Guest guest
Betz -- Congrats!!!!! I'll take one of those Mustangs, though I'd rather have a '67. Jayson [ ] I GOT A JOB!!!...again. I'll give each and everyone of you a sweet deal on a new Ford Mustang! I am going to be selling Fords for a huge dealership about 15 min from my apt. WHEW!!! No more working these little jobs in the shops in my area making pennies, with no benifits! I am walking normally. I mentioned in passing that I might limp from time to time but those would be the days I would feel I have more to prove. They have an elevator!!! I sold cars 24 years ago when I was 21 and living in Augusta GA. I sold the first car I showed and then the next day I sold another one and the next day I sold another one. So I did ok. The mistake I made back then was in what I said to the sales manager of used cars. They moved me to the used car lot...which was a promotion. The sales manager there began to tell me the " catch phrases " they use in used cars. I said to him " In Tennessee, we call them lies " . Then I got real dumb and suggested he let me teach him MY way since I was selling so many cars withOUT lying. That's when the abuse started. lol. The guys who did not work hard did not like me. And they won't like me at the new place but I'm older and wiser and I don't worry about that stuff. I'll be polite and kind and civil anyway. This place is letting me work around my daughter's schedule. I will loose one day with her in the summer but her favorite sitter is going to be with her. Once school starts, they will let me leave at 3 so I can get her off the bus. Then I'll work open to close on the days she is with her Dad and get the hours in. I just went in there and was myself. They kept saying " We'll let you know today or tomorrow " if they'd hire me and by the time it was all over, the two bosses said " Yeah...you're in...we don't need to wait " . Again...WHEW! One woman who is a big wig there scared me a bit at first. She was looking me up and down with her eyes squinted and her lips pursed and I swore she must have been thinking " What is this cream puff doing here??? " . But when I told her a few stories about my work history she laughed and realized that I could handle this. Here's the crazy part though...the dealership is having a sales event right now and they shipped some salesmen in who work for Ford in a special program that involves this group of men being sent all over the country just to help out with big sales. One of them was from MY HOME TOWN IN TENNESSEE. I am in the Hudson Valley Region of NY right now. This kid knew my best friend's son and another friends's sons. We were tossing names around like hot potatoes. I am going to enjoy this. It's fast paced (if I chose to work hard which I always do) but I will have a desk and I can work from there when I need to sit. Don't worry....I will pace myself. I just need a chance to prove myself before the next flare shows up down the road. I can keep a job during a flare...it's just that getting a job when you don't already have one is not easy. If I need a cane somedays at work then it will just look good for the dealership, right?.....handicapped woman! Big points there for Ford!!! The atmosphere in this place is great. The general manager said that when he first got there it was like a morgue. So my energy is going to be appreciated here which is good. I'll have gym priveledges for 6 dollars a week at a gym of my choice out of 5 local gyms, health benefits after 30 days (I have to call the company and see if I can get Enbrel for free for that month as my medicaid will be nixed imediately or.....see if my Rheumy will ok my taking my injections every 10 days for a few weeks...not sure how that's going to go but I'll make it). I will have a 401K and bonus and incentives. I'm all over it. I start tomorrow. They said I could wait until Monday but heck no. I brought home some big clunky books I need to look over tonight. This is a huge relief as I have not worked all year except for that one day last week. On the medical side, I have a bladder infection that I had no symptoms for. My primary care doc caught it when I went in for my anual physical last week. So I'm off Enbrel for a little longer than a week anyway until I get some antibiotics in me and get it re-checked. I feel great though. Go figure. But it's good to be ME today!!! I am so thankful. I prayed for a job with benefits so that I could still take the Enbrel and Ta-da!!! I just had to share this with you guys. I am so excited! -Betz (Editor's Note: tears of joy! Kathy F)

Guest guest
Hey Betz! Congratulations on the job! That's fantastic news! So good to hear good news from time to time! It seems I'm still " in the running " for that teaching job according to a source - but I can't decide if I really want it or not...One of my cousins who works at the school saw me at the picnic I was covering Saturday and said " I hear you're in the running for the school " . I just replied I interviewed a while back, but I haven't heard anything and she just flatly said " They haven't done anything yet. " So, I'm not sure how to take that. I really don't want to be " second choice " but they're going to have to do something soon OR they may end up turning to me by default due to the other applicant(s) already taking jobs elsewhere and I don't want that. I want whatever is best for me... *le sigh*...To me, it looks like they will almost HAVE to call a special meeting before the month is out to hire someone (they met last Monday)...otherwise it will be August and school will be starting in three weeks...and I wouldn't want (or wish for anyone) to have to rush around like a chicken with my (or - his or her - as the case may be) head cut off if I (he/she) need to put together a classroom and a curriculum *make it two! - 10th grade and 7th grade*! Oh yeah and since my granny sold that old Chevy body to some guy who's rebuilding it *pouts*, make mine a 64 1/2 convertible Mustang. *lol*..with RED interior...and flames...ghost ones...*lmao*. Guest guest
Jenn....ghost flames? lol! Might as well put some steer horns on it while you are at it sister. I hope a decision is made soon on your behalf. It will be interesting to see where your future leads you. Try to be excited about it like a little child waiting for her birthday surprise when you can. And most of all trust yourself and your skills...you'll be able to pull it off it you are down to the wire. Guest guest
No steer horns! I may live in Arkansas but I'm not really the cowgirl type...that comment makes me think of Boss Hogg - didn't his car have big old horns? Perhaps a painting of an anime character or two (either Vicious and Spike in the battle in " Ballad of Fallen Angels " from Cowboy Bebop - the shot by the stained glass window in the church/cathedral...or R_Dorothy (from Big O - it's the name of the robot those of you snickering in the dark) and Cheza (from Wolf's Rain) - who have been my signature characters so to speak as of late in chats) ... or sterling silver roses (which are really purple, btw) since that's sorta my signature among some circles. Not sure I'd always want Vicious, Spike, Dorothy or Cheza on the car...although Cheza could work well with the roses...*No, I haven't thought about it AT ALL *bats eyes innocently** There were 324 cars here for the Rod Run/SuperCruise this year. I'll have to send you some pics sometime. My granny sold the old shell of a Chevy at her house. Made me sad. I wanted to get it rebuilt, even though realistically I'd never be able to afford it. So it's off to a good home to be rebuilt and out of granny's way...*sigh*...at least she got good money for it. As for the decision. It will be what it is. I just hope they don't wait until the last blasted minute. I need to be able to give my current boss some notice if they do choose me and I will also need time to get my stuff together and pull all my " past life " props and what-nots out of storage. The amount of posters I had on my walls then was INSANE. Not the most I had ever seen (that title still belongs to my freshman English teacher in h.s. - she allowed us to bring our own posters to hang...so we had everything from fuzzy kitties and penguins to Dee Snider with Twisted Sister and Freddy Krueger, but Freddy hung out inside her cabinet to scare you when you opened its door), but I had a lot by any measure...mostly Shakespeare. Too tired to be excited too much lately. It's picnic season in the south - you know what that means. Had to cover two picnics in the past two weeks (working between 6 & 1/2 to 10 hours in the heat)...my co- worker did the third one and he will do the one at the start of August. Then I'll help with the fair and Labor Day Picnics which follow (barring a decision to re-enter the educational field officially). I just don't know what my answer would be if the school was to call tomorrow. I wish I did. Keep praying, girl. I have at long last got the local Relay for Life website up and running... http://www.acsevents.org/relay/ar/clay and got the monies to show up tonight *WOO HOO*...FINALLY. I also made a video for a contest to win an autographed guitar from one of my fave bands a couple of weeks back and I'm gonna lose, but I had to try. No video footage...just stills - some of my original pics...number 39 in the contest at www.martycasey.org. Number 3 will win, and deservedly so. I hope 23 (I think that's the one...one with lil girls) will be next in line. Viewer's Choice voting ends at midnight Tuesday (CST) - so at least that will be one more thing to check off my list. I saw today that Queensryche is coming to St. Louis...tickets $30...that's tempting - love Geoff Tate's voice...the Lovehammers are going to play at Blueberry Hill in St. Louis on the 27th and those tickets are only $15. But I hate to travel alone...so I'm trying to talk some girlfriends into a long road trip. Some of these groups need to make a swing through the south. *Yes, I know the Lovehammers were at Memphis in May, but I didn't get to go and have been pouting about it ever since.* Oh well, I'm trying to get some work done before I crash. Still need to write an article on Lt. Gov. Win Rockefeller and two business related articles, but I think I'm gonna crash and get up really early. Talk to you later and take care. Peace, Jenn in Arkansas > > Jenn....ghost flames? lol! Might as well put some steer horns on it > while you are at it sister. I hope a decision is made soon on your > behalf.
