Guest guest
I use Polytar Shampoo when flared-up. It is on the shelf at my drug store but you might have to ask the pharmacist for it at your drug store. It is smelly because of the high concentration of tar, but it is effective. Guest guest
Dear , My son has this and it is a struggle to keep the scalp moistured constantly. The intention and desperation to relieve the itch is constant. Sometimes he uses olive oil and leaves it on overnight. We have used coaltar prep such as Polytar and oilatum. baby shampoos are generally purer. However; I have to stress we have not found something that really works. We hope that some form of genetic treatment will come on board in the near future, God willing. <jmercer1@...> wrote: I was wondering if anyone can give me some info on something that works to make the psoriasis on my scalp less noticable? I have tried T-Gel shampoo and also the kind that is in a green bottle I can not think of the name of it right now. A hairdresser friend of mine suggested tea tree oil but said it would dry my hair out so I mixed it with conditioner and that did not help either. Has anyone found some remedy that works? Guest guest
Hi , I have the scalp P- My doc had a really good thing that works for me- it will almost diminish should I do it a few days - But, I have long hair, blonde at that and when I do it I have to stay inside for days- it takes forever to get out- plus the 'coal tar' is dark and kind of stains. Anyway, There is a a topical oil ( derma-smootHe /FS).01% - From what I gathered it was a peanut oil? He told me to put it on the P at night and sleep with a bag on my head- then I wake and wash it out- After that I put this stronger version of the T-GEL on the P spots- and the longer I let it sit the better. After I was that out I have a topical steroid solution- it is alcohol based so it feels like putting rubbing alcohol on your wound- and I do that. After a few days I really almost diminish the P- but like I said- I have to do it for some days. I have had a mild flare and haven't had the time to do it-plus I have a boy to take to school-so, i have neglected it. Check into the stronger T-GELS. They are given by script ...more coal tar percent. Better than the OTC. Good luck! __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I have been using Alphosyl shampoo for the last 5 years and found it very good in controlling the psoriasis on my scalp. I have stopped using it periodically but the psoriasis returns quickly. Hope this helps W <jmercer1@...> wrote: I was wondering if anyone can give me some info on something that works to make the psoriasis on my scalp less noticable? Guest guest
I did t-gel also, and mine come and go... I am starting to show some signs again, so I will probably go back to it... As said, what works for one may not work for another... You could ask the pharmacy what things he can get in that might help and ask for a script from your dr... Hope that helps... Guest guest
i would try emu oil shampoos and conditioners if i were you . or a salicylic acid shampoo. people are having good results wih the new hemp shampoos.some people try lemon juice mixed with glycerin on scalp for a few hours with a shower cap overnight .be careful with lemon juice cause it could change your hair color . you could probably try just water mixed with gylcerin and put that on scalp overnight . but that the lemon juice and gylcerin and lemon juice is used a s a remedy for cradle cap for babies .. then shampoo in he morning. cathy from ma
Guest guest
My doc gave me a mouse called Luxiq and it works great . I had tried other things as well to no avail. What is nice about this is it doesn't leave your hair greasy or anything and it doesn't have an unpleasant odor. Good luck susie _________________________________________________________________ Check the weather nationwide with MSN Search: Try it now! http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=weather & FORM=WLMTAG
Guest guest
You're not going to believe this, but I got rid of mine with Vicks VapoRub. I fought it for three years, and then someone told me about Vicks. I used it once. The psoriasis went away and has never come back. > > try shampoo wiyh emuoil or hemp oil . you can find these online. > > >
Guest guest
> > I was wondering if anyone can give me some info on something that > works to make the psoriasis on my scalp less noticable? > Thanks, > > M Dear , There is a product I began using a few years ago that really brought the psoriasis on my feet under control. It is called Freederm HC (www.freederm.com) I have used the soap, the cream and the moisturizer. They also have a shampoo and conditioner but I haven't tried that as my P on my scalp is very minor. This product doesn't " cure " psoriasis as it claims, but it is well worth the money. The moisturizer alone is great! It really penetrates through the plaques without irritating your skin further. Not trying to be a commercial here, but after spending thousand of dollars on salves, creams, lotions, soaks etc; it was great to find a product that really seems to help. Guest guest
, I use " tarsum " shampoo for the scalp p. It's strong smelling, so I just use a conditioner or do a second shampoo with a mild shampoo to eliminate the lingering odor. It's an OTC, but sold only in Dermatology offices. I purchase it online cheaper than my derm sells it for. The company also makes " cutemol " , which I use on my hands for my nail psoriasis and to moisturize any dry or scaly areas. Go to www.sumlab.com for info. --------------------------------- All-new - Fire up a more powerful email and get things done faster.
Guest guest
My derm once prescribed a combination of salicylic acid, triamcinolone, and cocoa butter. The pharmacy had to compound it. I would rub it into my scalp at night and put on a shower cap before going to bed. The P on my scalp cleared up beautifully in about 2 weeks. Guest guest
> , I use " tarsum " shampoo for the scalp p. Through the week, I also use an over-the-counter tar shampoo. It is manufactured by Neutrogena. They make various concentrations. On weekends, I use a prescription steriod that I rub right into the affected areas. That way I give my body a break from both products. Hope this helps, Brent
Guest guest
Hi Lots of good advice here. I don't have a lot on my scalp but what's there used to be stubborn. Now I use an OTC shampoo called Nizoral - it has an antifungal - ketoconazole. Comes in a prescription strenght too if you need... I was told that normal skin fungi take advantage of psoriatic skin and keeping them in check helps keep the flakes in check. Has been working mostly for me for a couple of years.
