Guest guest
Hi, I have tried this diet thrice with my son, once for three years when he was between two and five, once for three months when he was seven and once for a month when he was nine. He has tested positive for peptides so technically I should see an improvement every time he is on this diet and a regression when i reintroduce gluten or casein. The first three years when we did the diet there was very little to show for it except better appetite and an improvement in toileting awareness. When we also implemented the rotation diet I saw an improvement in bowel movements. Each time Gluten and Casein have been reintroduced there have been no changes in behavior or even bowel movements. Nothing. There has been no improvements in behavior which I can attribute to this diet and this frustrates me because i keep reading about cases where autism practically disappeared when on this diet and reappeared when there was a diet infraction. On the other hand I have seen huge improvements in my son when treating Yeast and Clostridia using Rx. In an effort to get off Rx meds I implemented a low complex carb, high protein and high probiotic diet, somewhat on scd lines and yes he is doing really well on that. While he has casein(lots of Yoghurts) we are off gluten now, but if he has gluten by chance there is no regression- even though his peptides tests say there should be. On the other hand If he sneaks a couple of pieces of chocolate cake which has sugar etc then we see crazy/out of control behavior for a day or two before and while we are killing off the resuscitated yeast and clostridia with Rx. So its not being GF that helps him but being on a diet that doesnt feed the Yeast or clostridia. But that still doesnt tell me why the GFCF diet has made very little difference to my son's life. Any ideas? Harshita
