Hi fellow listmates,

I'm really sorry. This is totally off-topic but I can't help myself. I

received this email from a friend of mine whose very good friend's father works

for the FEMA (Federal Emergency Managment Agency).

http://www.governmentguide.com/govsite.adp?bread=*Main* & url=http%3A//www.fema.go\

v/

Joyce

DEAR FRIENDS,

I hate to try and scare you with e-mails , but I received this today and i

wanted to share it will all of you. Please take caution of your surroundings.

Mike

PS I have attached something else that is touching.

Subject: A message from an employee at FEMA

This is not a joke. I received it from someone who has a relative at FEMA.

sorry for the mass email, but I got important news tonight. My dad works

for FEMA and he's really involved with the goings on in NYC. He told me

that within the last 24 hours, more than 30 Ryder, U-Haul, and Verizon

trucks have been reported stolen across the country. The U-Haul and

Ryder trucks were rented and then never returned, so they're considered

stolen. Many of them were rented by people of Arab descent. I don't mean

to make any assumptions, and I certainly don't want to scare you, but I

thought you all might like to know. Be wary of these vehicles, pay

attention to them, and don't walk or park near them. He said to stay out

of major public places if at all possible because recreational sites

would most likely be hit on weekends. I'm sorry to cause alarm, but he

told me it was ok to share this information. If you'd like to foward it

to anyone you know, feel free, as there is a possibility it might save

lives.

Hi Tia

You could ask your endo for a " trial " of Thyroxine, this could show

him your need for treatment if you respond well to it. I would wait

for the results of your further tests. Alot of us here have to self

prescribe but that is always a last resort. You will find alot of

information on this site look in the files on the left hand side.

Dear Tia

Just wanted to say welcome and to tell you you are in goods hand now

you have joined this great group.

The good thing is that this guy is going to have all these test done,

some will not even consider them and are in fact dismissive of them.

Its also very good that they are doing an ACTH test too to check on

your adrenal function, and also your cortisol levels.

How insulting to ask you to see a psychiatrist, at lot of the members

here have had similar. When I broke down once in front of my endo, I

said before you even think it, I wish you to know that I am NOT

depressed in the true sense of the word, I am in fact disenchanted

and disillusioned about not being treated properly and these are

tears of frustration.

I too have very similar TSH and T4 to you but tests proved I have

autoantibodies thus Hashimoto's Disease or auto-immune thyroiditis.

Best wishes

Pat

and support here - and I can also tell you that yes, there is light

at the end of the tunnel.

Dear Tia,

I think you are feeling the way you are because things are going

wrong inside your body. If your endo isn't listening to you, I hope

that others will be able to help guide you to someone who can help

you and will actually listen to you.

I joined this forum a number of weeks ago and the support I have

received has been wonderful. Nearly everyone here is having

problems with their thyroid function. So please ask questions and

be assured that people will try and help.

Many of your symptoms sound familiar to me as I suffer from a number

of them myself. I especially relate to you saying that your memory

and concentration are poor - me too!

Could you ask your doc to screen for T3. The reason I mention it is

because my T3 levels have dropped over time and they are a concern

because they keep dropping and my Reverse T3 level is above the

normal reference range. If the doc looked just at my TSH and Free

T4, they would have never known exactly what was going on inside.

I would be firm with the doctor about the psychiatrist - if you

don't feel like you need to go, don't go. I had a friend who told

me that perhaps I should consider anti-depressants. That response

just showed me that she really didn't understand what was happening

inside my body. I'm not depressed. I just have very low energy

most of the time. I'm not in bed sleeping a lot because I feel

depressed. I'm there because I'm REALLY, REALLY exhausted most of

the time (mind you, I had a great couple of days with good energy a

couple of days ago, but that is sort of going by the wayside now).

Just a thought, but my doc is now checking FSH, testosterone, E1,

E2, E3 (oestrogen related things) and progesterone. I've also had

my plasma zinc, selenium, 25-hydroxy-Vitamin D and copper levels

done in the past. Perhaps you might want to think about getting

those things checked too. I've also had millions of others tests,

but too many to mention right now.

Apologies for shocking grammar but I over did it today and now brain

feels a little scrambled. Always happens if I over exert myself.

Sound familiar?

Hi hon

I am sorry you are feeling so bad, I know those symptoms well most of

them, I know the depression well too and I have been on anti

depressants now for years because I had no idea that there was any

other choice;now I would have a terrible time coming off them. Bit of

advice, if you do go on any medication for depression don't go on the

newer types that are REALLY horrible to get off like the SSRi s. The

doc told me they weren't addicitive WOW the internet is full of people

stuck on these things. So if you accept any google them first and see

how many people are stuck on them with horrendous withdrawal symptoms.

If you feel it is just because you are ill then you can emphasise that

the best way to get rid of the depression is to get rid of the root

cause which SOUNDS very like hypo symptoms to me and I am sure most of

the other suffers on this board who will be familiar with them.

Don't forget if you are not satisfied with treatments or diagnosis you

can always ask for a second opinion, and a third etc. Keep going and

God bless

lotsa luv

Tia,

You are in the right place....

I only joined this group a short time ago but the support and advice

has been fantastic. For the first time in years I really can see the

light at the end of a very long tunnel and I feel as though I am

starting to get my body back.

I know there's no easy fix, but you will get there and you will get

your life back because now you have the support of lots of other people

who've been there too.

Good luck

Hi Tia - welcome to the group. My heart goes out to you - seriously. I had many of the symptoms that you have - my main worry was the memory and concentration loss and the tiredness, but I also had the pains, hair loss, puffy face, weight gain etc etc!! I think one of the reasons why people whose TSH is 'normal' are not treated is because the majority of people are diagnosed before they get symptoms, or at least not the aches and pains and memory loss!

My TSH was 2.5 and my GP told me I was depressed, referred me to a rheumatologist and a gynaecologist and gave me antidepressants and the option of a counsellor (No!!). Eventually I was told I had fibromyalgia by the rheumatologist and this gave me something to search for - I realised that the aches and pains (fibromyalgia) were symptoms of hypothyroidism and so were all my other symptoms! I found this group thank heaven!

What I did was get my bloods done privately through NPtech (in the files), find out an endo who would likely treat me even though my TSH was 'normal' - because I had symptoms (found the endo through this group and Sheila can help you with this).

I was started on levothyroxine at my first visit because of my blood tests - even though my GP had put her head on one side when i asked for the referrall and said but they're still normal. (Grrrr!! as Sheila would say!).

Im much improved but not fully and the endo thinks my bloods are fine - which on the face of it they are, but I still have the aches and pains, so Ive ordered Armour. I feel that I have given the NHS over a year to get it right and it hasnt so Im treating myself. This is not ideal and its much better if you can get a diagnosis of hypothyroidism even if the treatment they offer doesnt work - it has worked for me until now, when I still demand further improvement which the NHS endo isnt going to give me.

You will get better, you really will - all your symptoms are so blatantly hypothyroid (although some conditions apparently can cause the same such as adrenal problems, candida etc) I place my bet that you are hypothyroid!

The book that someone has posted a link to (the Dr Toft BMA book) may be helpful. Also, you must remember that the TSH test is not 100% accurate but only 95% - most GPs and many endos do not act as though this is the case though! But it might help to suggest to the GP/endo that you might be one of the 5% for whom the TSH test doesnt work and that the NHS guidance actually says that the TSH test should be considered alongside symptoms - the TSH test might also say this, not sure!

Stick around Kid - you will get loads of help and advice from this group and you will get help one way or another!!

Gill x

I am writing this e-mail because I really hope you can help.

For the past 5 years I have had to live with terrible pain: neck, shoulders, back, lower back, hands and feet that swell and many more.

I have also lots of headaches, vision trouble (floaters everywhere, and i really mean everywhere; pain behind my eyes that are either sharp or like an headache; shooting stars)

My hair on my head is falling and very dry and brittle; also it gets really coarse and grows damaged from the roots.

My pubic hair is falling too and even more coarse than the hair on my head.

I found this

It gets excreted by your kidneys since they are very effective in

eliminating excess magnesium from your blood, however, patients with renal

failure or impaired kidney function can suffer from an overdose of

magnesium, where its symptoms include:

* Weakness

* Nausea & Vomiting

* Hypotension, which later on can lead to shock

* Irregular breathing

* Arrhythmia & Asystole, since it causes conduction delays in the

heart, being a calcium channel blocker

Higher concentrations of magnesium in the blood can eventually lead to a

complete heart block and later on a cardiac arrest.

Good luck. I am not sure . The UL is listed as 300mg. 3 tsp of calm = 615 mg

(based on diarheaa) If you had a quarter cup. 12 teaspoons in a quarter cup

means 12 x 615 = 7380mg of magnesium.

I took too much natural calm (magnesiu citrate) like 1/4 cup of the powder.

It called to start with 1tsp. The pharmacy said to call poison control. Do

you think its necessary, since they charge for this?

I just called my Mom because she is a big fan of Natural Calm. She will

literally boil water, then pour the powder in the cup of hot water, no

measuring!!!! Not saying this is so not right; she does this as a laxative.
