Guest guest
My Rheumy tells me that the pen is often much more painful than using a syringe. All my fingers are swollen and twisted with arthur, and I have no hand strength at all, so I doubt I can inject myself. I have a tentative appointment tomorrow (Monday) to have Visiting Nurse Services come by my apartment to administer my next Humira injection. Sounds like a better alternative than shlepping to the hospital clinic twice a month for injections (although it'll be limited to the winter months -- I'll have to go back to the hospital for shots comes the springtime). I was also told to let the Humira return to room temperature before injecting, if possible. Now that I'm on Humira, I find myself wondering, at every change of symptom, is this a side effect of the biologic? Yesterday my urine turned an inexplicable dark brownish red. I'm wondering what THAT is about! I took a lot of Pepto Bismol a couple of days ago, following pains in my abdomen due (apparently) to too much Mexican food. I love spicy food, but more and more my stomach rebels against anything but the most bland of condiments. -- Len <cat1657@...> wrote: Thanks Sherry. I am using the pen. I will try letting the med get to room temp first. I am also staying on the MTX, along with the Enbrel. I think that I am going to be glad that I happened across this message board. I am finding out that no matter how good your Rheumatologist is, you sometimes get the most info from the people that are actually going through this. --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? Guest guest
Len, by all means let your doctor know right away about the change in urine color. It could indicate a kidney infection. Or a liver problem. The sooner you are checked and treated (if necessary) the better. better safe than sorry! sherry z Now that I'm on Humira, I find myself wondering, at every change of symptom, is this a side effect of the biologic? Guest guest
I was to the point that I could not hold a pen or pencil and the pain was unbearable in my feet. I started Humira last December and I have done remarkably well. A nurse helped me with my first injection and then I went to the pen a few months later. I can't say I like doing it but the pen doesn't require much strength. The bones in my hands have also thinned some as well. I think you should see your family doctor about your urine. Infection can be a side affect of suppressing the immune system. It might not be a big problem but you can't be sure. Carol
