Guest guest
> I've been on this list for quite some time and decided to start chelation last weekend with DMSA 5 mg. My son is 50 pounds but I wanted to start him out on a small dose because he usually sensitive to most supplements. Things went well over the weekend except the night dosing was a bit tough. He is hard to wake up and gets grumpy, so this was a long struggle. Anyways, we completed the first round with not much of any side effects. He's had a mild cough for the last 2 weeks since he had a cold. Yesterday he woke up with a more barking sound cough. Does this just sound coincidental or do you think that the DMSA might of stirred something up? I have an appointment with our natural chiropath tomorrow but wondering if I should see a pediatrician today? A cough following an illness meant yeast in the lungs here. And if it increased with chelation, I would definitely consider increasing the yeast protocol. Dana
Guest guest
Since he is getting sicker, it seems, I would skip this round until the illness goes away. I would also stick with 5 mgs for a couple of rounds and then jump up to 7.5mgs. I'm not thinking the DMSA has anything to do with the increased coughing, but maybe others think otherwise. This is the season for illnesses. Try using oil of oregano (North American Herb and Spice makes a very small wild OoO gel cap) to keep your son free from long term colds. I do not get colds when I take that stuff daily. I used to ALWAYS get colds; several per season that would just drag on and on. Sambucol is nice, too; elderberry extract. Guest guest
My nt 7 year old got the barking cough right before Christmas. He was retracting, which I hadn't seen in years. I thought for sure pneumonia. We went in to see our ped and she said his lungs sounded good, everything was up more in his throat. Anyway....we hit the " old " asthma meds known to work for him, and badly needed. We did flovent for support and albuterol (some generic other name) and we pulled through with no other needs. No terrible fever, think just viral myself and ped thought so. I'm in Wi. Try cold air, even ice cubes in water, or heat/shower, lots of vit c, d. Lasted about 4-5 days before all done. He did well back on the old asthma meds. Good luck. Guest guest
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I'll put off chelation for another week and try some natural yeast fighters to see if that helps.
