Guest guest
Yes, we are using the 3 hr day and 4 hr night protocol. She got a dose at 8 am, then turned rotten shortly after that, maybe 1/2 to 1 hour later. Would you still recommend dosing more frequently, with a lower dose? What about nighttime? Thanks for your help. > > I'm assuming you are using the 3/4 hour protocol with the Ala. If not, please do. Try increasing the yeast protocol. Those were yeast symptoms here. Dana

Guest guest
Not sure what others did, but we cut the dose down...but also the time...we had to adjust it down to every 2.5 hrs. Some kids are really sensitive and it seems that ya gotta go lower and keep the timing closer so that the redistribution and dropping doesn't occur...that always made my kids miserable...thus the shorter hours...but also you might double up on your yeast protocol as ALA is terrible on stirring up the yeast. For some of our kids it gets pretty intense. hth Ronni > > We started ALA yesterday afternoon at 1/8mg per lb and my daughter is just miserable this morning - in a really rotten mood, ranting at everyone - it's just awful. Guest guest
Yes, these are symptoms we have seen a lot in her, but we have improved them a lot with supplements, etc. She calmed down after her initial irritability, but right now she is having a full-blown tantrum/rage because she couldn't go somewhere with dad this morning. Behavior hasn't been this bad in a long time I want to give this our best shot, so I will try the more frequent dosing and see if it helps. I will say that we usually need to start low doses with supplements because she tends to have significant reactions to things. I probably should have started with a lower dose. If you or anyone else has any other suggestions, I would love to hear them. THanks. > > > > I'm assuming you are using the 3/4 hour protocol with the Ala. If not, please do. Guest guest
I agree with everything said. I would totally increase the yeast protocol and then make sure that you follow EACH anti-yeast dose/ treatment with activated charcoal (you can dump it in whatever you kid will drink) 2 hours later. It does a nice job of picking up die offs - it MIGHT calm her down! Caution - it will turn anything black (but it is tasteless so it won't alter the taste of the drink). I just have to use opaque sippy cup for my guy and he does not even notice. Hang in there! Guest guest
Thanks. We have used activated charcoal and she swallows the capsules like a pro, and it usually does help to calm her down. It's just that sometimes the dosing is tricky - like, I want to use it *now*, but have to wait a while! Is this an unusual reaction, and is it a signal that maybe this is not the right protocol for us? > > > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > > From: khieken > > > > You can try increasing the yeast protocol as another poster said, but irritability is more associated with yeast die off, not yeast, and I'm doubting that will do much, but still worth a try. > > > > > > >
Guest guest
----- Original Message ----- From: lenakhais Lena, with the AC don't you have to dose away from supplements and the chelator? Guest guest
Activated charcoal will adsorb everything, so I would ask Andy before including it in his protocol. I don't see what would stop it from adsorbing ALA and therefore altering the blood levels, which is contrary to the aims of the protocol. Guest guest
, ALA can lower blood sugar leading to irritability. If she eats more often, the irritability may be lessened. I agree with on the Vitamin C and magnesium. I would put the vitamin C right in the chelator and give the magnesium often but at separate times. > > > > I'm assuming you are using the 3/4 hour protocol with the Ala. If not, please do. Guest guest
I adjusted the time too, but then I figured out it wasn't a problem with timing, it was a blood sugar thing. Definitely agree that lessening the dose helps too. My kids especially tolerated a lesser dose when they were having Candida issues, when the Candida was under control, the tolerance went up. > > Not sure what others did, but we cut the dose down...but also the time...we had to adjust it down to every 2.5 hrs. Guest guest
Yes, you have to dose it away from everything else and if you HAVE to go back to 2.5 hours in between ALAs you might not be able to do charcoal on the round. I agree with another poster - if Andy could weigh in here, that would be ideal. I just know that my child is SO miserable with die off effects, that charcoal is our only savor. It is an extreme pain in the neck to figure out all the dosing though to ensure that it is given far away from all other supps (which at times couldn't be combined EITHER) to avoid wiping off everything. So perhaps the safer route for you is to finish the round (as hard as it is) and then use charcoal after the round to deal with yeast die offs? > > > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > > From: khieken > > > > You can try increasing the yeast protocol as another poster said, but irritability is more associated with yeast die off, not yeast, and I'm doubting that will do much, but still worth a try. > > > > > > > > > > > >

Guest guest
She is 9 yo and 70 lbs, and no, not really strong enough to " take me " yet Things have somewhat calmed down today after upping the frequency to 2.5 hrs. A big " thank you " to all of you who helped me through this today. So, I'm guessing I should expect Monday morning, after our last dose on round, to be pretty bad? Just want to prepare... And, it sounds like things should get better after several rounds? Thanks again. > > > > > > I'm assuming you are using the 3/4 hour protocol with the Ala. If not, please do. Guest guest
Not chelating yet but close - maybe a dumb question but I'm a little confused about this message - does ALA kill yeast or cause yeast? > > > > > > I'm assuming you are using the 3/4 hour protocol with the Ala. Guest guest
Hi is probably right. My son needed more frequent dosing for a while. We did 2.5 hours during the day and 3 at night. He also needed to eat small meals more frequently, healthy snacks and lots of liquids. Once we figured it out we saw a huge difference. I still tend to try to do his dosing like this but he doesn't seem to need it like before. Is she doing DMSA also? Some find side effects lessen when both ALA and DMSA are used. This is true for our son also. Hope this helps and things smooth out for her. This is the best thing we have done for our son. > > > > I'm assuming you are using the 3/4 hour protocol with the Ala. Guest guest
I don't know if this will help, but we give our boys Activated Charcoal once/day when they are on round. The get ALA at 3 AM, 7 AM, 10 AM, 1 PM, 4 PM, 7 PM, AC 9 PM, and ALA again at 11 PM. That way, it's in 2 hours after the ALA dose and 2 hours before the 11 PM dose. I figured the more time you can give between AC and ALA, the better and the night dosing allows for that. i use an infant medicine plunger/syringe and give it to them in their sleep. Guest guest
Yes, ALA has impact on blood sugar - it's being put into most of the blood sugar balancing combination supplements, and used alone for type 2 diabetics. I've had one type 2 diabetic tell me it's the only thing that will bring his blood sugar down - much better than Metformin etc - 300 mg doses at a time. It's really strange to see the wide range of some people doing well on large irregular doses of ALA, and other people having to work quite hard to find out the best way to use it. Guest guest
I wanted to try ALA alone, as we are doing this without a doctor, and I didn't want to get into the hassle of getting a script for DMSA (it's not over-the-counter, correct?) I think low blood sugar probably played some part in this too. I will try to give her food more frequently. The end of the day was so much better than the beginning. I'm hoping it stays that way for tomorrow too. Thanks for the suggestions. > > > > > > I'm assuming you are using the 3/4 hour protocol with the Ala. If not, please do.
