Dear FORUM,

To mark the ocassion of World TB Day (24th March), Public Awareness for

Healthful Approach for Living (PAHAL) conducted a TB awareness Nukkad Natak in

collaboration with American Organization for Development of Bihar (AODB), USA.

Nukkad Natak was played with the theme of how to control the spread of TB in

society.

Medical Director PAHAL Dr Diwakar Tejaswi stated that as Gandhi Maidan is ever

crowded place, we choose this place for maximum audience. He informed that in

every 3 minutes there is 2 deaths due to TB in India and 8% to 10 % of all TB

cases are Multi Drug Resistant (MDR) TB which is very costly and difficult to

treat.

More so, the mortality in MDR TB is very high. It will be devastating for Bihar

it the appropriate control measures are not taken seriously. Even there is

eminent threat of spread of the deadliest Extensively Drug Resistant TB (XDR TB)

according to WHO.

He warned not to stop TB treatment in between and always take the full

prescribed course of treatment otherwise MDR TB cases will keep rising.
