Guest guest
Sherry that almost sounds like arthritis. I have it in my knee. It is very painful. It does hurt sometimes in my joint to the hip. I had a MRI a few months ago. They siad it was Ostoarthritis. I thaught I had just enjured it pushing my Husband's wheel chair at the Nursing Home.. I have never had anything wrong with me and I am 72. I haven't been on any medication until this, but I can't see where the medicine is helping in the least. What are you taking. Have you seen a Chirpractor for your problem. I went to mine and she helped me some, but she and I knew that she couldn't fix mine. Yours is in your hip also. I hope the VA. don't fool around with you like they did with JR.my Husband. We live in BLloomington In. They can't keep a Doctor here at the VA. Please write me back if you have time Doris sherry <pixyprism@...> wrote: has anybody else experienced buttocks pain on one side that runs down the front of your leg to your knee? i am having this problem and due to all the red tape can only see the regular dr at the v.a. hospital.... seems to be diagnosed as bursitis and a muscle spasm in this huge muscle...but i am wondering cause this morning i have had pain in the other hip... this is 3 weeks now...they upped my predisone to 30mg a day for 5days and then 20 and 10mg can't see the rheumy til 12 of the month...and to beat it all my boss fired me....lol what a way for 2005 to go out! Try asking your Rheumy to prescribe physical therapy to help you manage the pain through stretching and exercise...
Guest guest
YES! Both sides, pain coming from somewhere deep in my hip/buttocks area for months now, radiates down my legs causing more weakness (and sometimes a feeling of shakiness) than pain. It's always worst in the morning. Very hard to pin down, which is the reason that I didn't ask my rheumy about it for months. I asked if I should have an MRI done before the end of the year so it would be covered beyond my recently met deductible. She felt an x-ray was sufficient and it turned up nothing specific. She did acknowledge that what I'm experiencing might be caused by PA. That's all. Don't quite know what to do or how to get to the bottom of it. Please let me know if you discover more information about this strange symptom. Guest guest
Hi, I’ve had the same pain you are describing. I also was told it bursitis. I think bursitis goes along with PA, since it’s just another joint that can get inflamed. For me, an injection of predinsone in the joint helps more than anything. Have you tried that? I think it works more than just oral predinsone, since I’m on that as well. Also since you can’t get into the doctor right away, sleeping with a pillow between your legs might help. I know it helps to keep that leg and joint straight. I sleep on the other side with a pillow between my legs when it’s bad or on my back. I also go between ice and heat, and I also use the over the counter pain patches they sell in the drug stores. When I’m desperate another over the counter lotion called Pain Buster 2 can really help relieve the spasm in your muscles. It might be worth a try. I hope some of this email helps. I wish I had more advice on your job situation. It sure sounds like 2005 was a rough year for you. Hopefully 2006 will be better. Take care and I hope you feel better soon. Guest guest
Sherry, first of all I am so sorry you lost your job! I think it is inhuman to fire or lay off someone before, during and right after the Christmas/New Year Holidays much less any other day! I hope you find another job soon. As to your buttocks pain, that is how my PA was diagnosed. I had one finger that was a sausage joint and my left SI joint was giving me fits. They did all the blood work and I was diagnosed with an SLAB27 test and x-rays of my SI joints which showed fluid of some type...so I was given the diagnosis of PA...actually though my diagnosis she puts on my sheets each visit is " Inflammatory polyarthritis " . I was on azulfadine for 3 years which helped some but not enough so fall of 2004 I was put on MTX which has helped a whole lot! It still takes me till noon each day to get limbered up enough to get around much, and I still have some bad days, but mostly I am much better. I can at least shop and hour now instead of 20 minutes before collapsing with pain. Maybe you need to bug the heck out of your VA doctor until they investigate it further. You know....the squeaky wheel gets the grease? " type thing! LOL. Good luck and God bless you! Guest guest
I am so sorry to hear about the lose of your job. I experience the exact same type of pain. This pain is what caused me to have to quit my job. My leg won't hold me up because of the pain. The doctor gave me a cortisone (sp?) shot. It did help for quite a while. They have taken X-Rays and told me I need to get a hip replacement. I am currently trying to lose some more weight before that happens in the spring. You might ask about the shot. It was not very painful. " But I have a lot of padding there " I wish you the best please let us know how your appointment goes!
