Guest guest
Boy I get the burning at the top of my left thigh just about all the time now. Some nights the only way I can sleep is to lay on my stomach and the pressure on my leg from laying on it then gives me enough relief or the burning goes away completely so that I can sleep. I get pain on the back of my right ankle that comes and goes at time mostly it's a burning sensation more than a pain. Celeste

Guest guest
Deanna: any drug you take that's designed to halt the progression of PA (as opposed to just dulling the pain) will " weaken " your immune system; but remember, it's because that same immune system is over-active that you have the disease. I went two years on Enbrel before having even so much as a cold and before that I'd always gotten an upper respiratory infection every winter. My allergies even got better! Be cautious and tell your doc at the first sign of illness but otherwise, don't let it freak you out. Get a flu shot and if your doc recommends it get the H1N1 shot, also. Then just relax and know you're going to feel better. Joanna Hoelscher
Guest guest
Wow, I had the same exact pain in my hip from the PA. It hurt so bad to sleep and put pressure on that side so I had to sleep on the other side, stomach, or back. Until one day the pain was gone but it's like the pain just " jumped " to the other side! That lasted a couple of weeks but then I got it horribly on both hips at the same time! That hurt bad! I had to just lay still to sleep (didn't get much anyway cause of the pain) and I could barely move to turn on my stomach if I wanted to. I ended up finally breaking down and just started taking Aleve around the clock for like 2 weeks straight. It slowly went away and finally it was completely gone. I felt like a teenager again! Now there is just a dull pain in one hip for for now. It hurts to stand on that one leg and put pressure on it to put on a sock or a shoe standing in which I would fall over if I did cause my hip would just give out. I am on methotrexate, but it seems to only help my toe and thumb somewhat. Lately, I find myself just taking Aleve as sparingly as I can. But I really just want to take it almost every day. Then I think I would have minimal pain in all those areas but I am not sure that taking Aleve that much is okay. I asked my doctor and she said it was okay. But I am not sure I believe that. Guest guest
I have PA through out my whole body, when i had insurance i was Enbrel and it was a big big relief, i was very surprised. I definitely would recommend that to anyone that needs a lot of relief and the medications they are taking isn't helping. I was taking so many Aleve and Tylenol to try to help that pain that I ended up almost dying from liver poisoning! The only thing that really sucks is that within the first 6 months of being diagnosed with PA that doctors want to try you on as many medications to see if they can find one that works but in the end it just travels to more joints and it leaves them no choice but to start you on Enbrel, but i would suggest trying that right away 'cuz it really really helps.
