Betz,

Good Grief, Girl!! I'm glad I'm one of the praying ones. I'll try to put a

little extra umph! in it this time. It would just really be too bad if

something happens to put this job in jeoprody. I am having a lot of trouble

with

my eyes today for some reason. I had to go to Folsom, ( not the prison)

before breakfast this morning to go to the " Dracula " store. My PC decided it

was time to check my thyroid, again. Maybe it started working again and I can

lose one of the pills I take per day. Fat chance. Here's asking God to

surround you with the white light of the Holy Spririt and His love and healing

power to protect you from any more problems till you are able to take your

Enbrel again.

Love ya,

Janet in Ca

Huge hug and lots of prayers coming your way Betsy! Seems when it

rains, it pours. I know it isn't easy for you right now, but hang in

there. We are all pulling for you! Your daughter seems to be a very

caring soul, especially if she wants to stay home and take care of

Mom.

Brightest Blessings,

Dalene

Betz,

I know what you are feeling with your eye. Have you seen an

opthomologist yet or just your primary care doc? I went through the

same type of symptoms and they thought it was a headache, had the CT

scan and everything but it turned out to be iritis. I have been

dealing with this since Sept. 22 of last year and had they not sent me

to the optho I wouldn't have known what it was. I was ready to claw

my eyes out! Let us know how you make out with your appointment.

Thanks for the note...I did go to an Opthamologist yesterday and he

ruled out iritis. I had that 24 years ago so I know what that's all

about. I had it for 2 years and it did damage to my left eye so I'm

careful about that. I had planned on going to an opthamologist then

next morning after I poked it at midnight but I could not take the

pain by 3 A.M. so I went to the ER. I knew that I would still go to

the opthamologist asap...you can't take chances with eyes. ER docs

can just put a bandaid on it and the eye doc gave me what he

called " REAL antibiotics " for my eye....not the ointment the ER gave

me. I'm on the mend now and will go back Friday to let him look it

over and see how it's healing. Sorry you had to go through the

iritis deal. How are you now? When I had it, I could not stand

light...it was a dark time in my life...for real. -Betz

Oh. Betz, I am so sorry. I wish I had the magical answer... But I'm

about as much help as a two wheeled car... (wait for it...)

Anyway, here's wishin' you a speedy recovery... And for god's sake, if

you can't keep your hands away from your eyes, put potholders on them...

I got it....2 wheeled car. lol. What's bugging me now is not being

able to drive. I thought it would be better today...the pain is but

the vision is not. I'm not sure that I'm not going to work

today...but I WAS sure last night that I was going today. Did you

follow that? At least I'll have time to work on my story for you and

I get to add another chapter from this week ALONE. I hope that you

plan on including a section or at least giving homage to what this

disease has taught many of us. As I read the post on here, I get

glimpses of what some of us have learned and how it has changed our

lives in a positive way. I would prefer to go about these changes in

a different manner but I've learned that you can either sit around

and question " where's the good in this? " or get out and make it

happen. I see lots of evidence of people doing that on here. I have

a sister I've been wondering about since Easter. She is manic

depressive and has been hospitalized 3 times....after the birth of

the last 3 of her 4 kids. Usually for at least a month and as long

as 3 months once. We talk a few times a week. Then BOOM...I did not

hear from her since Easter so I knew she was in the hospital. I

heard from her last week. Whew. I told her I knew that when she got

out, I'd hear back from her. She told me that this last time was

different....not as scary but very peaceful in her mind even though

her mind was not right. I told her about this group and how it has

been so helpful to me...life altering....and encouraged her to find

a group online and turn the bad into good. We discussed my brothers

first wife who married a few years ago...she and the new husband

even spent a few nights in my home on a visit from Nashville to NY.

My sis in law is amazing...she has adopted and fostered a dozen kids

over the years...all " unadoptable " and two brothers who had been

adopted and unadopted...GIVEN BACK...twice already. She loves the

unlovable and says that " All Gods Children have a place at His

table " and therefore at hers. She discovered a man who shared her

dream and they bought a farm where they planned to adopt and raise

12 more unwanted boys in the system. Boys are harder to place

apparently. To her horror....she learned that he was molesting her

boys. Now here's the catch. She worked for the state...placing and

counselling molested and abused children in the foster system. She

was trying to SAVE these children in her work and in her home. She

had always refused to counsel the offenders. Now she was married to

one. She wrote a book called The Feminization of Job and it

chronicles her story of how the kids said to her " But Mom...YOU SAID

there was always a place at your table for us.....will we ever do

something bad enough that we will get kicked out too? YOU SAID that

if we commit a crime we would have to do our time buy we could

always come home.... " and now they felt the same priviledge should

be offered to her husband. So she housed him in a barn on her

property in full knowledge of the state...the distance of the barn

from the house met the requirements. She was a pastor. They kicked

her out of the church. She was allowing the husband a place at the

table as long as he followed the rules. The state set up a sting

operation and caught him delivering something from his workplace to

a home where a 15 yr old boy would be signing for the delivery....a

clear violation...and at that point, all bets were off and she had

to explain that to the boys...that it was no longer her decision but

the states and that went to far and sometimes you can't come

back. Everyone is in therapy but here's the thing....she took the

bad...the ugliest of bads and made some good come out of it. The

story of the non-offending parent had not been told. Now the book is

going to be used in college studies at SUNY up here and it might

even allow her to keep the house and maybe keep adopting kids. You

can make good of a bad situation. Your book will help do that. I'm

so glad you are doing this. And I'm wearing boxing gloves and a

hockey mask to bed. Thanks for the note! See what you get when you

write me???? That'll teach ya. -Betz
