Guest guest
, I had the same complain about fish oil. My doctor prescribed a Omacor (omega 3-acid ethyl esters). It's pasteurized or something and there is absolutely no fish oil taste. He did have to write a script for it, but for me it was well worth the cost because I actually take it. Guest guest
Hi ...or anyone else for that matter! I'm supposed to be taking fish oil supplements for my cholesterol. I absolutely hate the taste fish, and so far I haven't been able to find any capsules that don't leave me burping (sorry I know that's kinda gross) and tasting fish. Does anyone know of a certain brand or anything where this doesn't happen? Guest guest
Hey Jayson, I can so relate with what you are talking about. I even tried the brands that said coated so no fish burps, but no I still do and it grossed me out and I stopped taking it after the 2nd day. My rheumy prescribed for me Omacor, which is a fish oil that is coated and I from day one no bad taste and I am on my 3rd month and still going strong. I am not sure if you can get it over the counter without a prescription, but my insurance covers it. Just thought I would share. Debbie > > Hi ...or anyone else for that matter! Guest guest
Hi Jayson I substitute flaxseed oil for the fish oil. Similar levels of beneficial omega 3s, and no fish taste, less indigestion.

If this is not the place to discuss alternative medicine can someone refer me to a list that deals with PA and options other than conventional meds Hi Judy, I think many of us are interested in alternative medicine, as long as it is approached from a common sense standpoint. Unfortunately, many times alternative treatments have no basis of fact behind them, and can sometimes even be more dangerous. I spent a while trying to treat my PA non-medically, and did pretty well for a few years. I was lucky enough to have a rheumy who supported this and helped me stay med free for a time...a lot of our approach though was physical therapy, and also supplements that we determined through lab testing I was in need of (i.e. folic acid, vitamin D, etc). I think we would all be open to ideas that came from a source that had studied treatment options, which it sounds like your alternative doctor has. Guest guest
Minor effect on my lipids - maybe helps to keep my triglycerides down a bit. But I'm already on 3 grams niacin and 2 grams colestipol for lipid problems, it's been a winning combo for 10+ years for me. I'm sure I'd see a bit more effect if I wasn't on the other stuff... > > And have you found that it helps your lipid profile? >
