Hi ,

There are different types of psoriasis which usually but not always

goes along with the psoriatic arthritis. The most common type

involves a white scaly dead skin layer covering a red area. Another

type looks like little blisters. Off hand your rash doesn't sound

like psoriasis but you can see pics and descriptions at

www.psoriasis.org as well as some pics in our photo section.

Your description reminds me of rosacia which can be seen with ra or

pa.

the psoriasis site also includes a good description of the types of

psoriatic arthritis. it is known for attacking the smaller joints of

the hands and feet and the spine but sure can attack any joint.

Have you asked your rheum if he found an ra factor in your blood

work? that could be another clue for you.

good luck...maybe they could try enbrel or a simialr med regardless

of which type you have.

best wishes,

marti

Hi ,

I am by no means an expert here, but I have a friend and one younger relative

(one has RA and one has been diagnosed with Juvenile RA) and both have

experienced a rash similar to what you are speaking of tied to their RA... I

have done no research and am not aware if this is common or not, but I thought

it might be helpful in the context given...

Good Wishes,

(Idaho)

Hello,

I was dx in Nov 2005 with PA, and I also have a mysterious rash on my

face for many months. Looks like cea and even occasionally like a Lupus

butterfly rash , but it is not. I had skin biopsies for Lupus which both

came back normal.

My Derm treated me for cea bc she wasn't sure what it was either, but

I decided to stop the month long antibiotucs...I just couldn't take it

anymore.

My rash comes and goes but is always there in some form, on the sides of my

nose going down to my chin area, sometimes the forehead too. I think me

rheum definitely thinks it is all related to the PA, bc he wanted me to

start the Enbrel to try to knock out all 3 at once(P,PA,and Rash)-but it

hasn't worked just yet. I am about to restart Enbrel this Friday ,after

being sick a few weeks.

I hope my little input helps you feel like it's not just you! All these

mystery' symptoms make the doctors look at us funny sometimes...so it helps

to know other people are experiencing the same thing:)

Blessings,

Lorraine

ahh thanks Lorraine!

You're right indeed, it does make it better sometimes to hear others

experiencing the same issues.

By the way, does your rash itch or burn at all? Mine definetely

itches, and maybe sometimes tingles or burns a bit. Just curious.
