I too am in the middle of a flare and I have been waiting for my appointment for 4 weeks now..I go to a acupunturist...along w/ acupuncture- he does the mild electric shock..and massages me..and cups me....all this for about 125 dollars ( just over and hour worth of treatment) but,I can say it does help out. -- In , " mrs_rebeccab " <mrs_rebeccab@...> wrote: > > victoria is now 15yrs old and her symptoms are back/at 8yrs > old she was diagnosed w/j.r.a her mother let her decide to stop her > medicine on her own know almost 5 yrs later her arthritis is back w/a > vengence.shes in a lot of pain and it will be weeks b/4 i her step- > mother can get her in to see a doctor...right now we are using lots of > ice and asprin for the pain are there any suggestions or home remedy's > that could help ease her pain if so please help? >
Guest guest
I'm so sorry for what is going through! I can't even imagine dealing with this at 15, bless her heart. Call her regular pediatrician or primary care physician on the phone and ask whether (and how much) over-the-counter non-steroidal anti- inflammatory meds would be safe and helpful until she can see the doctor. Under a doctor's direction, these can be taken in larger doses than normal, especially short-term. Be careful, though, and be sure to get a doctor's advice on this. Make sure to emphasize that she is in great pain. bless you both, sherry z > > victoria is now 15yrs old and her symptoms are back/at 8yrs > old she was diagnosed w/j.r.a her mother let her decide to stop her > medicine on her own know almost 5 yrs later her arthritis is back w/a > vengence.shes in a lot of pain and it will be weeks b/4 i her step- > mother can get her in to see a doctor...right now we are using lots of > ice and asprin for the pain are there any suggestions or home remedy's > that could help ease her pain if so please help? >
Guest guest
Hi, Yes I have a great home remedy. Buy some emu oil on ebay I will supply the link below. I am just a buyer of their product as you can see in the feedback of the seller. It needs to be heated up. I boil water in a 3 " shallow pan then turn off the heat and put the plastic white bottle of emu directly in the water and wait around ten minutes. Then take the oil and rub it on your daughters back and use liberally. Do this every other day and she will feel much better. http://cgi.ebay.com/32-oz-100-PURE-ALL-NATURAL-EMU-OIL-NO-ADDITIVES_W0QQitemZ110\ 004956631QQihZ001QQcategoryZ33164QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem mrs_rebeccab <mrs_rebeccab@...> wrote: victoria is now 15yrs old and her symptoms are back/at 8yrs old she was diagnosed w/j.r.a her mother let her decide to stop her medicine on her own know almost 5 yrs later her arthritis is back w/a vengence.shes in a lot of pain and it will be weeks b/4 i her step- mother can get her in to see a doctor...right now we are using lots of ice and asprin for the pain are there any suggestions or home remedy's that could help ease her pain if so please help? --------------------------------- Want to be your own boss? Guest guest
That child is in my prayers....so much for a young person to deal with. Can she take Aleve for now? And what about hot baths with Epsom salts and some lavender oil? I take oat flour and dried (or fresh) lavender in a bag made out of cheese cloth under the running faucet for a soothing, softening bath. I add this to the Epsom salts because the salts can dry your skin. Nothing fancy with the bag....just tie a square off with a rubber band. Or use an old wash cloth. It is short lived but can help for a bit. Many people still swear by Castor oil wraps but it's messy business. We keep it around because my daughter had an antibiotic resistant infection last year that gave her boils. Very painful. The castor oil helped heal them along with the prescibed medicine. Just don't eat it. Please keep us posted. Blessings, -Betz Betsy Jack itsbetsy@... Guest guest
Hi ? is it? I'm sorry to read that is in so much pain. Unfortunately I can't help you on alternative or home remedies as I stick to the conventional stuff. I hope some of the others were able to help you on that score. I can say though, that the chances are, Ice and Asprin won't really touch it. Is she just point blank refusing to go to the doctor? If that is the case, the best idea might be to keep at her to try to convince her that they should be able to help. It sounds like the medicine she was on before seems to have helped. Is that the case. You don't say if you have just joined the group but it reads like a " just joined " post. lol So if you have just joined, welcome and if you have been here for a while, just point at me and laugh. lol Take care, In a message dated 07/07/2006 17:20:36 GMT Daylight Time, mrs_rebeccab@... writes: victoria is now 15yrs old and her symptoms are back/at 8yrs old she was diagnosed w/j.r.a her mother let her decide to stop her medicine on her own know almost 5 yrs later her arthritis is back w/a vengence.shes in a lot of pain and it will be weeks b/4 i her step- mother can get her in to see a doctor...right now we are using lots of ice and asprin for the pain are there any suggestions or home remedy's that could help ease her pain if so please help? Guest guest
you might want to ask the doctor for an antidepressant for your daughter . she might be more open to some of the new treatments that will help her arthritis . Eight years old was too young to let a child make a decision reguarding medication . at least at this age if she takes an antidepressant some of them also have the added bonus of some pain relief.and help her get some rest . It takes a few weeks for antidepressants to work but they might be a start to getting her to some sort of treatment.
Guest guest
are there any suggestions or home remedy's > that could help ease her pain if so please help? > I have found that when my back gets REALLY bad. You know...tear jerking, teeth gritting, white knuckle bad.....that sitting in a hot tub helps. (The big one's, not a bathtub. Getting in and out of a bathtub counteracts all the good of the hot water.) Unfortunately, the hot water dries out my skin horribly and I can only do it when I don't have open lesions. (Isn't that an attractive picture? LOL) The relief doesn't last very long, but for a little while it is blissful. Sandi

Lol As long as you laugh , that is the important thing. Reading on................ Regarding TB. All I know is that I was asked had I ever been exposed to TB when they were getting ready to start me on Enbrel. I think it was something to do with it lying latent in your body, the Enbrel can trigger it. I might be way off the mark here but I am sure you will get other more knowledgeable answers. The Pneumonia? I don't know, unless it is something to do with our compromised immune system? Take care,
