a, I've been thinking a great deal about your situation. Also, I'm remembering how difficult it is to make decisions and do research when one is quite ill. You mention that you are in a lot of pain and that it isn't likely to get better. Can you talk with your doctors NOW about setting up a pain management plan for if or when things get worse? Can we (I) help you research serious pain management? I don't know a thing about it, for starters, but I can learn if necessary. Best wishes.

a welcome and I hope we can answer your questions.

I was reading about your blood and wondered if you had been checked for pernicious anemia? It is also an autoimmune disease and your DR may have already ruled it out but thought it worth mentioning.

Bridget or anyone else.....

Any of you ever throw up?  I have been doing this for quite some time, over a

year.  Sometimes I feel like I am going to pass out, then I throw up.

My feet hurt really bad, painful to walk.  Knees hurt and I feel as if it's an

effort to walk.

Last night around midnight, I woke up and started

to throw up all of a sudden.  What is up with that?  Anyone have any of this?

Hi a, wow, could our symptoms match any closer???? I am so sorry for what

you and everyone else is going through, I am so miserable and it takes so long

to figure out what's wrong. I used to be so energetic and happy and now I just

don't want to do anything, the emotional aspect of whatever is going on is

killing me, I really hope if I have lymes and am treated that the depression

stuff goes away....

Good luck and take care!

Bridget,

I suffered from depression, mood swings, crying jags & panic attacks for 6

months--all Lyme related. These symptoms were (in my case) the first to

disappear after 2 months of oral antibiotics.

Hoping this doctor is the one who will get you on the road to recovery.

I throw up sometimes, but it's not out of the blue. I normally feel nausea

- I suspect from the abx. I drink tons of kefir which seems to help.

I  have thrown up sometimes - not very often - but was nauseous all the time!!

After being in treatment now for over a year the nausea only happens maybe once

a month - when I think back - about four months into my treatment the nausea

lifted.  The sore feet - wow - that one still happens but not so bad - I think

they say that is because of babs a co-infection of lyme.  I think if I were more

sensitive to throwing up I would of allot more -

Hope you are seeing a good LLMD -

Diane

Could be an overtaxed gall bladder. Antibiotics will definitely do

this. And nausea at night -- starting in the evening and peaking

between midnight and 2 am -- is pretty canonical gall bladder stuff.

Google " gall bladder alternative remedies " and you'll come up with

lots of suggestions for ways to deal with this. Mine's been touchy,

too, the past few months; but was completely fine during my October

drug holiday, which suggests that it's not going to be a problem any

more when I stop taking abx.

I keep good anti-nausea meds (in Canada, we have one called Gravol

that's amazing) and a serious painkiller like Vicodin on hand for the

occasions it gets really bad.

Thanks, I'll check it out. Mine is pretty much all the time - not just at

night. But as I said, drinking kefir seems to help a lot.

Yes, I have severe nausea and stuff, and we are looking into my gall bladder

which causes headaches, fatigue, shoulder and back pains, and stomach issues of

all sorts. Good luck!

Hi Elaina,

I too have a gall bladder that gives me grief with the same symptoms as you. I

was on IV Rocephin for 8 months and that I think is what destroyed it. Since

then I did change my diet a bit, I have been staying away from greasy foods, any

recipes with cream in it, less breads, and no milk. It has helped. So I

decided I wasn't going to take the gall bladder out and see what

happens...Actually the nausea and the vomiting I had also stopped and I feel

when I started on the salt/c protocol that also helped me some, not sure why but

I did see less nausea and haven't vomited since.

Good luck

  • 9 months later...

Kayt,

I only participated in this group when I was newly diagnosed. I still read the

posts, but thankfully I have been responding well to treatment.

I have had PA for many years, but it was mild and would flare in one finger and

go in to remission with meds for a month or two. Two years ago (this week-end

as a matter of fact) it exploded. I was worsening rapidly and was scared to

death. Initially I was placed on prednisone, then methotrexate, then Arava and

finally Enbrel. Enbrel has been my lifesaver, although I constantly worry about

side effects and infections. My husband reminds me that without it I wouldn't

be functional and I would be very depressed. It has now been 15 months since I

started Enbrel. I have had a good response with pretty mild symptoms remaining.

The biggest change for me has been in my energy level and my ability to

tolerate physical work i.e. painting a room or doing heavy cleaning .

Fortunately, I was able to decrease my work to part-time. I really have to pace

my activities and plan. I also find that getting enough sleep is absolutely

essential to how I feel. I have consulted with a nutritionist and really feel

that foods have been very important. I eat lots of fresh fruits and vegies,

small amounts of protein and very little bread. I can tell a difference when I

eat rich foods or lots of carbohydrates or alcohol. My GP placed me on a high

dose of Vitamin D as well and I really think it has helped. I have not been

able to continue as vigorous of exercise as I was doing prior to PA (rowing and

kayaking), but I can walk for long distances. I tried to decrease my meds (per

my md's instructions) but sxs returned rapidly, so it was a no go.

I have had to make some real adjustments as to my thoughts about having PA. If

I look at it as taking away things I love I get depressed. I have had to accept

that " it is what it is " and be grateful that I am responding so well. I have

given up on trying to explain it. Even my kids don't get it and they saw me

when it was bad. I think my husband is the only one who understands what I was

going through.

Only you can make decisions about your treatment. The choices are scarey, but

hopefully you have a good doc who will get you through it. I have tested my doc

with disagreeing with some things he has wanted me to do, but we need to have

some control and we know how we feel.

Good luck to you, and I hope you have a good outcome. Connie D.
