Guest guest
What do people use for the computer to guide the cursor? I use a traditional mouse, and my " click " finger - the index finger on my right hand - is really starting to bother me - big time. I have always had problems with my hands, but it is obvious that the one or two hours a day I use the computer are taking it's toll on the finger that gets used the most. Any suggestion on a device that is easier on the hands/fingers??? Giving up my link to the big wide world is not an option! Guest guest
Hi Ruth, here. I also have a lot of pain and stiffness from using the mouse. I had a regular 2 button mouse with the ball in the bottom. My hand got so cramped from holding it. My husband Jeff got me a logitech track ball mouse. It has the 2 buttons for you fingers a dial to scroll with (which I really like) and a large red ball for your thumb to move around instead of moving the whole mouse. I thought this would be the answer but I have a lot of trouble with moving the ball to put the curser on the X to close files or any fine movements. I have very weak thumbs and they are so shaking sometimes my eyes can't keep up to where my had has sent the curser flying to. Jeff brought home something else that he got from a friend from work. I still have to try it. It is called a cat and it is small about 4 inches square and thin as a CD. It has a square screen on it where you just place you finger and it moves the curser in the direction you run your finger. It also has vertical and horizontal scroll lines where you just run your finger down. It still has buttons that you have to click just like a mouse. Well that is my news on trying to find a nice mouse or CAT!! Also the logitech one with the ball on top is set up for right handed people, I imagine you can buy them for left handed to, but my children are both left handed and Jeff and I are right handed so it isn't the answer to our prayers. ----- Original Message ----- From: <warrenre@...> <egroups> Sent: Sunday, January 21, 2001 6:34 PM Subject: [] Using the computer and stressing the hands > What do people use for the computer to guide the cursor? > I use a traditional mouse, and my " click " finger - the index finger > on my right hand - is really starting to bother me - big time. A couple of months ago I bought a " Microsfot Wheel Mouse " and have found it to be helpful. It has the traditional two buttons, but there's a little wheel in between the buttons which acts like a scroller. I find that less movement is needed in my fingers, and the wheel can be manipulated with either the second or third fingers. It's not a big investment either - about $20-25 at Office Depot, as I recall. Good luck, Carolyn
