Guest guest
I am having a helluva life post vicoden use of 4 years. I went to my dr (whom I love dearly)and told him of the absolute self hatred I have felt since taking narcotics on a daily basis. I have tried alot of different therapies for my severe pustular psorasis and associated arthritis. The only thing to work is steroids. I have a multiendocrine disease a long with everything else as well as diabetes and surgery to remove my thyroid. I have very bad immune system to start with so cannot take most of the new meds out there. The only thing left was to at least medicate the extreme pain stiffness than never abates.I am now takinf celebrex with some improvement of stiffness. I experience horrible fatigue that sleep does not touch. As a matter of fact I can't sleep well at all. I fight my bed all night every night being so sore and uncomforatable. I am sorry this is so long. I have been watching the group for awhile and decided you are the right folks to speak my constant pain and fears to. I am determined to live to the fullest and stay as active as I can. I am only 37 years old and don't want my life to be so limited.I am now also taking xanax for anxiety and to help me sleep. I have only been on it 2 days bit I hope it really helps.I also have a bit of a kidney problem right now resulting in loss of protein. I also have off the chart sed rates. I hope everyone out there is having a better maybe even pain free day and thank you for listening. shaw
Guest guest
, This might be a little late because I haven't been on for a few days but I wanted you to know that I can not take any of the new meds either. I also have chronic fatigue, and pain with swelling of the joints and the bottom half of my spine is fused together now. I know how you are feeling. I am taking Lyrica for the nerve pain which is like celebrex without so many side effects according to my Doc. I am on a narcotic, only it is physically addicting not mentally and it is Advanza. It is time released and it helps all day long. When you go to bed at night try doing relaxing things like taking a warm bath, some say warm milk helps them sleep. Just whatever makes you relax try everything you can think of that might help you. I had my thyroid taken out too, several years ago. I hope the xanax helps you, also try other relaxing methods. You are always welcome to vent here that's what we are here for each other because all of us know how we are all feeling, and we learn from each other also. You are in my prayers I hope you find relief soon. You can have a full life, like you mentioned just don't overdo it, listen to your body it will let you know so much about yourself you will be amazed. Once you know your limits, then the sky is the limit again!!! I have realized in the few weeks that we can have a life once I got over feeling sorry for myself. It took me 3 years don't let it take you that long!! You have found a wonderful group of friends here, one of our best cheerleaders right now is really having it rough her name is Betz, I pray for her like I will for you. Guest guest
I am also on Lyrica and this is the only drug that helps the pain in my back from the herniated disc. More people should be aware of it. You mentioned you had your thyroid removed too? I wonder what the link is there. I developed the psorasis about 2 years before I had my thyroid removed. I have always felt there was a connection. I did not develope the serious ps arthritis pain until the dy after the surgery! I would like to talk to you directly. If you are interested please email me at lmiller37@... I have a host of other autoimmune processes going on with a long history of endocronology problems. I was wondering if you are similar? Please contact me and maybe we can exchange numbers to discuss this. Thanks again, Shaw [Editor's Note: , to-date, studies have suggested that the rate of thyroid problems in people with P and PA is not any different than the rate for the general population so in any large group, you will find people who have had thyroid problems. However, STRESS is a huge trigger as are other bodily changes when your immune system gets disturbed as it does following surgery or the removal of an organ. So, I think you are right - your surgery was a trigger - but it might have been triggered if your surgery had been for the removal of your appendix instead of your thyroid. In any case, at this point, we'll don't know what the specific triggers are but the link between illness onset and stress is unmistakeable.
