Guest guest
Andy- I have a 2yr old patient who has done the hair elements test and some bloodwork. My question is about his zinc level and the huge discrepancy between hair and serum levels. He did not meet the counting rules for deranged minerals. Do we use different rules on young children (2 yr olds)?? Summary of results: Lead at 1.1, mercury at .13. Yellow zone for 9 other toxic elements. Total toxic - in red zone. Rule 1 = 13, Rule 2= 3, Rule 3 = 13. Even though this child does not meet counting rules, he is skewed enough and has sufficient toxic elements to require chelation of sorts. Anyway -- Question- Hair zinc is at 52 - low red zone - range is 100-190 Serum zinc is at 407 High - with range from 70-150. Hair copper at 14 = green zone - range is 11-18 Serum copper is 99 - range is 70-155 Could this be an indication of a zinc metabolism problem where zinc is not being absorbed or utilized in his body and therefore is low on hair and high in the blood? Could he require more zinc regardless of high serum levels? Are there substances to aid in zinc metabolism? Thanks a million for your insight on this -- Dalton, MNT
