Guest guest
Hi Karyn, I don't know anything about the supplements, but I suggest you try Corn Huskers Lotion for your hands. Also, there are creams and lotions made for diabetics that work for dry, cracked hands. I worked many years in retail, and some of the people I worked with used the Corn Huskers' Lotion religiously because their hands would dry out and crack from handling cardboard boxes every day. One other thing, I used to live and work not far from PSprings and even though you don't have the cold weather to dry out your skin, you have the desert winds and heat as well as some of the hardest water in the world. Keep some white vinegar in your shower for your hair or some bottled water to rinse with part of the time. Those minerals in the water will really dry and flake your already irritated skin. Guest guest
ive been where you are at. its miserable. i know. way back when, i was told to use tinactin. yes i know it is anti fungal but it worked. (to a certain extent.) but my best results were from hydrocortizone. the cream not the oil. and i once had a dermatologist tell me to stay away from aloe vera. the balm may have petroleum products which will irratate the cracks and make them worse. i have used tea tree oil on breakouts also, and it does relieve the skin some. but it smells really bad! good luck. but remember none of this will cure it just make it feel better casey --------------------------------- Sponsored Link Mortgage rates as low as 4.625% - $150,000 loan for $579 a month. Guest guest
Well, today the top knuckle of my right index finger won't bend. It hurts really bad. I took an advil. This is reallt scaring me! I soaked my hand in cold water hoping swelling would go down. I don't know what to do. I don't have a doctor right now. Has this happened to anyone? what did you do for it? >

I took an advil. Those small blue ice packs for lunch boxes are easy to keep on hand for the times you're sitting still. You mentioned taking " an advil " ; surely you need to take something like that on a regular basis to keep the inflammation down a little. I can understand your having to wait for the insurance to go into effect == it's tough!! But if you can hold out, they may not write in any exceptions if you haven't seen a dr. for several months. With my own grown kids, my advice is: Hang tough. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Guest guest
Hi 15 years ago before I knew I had PA I had problems like you described and no insurance either my doctor told me 3 Advil 3 times a day for 3 days to get rid of the inflammation. I hope this helps I did this quite a few times for my fingers or for when I had trouble with what I thought at the time was TMJ. Good luck LINDA

Guest guest
I'd like to thank everyone who has replied to my original thread/question. I have received a lot of great ideas and help! Thanks to all athe posters and repliers, I've learned a lot just hanging out here reading! I do however find it difficult to ttrack and follow the threads here in this forum. Maybe I'm just used to a different style but, well, i dunno! My daily intake of advil has helped my knuckles a whole lot! No milk no juices/acids nothing spicy (difficult to do) and Cornhuskers...so far so...better than before but not great. Thanks allm keep on chatting and I'll keep on reading! Guest guest
Have you tried to talk to someone at Enbrel to see if you might be able to get help until your inusrance is in-stated? Might be worth a shot..It's the Encourage Foundation. 1-888-4Enbrel. Just a thought. > > Hello, > I've searched for a thread discussing this topic but to no avail. > Help! Guest guest
Thanks but I was on Remicade (5 infusions until April 06) they said I would get a cash discount, only $2,200 an infusion, yea right. I never did Enbrel so to see a dr. to get a scrip, to get the Enbrel...well, i just can't afford it at all. Nice thought tho, believe me, If I could afford it!!!!! [Editor's Note: Why not call the doctor that put you on Remicade and ask for a script for Enbrel? There might be no charge. As noted by below, you might also qualify to get Enbrel for free or low cost. I think you are giving up too quickly here and it could be that you have options. Guest guest
I know that the producers of Enbrel have a few different patient assistance programs depending upon your situation. It may be worth your while to call and talk to them. I did and I am paying $75/month for my Enbrel. mensa711clerk <karyngreen@...> wrote: Thanks but I was on Remicade (5 infusions until April 06) they said I would get a cash discount, only $2,200 an infusion, yea right. Guest guest
Hello, I want to thank everyone for their help and advise! I have not been able to get online so I'm sorry it took a while for me to post this. I am doing VERY well thank you to Santa and some medication much needed. I have a bit of spring in my step once again and the swollen fingers " sausage fingers " are no longer. Yes, still very red but not as thick and flakey and again, not swollen. My swelling in my ankles are so much better too. I can zip up my boots (I had been leaving them open, they did not zip at all) I found a hand lotion that haz worked wonderfully over the counter too! Great for my hand and palm flaking, it's CORTAID ADVANCED (long lasting anti itch hand cream) 1% hydrocortizone and lasts thru hand washing believe it or not! Thank you all for your help and support. I wish you all a wonderful Christmas!
