Guest guest
Hello, I'm brand new to the group but after a Google search I noticed a couple posts about ammonia smelling stools and I wanted to see if anyone has the same or similar issues as us. I have 2 boys on the spectrum age 4 and 2 1/2. They have both been " super poopers " and have 4-10 poopy diapers per child daily. This is not an exaggeration, I think our " record " was 4 poopy diapers and it wasn't even noon yet. Anyways, a large majority of these diapers stink of ammonia. My boys were on the GF/CF diet for over 9 months but aside from not being as bloated, the stools stayed the same. We've been taking them to a Ped's GI specialist and had a EGD done in April but it came back negative for Celiac and 's disease. Along with Autism, Ammonia diapers and GI issues they also have Vitiligo and both had severe Jaundice at birth {I was told billirubin count should be lower than 13 but they were both in Mid 20's} and hospitalized for 3 days. I can't help but think that it must be linked to the liver but I'm not really having any luck on the message board I belong to so I thought I'd try my luck here. Thanks for any info.
