Guest guest
Has anyone tried Pycnogenol (Masquelier's here in the U.S.)? It is an antioxidant made of pine bark and grapeseed that is supposed to work as well as commonly prescribed stimulating medications, increasing " focus " and elevating mood. It is used for ADHD but some CFIDS/ME people might be using it. It's non-prescription. I'm on low-dose Dexedrine, which works better than any antidepressant (I've tried many) per the message asking about alternatives to antidepressants. Hi, I have used it, but it is way too expensive! And I really didn't notice any difference so I stick with Vit C. (SNIP) >I'm on low-dose Dexedrine, which works better than any antidepressant >(I've tried many) per the message asking about alternatives to >antidepressants. >Lynea I didn't think docs perscribed dexedrine now! What made him decide to do so? - glad it helps!! I wouldn't mind trying that myself. Take care, Christie
Guest guest
Ref: SUSYDOG's query on pycnogenol I took pycnogenol for about a year on rec of my primary physician. He prescribed it in place of the multitude of antioxidants I was taking. Pycn. is said to be 50 times stronger than vit. E, 20 times stronger than vit. C. Helps improve circulation, strengthens the whole arterial system. One of the only antioxidants that easily crosses the blood-brain barrier to directly protecct brain cells and help memory. In my experience powerful stuff in the antioxidant dept - I scrapped all others and it worked well. One interesting fact which turned up after talking to people about it, was that grape seed extract (which is much much cheaper) seems to do pretty much the same job. As time went on and the brain fog problems and fibromyalgia increased, I found I needed to address each one with a stronger med, and now use a combination of ritalin and wellbutrin for the ADD and neurotransmitter shifts which I need to have a clear mind and almost no pain. Controversial, I know, but it's been working well for a while. My two cents, for anybody it helps...Kat ---------- >From: SUSYDOG@... >onelist >Subject: Re: Re: Pycnogenol >Date: Fri, Oct 29, 1999, 4:05 AM > >From: SUSYDOG@... > >Has anyone tried Pycnogenol (Masquelier's here in the U.S.)? Guest guest
Has anyone here used this? Someone recommended that I use it for my skin, and then I read somewhere it can be helpful for allergies and asthma. I would love to hear any comments either way.
