Guest guest
I don't see why we have to have a battle over anything. I’m posting a question on a group with the purpose to exchange information. Obvious what work for one child may not work for another. We are all adults here. My son dosage was change two times by his DAN already with the same reaction very moody and aggressive to others. I have never seen him that way. I’m very happy to see other parents having good experience with DMSA. I don't believe I will continuum using DMSA.I have an appointment next week with his DAN to discuss our options. That is the reason I post a question at this group.  I’m sorry if bothers anyone. Thank you for your help!  A.Simon,  " I know God promises not to give me more than I can handle.  I just wish he didn't trust me so much. " -Mother From: Pamela H <phaselow@...> Subject: [ ] Re:(ROGER)Affording DAN doctor bills Date: Thursday, December 31, 2009, 12:26 PM  to avoid others jumping in and turning this in to a big battle... could you and take this privately? I think you will find it a more pleasant experience. I'm sure there have already been posts talking about the dangers of chlorella and mercury toxicity. You should read up on other methods of chelation other than DMSA. ALA is a good option and will help remove mercury from brain tissue. Sorry you are having trouble. First, take a look at the dose of DMSA, the timing of your doses and whether or not you are using anything to fight yeast while chelating. The dose should be 1/8-1/2 mg per lb (per dose) and given every 3-4 hours. I can imagine you are using much higher doses and giving it every 8 hours if you are working with a doctor. Try lowering the milligrams and giving it every 4 hours before you dump DMSA altogether. Pam > > > > > > First consider whether the things this DAN doc is doing are useful, > necessary, and helpful. Guest guest
Hi Simon, I agree that what work for one child may not work for another. But be sure to use only proven chelators and and sensible protocols. So far, to my knowledge, the proven chelators are DMSA, DMPS, ALA, and EDTA(not for Mercury). I have not heard from any parent that their child is cured with Chlorella or any other " NATURAL " chelator (I believe in what parents say, not the so called " EXPERTS " ). I tried several " NATURAL " chelators with ZERO improvement. Big waste of money. At the same time, I believe they are harmless (and useless) too. Good luck. Guest guest
OK, but be prepared for anything. People have strong opinions, and conversations often decompensate, so I was (am) hoping to avoid rehashing old business. It was just some friendly advice. How low has your DMSA dose been and how frequently do you give it? You've never answered that one. Like I said before, most DAN! docs use way too much DMSA and dose every 8 hrs and I'm guessing yours is no different. Guest guest
Hi, I appreciate every one that is trying to help us. We had treat yeast issues before start chelation. We had use PureKids when we were treating yeast with no problems. Now his DAN told us to try chelating . We start for 5 days he took two capsules of DMSA pills at morning and two capsules DMSA pills at night. Took 5 five days off DMSA. The other supplements are 1capsules NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine/AM and PM), Probioticts (I’m giving 1capsules at night before he goes to bed),1vitamin C-500 methoxyflavone (morning and at night), 1capsules Liver Protect (PM),B-6 (AM),two capsules Omega -3 (Nordic Naturals at AM),vitamints (AM). He has been on a gluten, casein ,soy and dye free diet for seven years now. I’m trying to be low carbs but he doesn’t eat much of anything else. I do give carbs with protein. On the 5th day he took DMSA he was very impatient, moody and hipper the second day off he was moody and aggressive. When I went to get him at school he was yelling at the teacher and try to hit her (had never try to hit anyone before). My DAN told me to take two weeks break and give him DMSA for two days and have five days off. He took two capsules DMSA for two days AM and PM(Sunday and Monday) at Wednesday he had a great day but at night he was completed out of control yelling and aggressive behaviors (still better than taking for 5 days). He is doing this on the days he is off the medication. Today (Thursday) he was fine all day, so far. My son is on a small private school thanks to a scholarship. The director of the school has an autistic child too. She did chelate him. However she think I should not do it with my son because he is 12 years old, 164 pounds , height 5.5. She thinks he will get violent on DMSA not only for the chelation process but for yeast problems that can have with that. She thinks he won’t be able to be at school. So I’m very discouraged. I’m a single mom with no family. I just can’t be off work to take care of him. My job is the only income we got. It took so long for us to start chelating because I could not afford before. I read on the book Healing and preventing Autism  to use Epsom salt at night and activated charcoal two or three time at day if chelation is causing regression. They also talk about DMSA suppository it won’t cause yeast problems. I know is uncomfortable but I’m think about ask the DAN about that. The DMSA capsule are 65mg( Succinic Acid from 100mg DMSA) the NAcetyl Cysteine are 600mg . Thank you so much for take the time to give us advice. I’m lost and scare!! " -Mother From: Liz <elizabethsoliday@...> Subject: [ ] Re:(ROGER)Affording DAN doctor bills Date: Thursday, December 31, 2009, 5:48 PM  Hi A Simon, I would try lowering the dose of DMSA, giving more adrenal support and perhaps a trial of lithium orotate for symptoms, high antioxidants (Vit C, E, milk thistle, zinc), lots of B vitamins (food-based if synthetic not tolerated), and epsom salt baths. If yeast is a problem, you could help with yeast by not having many sweets in the house, giving low carb diet, giving Candex/Candidaise, probiotics after meals and before bedtime, and cultured vegetables (if you are up to making them and if he will eat them). I just started making coconut kefir and it does taste pretty bad, but added to a smoothie, you can't even tell it's even there. My son was very aggressive/moody and he has completely calmed down. If you've been giving him DMSA for awhile with these symptoms, try taking a couple, 2-3 weeks break and just supplementing and treating yeast before starting at a lower dose. I would hate to see you abandon Andy Cutler's protocol because of bad symptoms, I hope I have offered you some suggestions that may be helpful and I apologize for intruding but I can totally relate to the bad reactions because we went through that for a long time. It ended and we are seeing improvements now. I wish you and your child the best no matter what you choose to do. Guest guest
Have you looked into any grants. They are out there. Can be hard to find and many have a window of when you can apply but they can be very helpful. > > > > > > > > First consider whether the things this DAN doc is doing are useful, > > necessary, and helpful. Guest guest
A. Simon, please go to the files section of the group and read Andy_protocol in the Microsoft word or .pdf version. This is what most of us are doing with our children, it is the safest, most efficient way to chelate. Your DAN!'s protocol is improper and it is unacceptible that she expects your child will not be able to attend school while chelating, there IS a better way. Many of our children are chelating on the weekends and able to attend school with little, if any, disruption. Yeast is going to be a constant battle until the metals are gone, but it is controllable. I hope you will consider taking your child's health into your own hands by educating yourself on Andy Cutler's protocol and when you have learned the benefits of it, perhaps you could encourage your DAN! to follow your child while he is doing it. > > > > > > > > First consider whether the things this DAN doc is doing are useful, > > necessary, and helpful. Guest guest
Thank you! I will take a look on the file.Another supplement that he takes is taking Calcium Magnesium Citrate. Also on Wednesday after the second try of DMSA when he throw the tantrum he was exhausted. His eyes look tired.I thought he had pink eye but he woke up fine today. I will look the file right now.I'm thinking to have the days off on weekends he is having a hard time on the day he is off the DMSA. I did applied for some grants so far no luck on that. Guest guest
Yes, please read the Files on low dose/high frequency chelation. You can do this yourself with the DMSA you have from your MD: try giving DMSA every 4 hours (not 2 capsules per day) for 72 hours. Usually people chelate from Friday-Monday to avoid school hours. The dose for a child your size *can* be the 65mgs, but perhaps you should start with a lower dose like 25 mgs. I am confident that your son will tolerate DMSA every four hours much better than taking it every 12 or every 8 hours. It has to do with the half life of DMSA and keeping the blood levels of DMSA constant to avoid as much heavy metal redistribution as possible. For now, stop the NAC and just use the DMSA. You can add the NAC in later when you are more stable with the DMSA. Sometime NAC can cause problems, too. Keep up with the probiotics. Size and age do not determine if your child will tolerate chelation. Your school director has inaccurate information. What is important is the manner in which you chelate. Don't give up hope.
