Guest guest
At the end of March during my 2nd remicade infusion I had a severe allergic reaction that was two part. When it first happened, they stopped and gave me tylenol and benadryl, which I had a severe allergic reaction to the benadryl which was the first time the Rapid Response Team was called in and once I was deemed stable enough, my rheumy was there and felt it was ok to try the remicade again which I agreed to, so after 40 minutes I the reaction was so severe I remember saying I did not feel right and than woke up later that night in the ER and my family was there with me and finally was release when I was stable enough. Since than, I have been working very closely with my rheumy in getting a new treatment plan that may work, since prior I had used Humira, and Enbrel prior to the Remicade. Ever since the allergic reaction, I have had panic attacks that I never have had to deal with before. I have an appointment to discuss with my doctor, but I was wondering if anyone had heard of this or experience with this. A few times I have had to get my family to call 911 since I truly could not breathe or function. The only one thing that does seem to be a trigger of all is taking a shower for some add reason, but will be glad to see my doctor next week. Debbie [Editor's Note: Debbie, by all means see your doctor, but you might need medication for a period of time to help stave off the panic attacks. Panic attacks occur in the face of real - or imagined - danger and you have been through a really dangerous situation and now your mind plays games with imaginary ones. This is a very human reaction. You might want to avoid showers and sponge bathe until you can see your doctor. If you do shower, be sure to do it when someone is home with you. Guest guest
Debbie, I have been talking to a friend about Remicade. He has been on it for a while now for Crohn's disease. The two side efeects that he has are extreme fatigue the day of his infusion and panic attacks if he over-exerts himself. Eileen
Guest guest
I have been taking Remicade and I am not experiencing panic attacks. I never heard of that as a side effect although I guess anything is possible. Maybe your friend is just anxious over the whole issue of taking Remicade and is bringing these attacks on himself.
