Well Andi,

I am doing pretty good I guess. It is just the gall bladder that I thought was gonna come out. Now they don;t seem so sure that is what it is at all that is causing this pain. I do know that my liver is swollen and aches. All my lft's came out fine and they do not think it is my liver but want to make sure so I will have an abdominal ct scan Tuesday. So now it is just the waiting.

As for Hunt, he is down in that state of yours right now. He is in Tallahassee with all the ballgame crazies. He really likes Florida State and even though he knew he could not get a ticket to the game, he went to visit friends and to enjoy the excitement. I don;t blame him a bit, just hope he rest for a few minutes and remembers to behave. I am sure he will though. His lft's are still high but have come down tremendously. They are still 269 and 550. BUT they were in the 1000's just a few weeks ago. He feels fine, just s shame that it takes meds to make him feel fine.

I am glad to hear that you are doing better. It seems that you have been though quite a lot in your days. What va hospital do you go to?

Hope you have a great weekend.

I have not come across a natural cure for HCV. I have seen scherings stage II trials where a small percentage of people have cleared the virus while receiving a placebo. There are reported cases of Children clearing the virus without any form of treatment. These incidents I find interesting and hope that a researcher will follow up on these incidents. I am not aware of any cure either "natural" or "allo" that has shown to be effective in completely elimanating the virus.

I do agree with you 100% when it comes to thise who would seek to profit from those who are suffering from HCV by offering cures. I am not a fan of capital punishment...but after you spend a few hours with some who has laid out thousands of dollars for this months quick and easy natural cure and find

themselves in intensive care with liver or kidney failure...I could easily

change my mind. Have you ever sat with someone with blood pouring out of

every orifice including their skin? It's something that you never forget.

I am aware of a Canadian who claims marijuana has cured his hepc, and for this person addiction theropy is indicated. For myself I do use marijuana to releive the spasms when the meds I have are not effective. I will not dwell

on in this area as I understand your indifference.

Hopefully we can move on to what is really important. Assisting those who are suffering from this disease and ensuring they have an outlet for their fears and receiving the support that persons suffering from this disease dearly

need.

Gaulke wrote:

Andy,

I didn't come here for anything except to see what's

going on and maybe pick up some knowledge and share

some.

My concern is people clearing the virus and don't see

how smoking would help livers ravaged by HCV.

As far as all the rest: we don't know each other do

we? For all we know we agree on more than you think.

Let me ask you something: have you run across a

natural cure for HCV in the time you've been involved?

I can't see a giant conspiracy by the medical

community to deny us a cure. I know drug companies are

not bloodthirsty in some cases: looks at AIDS drugs in

Africa.

At any rate, this "debate" has gone on long enough for

me so let's go back to the usual.

Perhaps they've made some sort of mirror similar to those that

bicyclists wear on their helmets so we can see that danged LED light?

;^) This is perhaps my only pet peeve with my implant. When this light

blinks, I'm dead. That's why I always try to remember to carry a spare

set of batteries. Funny as it seems, I never need it whenever I carry

them with me, but whenever I do forget to carry them, I NEED them! Oh

well.

Hope things are going well with you, !

Best,

Andy

Hey Andy,

How the heck are you supposed to SEE the low light when the speech

processor is on your head? LOL. Just kidding. I know, it's for

teachers and parents. But the mental image of all the wall eyed folks

looking for their light struck me as funny.

Andy,

Your message made me smile. I have a different

comment about batteries. I always have spares with me

and I'm now getting anywhere from 60-70 hours on my 3G

With the first implant it seems as if it never failed

for me to be talking to my son...there must be

something about his voice - and my batteries would

beep and say good night. We've had this joke between

us and he now expects it to happen when I talk to him.

I didn't even have to tell him when it happened. He

could just tell by the look on my face.

I haven't seen him since the second implant but will

be visiting him next month. It's going to be really

interesting if it happens again with the new one.

I never ever leave home without fresh batteries! And there have

been many many times when I could have been in deep trouble. Being

blind is one reason why I do NOT forget my batteries. LOL

Andy, you said you know when your batteries are due to croak out

on yuh. Well, is waiting for the right moment, so don't let

him get away with it. What if you get stuck somewhere, held up by

gridlock, or Mama Nature decides to mess with you, etc?

Hi Andy!

Thank you for taking the time to answer the questions about whether

or not the Med-El Tempo BTE processors give warning beeps or not. It

is a weird feeling to just suddenly stop hearing with out a warning

or sense that sounds are getting softer. I'll have to be sure to

remember to always take batteries everywhere, eh! And I guess I

should make sure I have fresh batteries in both processors before

special/important events. It would be a bummer to loose hearing in

the middle of a movie or meeting.

--- Dear Andy and BuneWabbit,

I do have Med El and had my batteries dead right in the middle of

the sermon at the church and missed the rest of it. So from now on I

put new batteries before I went to the church. When the batteries go

out, I put back the previous batteries on that wasn't dead yet.

Hiya, Andy,

Sooo glad you have a sense of humor! Whew! I DO know what you are

talking about. And we ARE mature adults here. OK, OK - MOST of us are! LOL

Curious minds want to know, however, how you keep the coil on! LOL I did try

it

and the darn thing was just a distraction when it kept falling off my head!

No need to answer, I'm NOT using duct tape!

(Confidential to those who think this forum is censored - See???? it's

not! :oP )

.........returning to mature self...... Continued success and fun, Andy!

Hello everyone...and inquiring minds...

Haha...sure opened myself on this topic, didn't I? No worries!

How'd you know I used duct tape? Yet another use for the miracle tape

and counting...

Seriously, the type of woman with determines whether I should keep it on

or not...if I have the choice, I WANT to keep my CI on. If things get a

bit wild and she's running her hands through my hair, it'll keep coming

off; if she understands that that thing on my head needs to stay on,

she's more careful. True, some are more wild and into it than

others...which keeps things interesting. Got to keep coming up (sheesh,

why'd that sound a lil...you know?) with new strategies. Chances are

your partner will have fun helping with new strategies because s/he has

never had a 'problem' like this before. Have fun with it, laugh about

it, go with it.

Now, if it keeps falling off your head, I think you're enjoying yourself

too much there... LOL I would suggest a stronger magnet strength

specifically for...strenuous activities.

, have your audiologist try it out himself and have him explain,

in his best medical terminology, how that danged thing can stay on. As

for not having a place to put it, just use your imagination - that's

what its for! ;^)

Alrighty, I'm glad we're all enjoying this! Keep it real, and Jackie,

of course I'll continue to have fun! After all, that's what life is

about, eh? Same goes for you and everyone else, too.

Best,

Andy

Hey, Andy. It's great to see you posting. I know you are busy but I'm

glad you found the time to answer the Med-El questions. I'm sure you

can't keep up with all the mail here but we do have questions from time

to time that you would be best to answer. For the rest of the group,

Hi Andy - Kurt is one of our mainstays, even though, as he says, we've had a

run in or two. But we're all friends and fellow patients now.

You would do very well to speak with him.

There is also no reason not to post to the group. Your call.

Thanks ,

I'm just trying to be more careful these days. It's easy for you and I to talk

about anything, but as everyone knows I'm finding out that many people are very

sensitive and not used to a lot of exposure and others simply don't want to know

that much about what is going on and would rather let their doc make all those

decisions...........

I understand and don't disagree with anything anyone wants to do for themselves.

But, when I speak about things, I'm very frank and I'm just calling it as I see

it, nothing held back and I want to make sure thats all right. I don't want to

make people uncomfortable.

Anyway, I'll check in later as Andy expressed.

Side note --

The DVD will be in North American format and won't play on a standard UK player. You might want to inquire if anyone can convert it for you before you go to the expense and hassle of having the DVD shipped overseas.

Hi Andy and Debbi, Over here in Holland it was no problem to play the dvd. If you have a player that is as we call it region-free, than one can play (those are mostly the cheepest DVD-players, not those expensive first players that were on the market). The costs for shipping overseas really aren't high (somewhere around $ 5,00). Love, IsabellaDebbi Heiser <imahockeymom@...> wrote: Side note -- The DVD

Isabella and Debbi

Thanks for pointing that out but

as I do have a region free DVD player it should be OK – the only other

thing is the PAL or NTSC thing but as Isabella had no problem that should be

fine as well. RE the shipping it is minimal really and I have had loads shipped

out from the States from eBay sellers and quite often cheaper than from the UK.

Thanks for the advice Pippa, will def give them a call on Monday.

I remember when I tried to put the date back as it was awkward with work they

said it was not a good idea as the doctor had said he wanted to see me urgently

with regards the weight loss and I suspect they are just treating it as an

ordinary case.
