Guest guest
I just looked on their site and it doesn't list that FO as body safe.. ALL of their FOs are not body safe, just ones noted as body safe are... per website: MillCreek fragrance oils also work beautifully in other types of waxes and applications such as: beeswax, paraffin, Smelly Jelly mixes, bath and body products, lotion and soap bases, bath salts, and corn cob granules. Look for 'Body Safe' on the fragrances
Guest guest
> I made some M & P soap last night and honestly I thought it turned out ok. I got a great lather and it smelled and felt great until I got out of the tub and parts not all which I found odd were blotchy red and on my face where I had somewhat of a burning sensation. Not real bad but enough to concern me as I don't want anyone else using my soap to have the same problem. I went to the webpage where my FO came from and it says on there their FO's are not only candle safe but bath and body safe as well. I'm thinking maybe to much FO? Your thoughts. Any ideas on how to fix this skin irritation? ~ Thanks I'm not a soap maker so maybe I shouldn't comment, but I don't use FO's in my products, only EO's. Call me a snob but there is growing evidence that people are more likely to have a sensitivity or reaction to synthetics rather than natural oils, and -- more importantly to me -- synthetics vary widely from company to company. Of course there's variation in essential oils, too, but if I have two companies that produce quality lavender essential oil, I feel more confident because I know what the chemical components of what high quality lavender essential oil are supposed to be whereas I have no clue what the ingredients in a synthetic lavender fragrance may be and a fragrance company doesn't have to tell you because it's a proprietary formula. Of course, if you're using essential oils you have to do research to know which ones create photosensitivity, etc. but research is part of the game of making products in my opinion. Guest guest
Aloha! That fragrance may have had cinnamon and cloves in it that could have caused the burning of your skin. I would suggest reading carefully from now on and using EOs when possible. Lemon, grapefruit, orange, and mango have high acid in them so EO and fragrance oils will tend to bur sensitive skin. Some scents do not come in EO or they are too expensive so go ahead and use the cheaper fragrance but put a little less of it in than the recipe calls for if it needs two teaspoons full put one and a half in. I also know that melt and pour soaps are not really the best on the skin. Often they have to much coconut oil in them that is hard on the skin. I suggest rebatching or making soap the old fashioned way. If you need some home made goats milk soap for rebatching I have 10 lb extra. Email me for the price and instructions how to use it in the easy crock pot method. Leia

Any ideas on how to fix this skin irritation? ~ Thanks , for my two cents' worth, I have been taught that you should NOT use EOs and FOs - or coloring - formulated for candles and lamps for bath products, as those EOs and FOs are harsher and may irritate some people's skins. Try those fragrances in the bath and soap section. They have a lot to choose from. It could be too much FO, too. Some FO/EOs aren't meant to stay on the skin for very long. As for the burning, I don't know what to do, except wetting a face cloth and blotting your spots. Not sure if Cort-Aid would help ease the burning there. HTH, Anita B. Guest guest
I know this is not always the case but I have several FOs that were formulated to be used in cosmetic products that turned out to hold up great in candles but they are usually sold by soapers sites. So I guess it is something you have to choose your sources and ask questions on to be sure. But since the site says it is skin safe I am wondering what the FO is and if it might have an EO blended into it that might cause a skin sensitivity like Cassia, clove, or peppermint? Patty S.
