Guest guest
I have PA, mainly in my spine. I watched my handwriting deteriorate over the years, so I write with a slow, careful block print. Someone suggested I try calligraphy. Oh yeah, that's a great idea, I thought, assuming the worst. Despite early frustrations (calligraphy IS hard, even for people with normal spines), I discovered I could write better with a calligraphy pen than with a ballpoint. I learned Irish half uncial on my own. Those letters looked terrific! Why was that? I finally figured it out. Calligraphy pens have square ends, and not pointed. The square end gives the hand more support. Irish half uncial uses a very wide square nib, so the pen supports and does most of the work. I know I can't go through life being the scribe of the Lindisfarne gospel. But it made me feel so much better knowing that I CAN write. It doesn't upset me anymore to draw my block print letters if I have to use a ballpoint pen. norell
