Guest guest
So I finally joined this bunch.I can't begin to tell you how many times I have been searching about something, when the only results have been archived messages from this group. Having no luck finding a local doctor.that I could work with to get to Harvard,I decided to go with the best DAN! doctor I could find.I am now making arrangements with Dr. Hardy, who tells me I have one of the more medically complicated cases of autism he has ever seen.As I always do when I join these groups,I ask some questions to see how unique I may or may not be,and by this point I only have four. 1)Has anybody had a child who did not complete or start puberty,in spite of normal hormone levels ? Would this be due to a combination of both hypermetabolism and malabsorption from bowel disease as I suspect ? 2)I can date the onset of my autism to a specific infection I had as an infant. All of my life acute infection has led to serious regression, even as an adult.Flareups of medical problems will always make my autism worse. Is this unique to mitochondrial autism,or are there other types that include this ? 3)I have no abdominal muscles, vestigal chest muscles, and preadolescent muscles in my arms.I now know that this is too severe for mitochondrial myopathy.I do not have prune belly syndrome.,what other conditions might cause this? 4)Does anybody know anything specifically about a theory I see popping up about medical problems in autism, apart from the autism itself, being a mix of autoinflammatory, mitochondrial, and nonmitochondrial metabolic ? Does anybody have more details ? Thank you, Kulp
