I know autistic children who were getting better, regress after a TB test. It is injecting TB including phenol into your child See my webpages http://www.wellwithin1.com/TBTest.htm and main page http://www.wellwithin1.com/vaccine.htm He already had a seizure? Guest guest
You have to follow your heart but keep in mind it is not normal for children to have seizures. I know you know this, but even having vaccines one at a time is risky, especially with a previous history of seizures. What would you do if he had one? If his immune system isn't so good, vaccines can make it worse. Also, he might not respond to a vaccine the way he would need to for it to work. Good for you to decline the MMR. I'm curious why not, though. There are other names for a tuberculin skin test. PPD stands for " purified protein derivative " which is injected under the skin. It won't hurt you. Guest guest
Start with my webpages http://www.wellwithin1.com/TBtest.htm there is a blood test you can get at health departments that you can use instead of the injectable type of TB test Info at above webpage Sheri listowner At 10:36 AM 5/30/2009, you wrote: >Please tell me what you know about the dangers of the TB test. Guest guest
Many states do now. There is an alternate blood test available through some health departments - get that. See info on my webpage http://www.wellwithin1.com/TBtest.htm Sheri listowner At 05:17 PM 8/8/2009, you wrote: >It's not. I substitute teach and I was never required to get one, >and I wouldn't have. Guest guest
There is a blood test called quantiferon TB-Gold or something like that. They don't inject anything in you. They take your blood. I just had my four year old daughter do it. Our health centers didn't offer it so I looked up quantiferon TB-Gold and found a lab that did it. My insurance covered it as long as I had a doctor's prescription for it. If your insurance does not cover it, the lab was going to charge a little over $100 for it. I think different labs charges different rates so ask ahead.

Guest guest
Hi, My 17 yo PDD/NOS son has an opportunity to volunteer at a hospice. He is excited about this, however they require for him to get a TB test first. Are TB tests safe? He had a TB shot in May 2001. Thanks, Max. Guest guest
I would not say they are safe. They are injecting TB antigen under the skin. This has risk for some people. This test also has a very false positive rate, and if you come back falsely positive they will want to put you on serious medications for no reason. Dr. Mendolsohns book " How to Raise a healthy child in spite of your doctor " says to avoid TB testing. How required it is? Religious waivers should apply here. If they don't, volunteer some where else that does not require you to subject your body to injectable toxins. http://www.whale.to/vaccine/bcg1.html > > Hi, > My 17 yo PDD/NOS son has an opportunity to volunteer at a hospice. Guest guest
Exactly. My son can volunteer somewhere else. I was just checking if there is such a thing as a safe TB test, and it sounds like there isn't. Thanks so much for your responses. -Max. Guest guest
I used to run a nursing home. They want you to take the skin test because its easy to administer and read and its cheaper. Sometimes they can't be read clearly anyway in which you will need a chest xray. Depending on how much you want to volunteer and if you are okay with a chest xray-that would be a way around it. Also if your skin test was positive- which it can be positive for exposure to things other than TB- you would need confirmation from a chest xray anyway to confirm you did not have active TB. So, you could jump to the xray if you want. shannon > > > > > > Hi, > > > My 17 yo PDD/NOS son has an opportunity to volunteer at a hospice. Guest guest
An alternative is a chest x-ray, but there's the radiation from that, so not without risk.
