Guest guest
Hi - I felt compelled to answer your question re: OLE as I have had a lot of experience with it. I used it as part of my protocol to cure myself of a very persistent systemic yeast infection several years ago. It is not an oil, usually capsule or tablet. The important thing is to use a type called 'Olivir', it's not really a brand, but I believe refers to the way it is extracted. Other types I tried did nothing. Here is one site where I found it: http://organicpharmacy.org/products/Olivir.-.Kordial. You can find more by googling olivir. It kills lots of things, and also aids the immune system. I don't know if it kills spirochaetes, but have been thinking about adding it to my anti-Lyme protocol just to see. Anyway, hope this helps. Guest guest
My doctor is having me take a product called TOTAL VIRX by Nutri-West and it has Olice Leaf Powder and Olive Leaf Extract as well as other ingredients. I have Lyme and coinfections. So, I have a call in right now for my doctor to see if the Olive Leaf product is for lyme, coinfections or both. I'll let you know. By the way, I've been treating lyme for about 4 months and on a scale of 1-10, I was a #10 being very bad and now am a #2 being very good. Still have a ways to go but I'm getting there. Take care. Guest guest
Okay, my doctor's office called me and told me that Olive Leaf is used to treat lyme and co-infections BUT it works on some people and others it does not. Hope this helps. Take care. Guest guest
HI Ellen! I absolutely love OLE because it's anti-bacterial, antiparasitic, anti viral, and antifungal--in the past it has gotten me through some pretty bad health issues (which were brought on by systemic candida). When my progress had plateaued I began taking a few capsules a day, working up to six and within a month the change in my health was amazing. Mind you, as I said, I used this for candida issues primarily--but just like with Lyme, candida allows all sorts of pathogens to breed inside your body that otherwise wouldn't, and I found OLE was particularly good at getting at these co-infections... I get mine through wholeapproach (I don't know if we're allowed to post links here so I won't). If you google it and go to the products page you'll be able to read more about it. I find their products to be great for people who have food and other sensitivities because they have the least additives... In any case, I wish you wellness and recovery--let me know if you decide to ad it to your protocol and how it works for you ok?
Guest guest
According to dr. K, olive leaf extract seemed promising at first but proved disappointing with his patients (not very good results). Guest guest
I took a bottle of Nature's Way olive leaf extract, actually 3 a day (over the recommended dosage on the bottle- 2), noticed no change at all in symptoms, thus I must conclude that olive leaf does not do anything for me. I had heard of it more as an anti-viral than anti bacterial, but it may be both. If an herb does not get into my brain, it will be useless for lyme, since that's the only place I presently have lyme. I have now started allicin(super concentrated garlic- you could not eat this much of the stuff to get this effect..i can tell it's potent since occasionally I'll belch and crazy garlic taste/smell comes up from my digestive tract), cirulation P(has 6-10 herbs in it), and artemisia (w/ astragalus and red rooted sage). This is the beginning phase of Dr. Zhang's herbal protocol. It appears he's had good success with his patients- over 1000 of them. I am still not familiar with Buhner's protocol, but I will be using Zhang's. All herbs come from www.hepapro.com If you want the flow chart of his treatment, and info on the herbs, please email me to send them(may have posted this before on here, I don't keep track). Now, why would Israeli's pull up olive trees? It's my impression that olive trees have always been a very valuable source of income thorughout history, particularly for olive oil/the fruit. Olive leaf as a secondary I suppose. > > > > Thank you guys so much for taking the time to reply to this...I > can't say my symptoms are > > any better, but it feels good to know I'm not the only one dealing > with this--so thank you > > all... > > > > I've started taking olive leaf extract to try to combat these bugs > in me for a while--it's > > always helped me in the past when I've gotten stuck health-wise so > I'm giving it another > > go. Guest guest
Ellen: I used olive leaf for awhile, but didn't notice any effects at all from it. I bought a book from Amazon.com about Olive leaf. It wasn't all that expensive. I still have a bunch of the olive leave in bulk powder here. GiGi on the LymeNet group also took it for awhile and said she saw NO benefits from it either. Maybe some of you who are so sensitive to other herbs could try it and see what happens. jim ### rasheedaas <rasheedaas@...> wrote: Dear , I'd be interested to hear about your experience with olive leaf - past and present. A friend had mentioned it to me as a Lyme fighter, and since I had never heard of its use as a medicinal treatment, I did some research, and found quite a bit about its anti-bacterial properties. [Other properties too maybe, don't remember.] I'm particularly interested in olive leaf, because as you may know, Olive trees have many uses in Palestine, they are a cultural icon, when they are not being pulled up by Israelis. I have even contacted a company to see if they are interested in marketing olive leaf extract as an herbal remedy, and as a source of income for the Palestinians. I think this particular remedy is not well known - at least I had never heard of it, and I've been treating myself with herbs for a long time. So I'd appreciate hearing about what you used it for and how it worked - whenever you feel up to it. wishing you recovery with no more relapses! ellen
Guest guest
YES, GiGi reported at LymeNet that she didn't feel she got ANY results from it. Guest guest
Which brand is a high potency brand (if high potency is important?) Is OLE high fenol/salicylates? Thanks Priscilla

Guest guest
Dana, why did not try valtrex? Any reason? Guest guest
> Dana, why did not try valtrex? Any reason? I try to avoid prescriptions unless there is nothing comparable that is natural. I found that OLE does much the same thing as Valtrex. Plus, Valtrex would not have addressed the underlying cause [neither did OLE] and that is what I really wanted to address. So I guess the bottom line reason is that I didn't need to. Dana
