" When my ex (type A) was pregnant with my second child, she craved

strawberries. Since we were living in Idaho in the middle of the

winter, there were no fresh strawberries back then so she ate

strawberry preserves by the spoonful.

Used to make my teeth hurt just to watch her--LOL. "

HA! I tell ya! Cravings are awful! I've never had alcohol in my

life but I think that I could easily sympathize within an alcoholic

or someone with another form of addiction! I know it's a totally

different circumstance but I'm sure that the " I gotta have it " is

very much the same!

for us....After some endless food lists & sleuthing & experimenting, spnding a

good yearish altogether focusing on food connections, found that - my girl

reacts to red foods, but does ok with red food coloring.

Side note - she does tolerate very limited amounts of red foods, mostly

*tomatoes! she says*, except for watermelon, which she never tolerated well, but

can no longer eat at all, (my guess is) after having too many red foods within a

weekish, she had an allergic reaction.

Yellow/orange foods are mostly all good with her, but yellow food coloring is

totally not good & we avoid any yellow/orange/green food colorings. elizabeth

Year ago I did a cooking class with Jacque Pepin, and he did a simple

dessert that included fresh strawberries, a splash of balsamic vinegar

and a sprinkle of sugar. Let macerate for about 30 minutes and serve.

I freeze my strawberries on cookie sheets, them package them. Have done both

ways: with and without hulls and personally don't notice any flavor difference

in my smoothies.

answer for next time. If I am using strawberries in a smoothie, is it necessary

to take off the leafy tops?

Boo hoo! You must live in the south, I am jealous, still under a foot of snow

here with strawberries at least 3 months away. I want some! Oh, last year I

made some jam and froze it in bags, just used the last one, oh my, yum yum!

For me too , I was there in 1991. I can't imagine how it has all changed since then. I live in Florida, directly across from the Kennedy Space Center and approximately an hour east of Orlando. I do have to admit that the weather is great most of the time, except for those occassional tropical storms and hurricanes. No matter what part of the country you live in, we are all facing occasional freak weather patterns these days. Our winters are getting colder with more plants and bushes dying that never had any problems before.

Oh I hear you Sandy, but then it was just me feeling guilty after I complained about all the snow fall and then turned on the news.

We have lots of snow here still. I usually don't mind because I like to downhill ski but this year I have not been able to get away, only once. Ski hill is 3 hours away and it is expensive.
