Happy Holidays!

I am 42 years old. I was diagnosed with PA last November. So far

the PA has only affected 3 fingers in both hands. I am also

interested to knowing how many people are affected with PA in their fingers

only.

I have been taking 750 mg of Salsalate 3 to 4 times daily to manage pain and

inflammation. It's in the same class of drugs as Ibuprofen. My RA told me

that Salsalate is the one of the best medicines to take since it has the

least

amount of side affects.

-- [ ] husband's PA

hi to all of you!

my husband, age 67, has been diagnosed w/PA. his condition seems

limited to his fingers, both the joints and around the nail bed. the

joints swell, then split raw and then itch. for years, he has had

flaking skin and numerous eye infections, which we have now found out

are related to the PA. He refuses to take any medication other than

Naprosyn, as he is cancer free after prostate cancer surgery 2 years

ago, and is very nervous about side effects of stronger meds. He is

already a health food " nut " , eats only organic, exercises often, and

only weights 135 lbs. Has anyone else had their condition limited only

to fingers, and how and what relief have you found? thanks!

Hi ,

I have it in my fingers but not only there. Ultimately starting Enbrel has

been good in that the finger pain has receded quite a bit although I still have

some pain there and joints already destroyed, the Enbrel seems to have

prevented further damage.

Good luck,

Hi Rhonda,

I do have it in my fingers but not only there. Two fingers have the joints

destroyed and the third was going through the same process but seems to have

stopped. Also both thumbs are affected. It is only when your thumbs are painful

that you realise how often you use them. lol

Take care,
