Rhonda - you are not alone on this board - we all of us (or at least many of us)

have wasted valuable time and money with DANs and other docs and therapies doing

things that help for a while and then don't. Autism is really just heavy metal

poisoning. Do you have Andy's book Amalgam Illness? If you don't buy it and

read it. The time and money you have wasted is water under the bridge. You are

in the right place now. You need to chelate asap, your kids are older, but the

heavy metal poisoning can still be reversed in them. If you don't get the

metals out the problems are never going away for good. You can do it yourself

the AC way, without a doc and with the help of the people here, if your funds

are at a low ebb. You do not need a doctor to recover your kids.

Chelation is the only way you are going to get at the root cause of your

children's problems. All other supplements and interventions, whether it be

B12, HBOT, whatever supp of the moment people think is bringing their child back

and giving them language or whatever other skills -well these are bandaids on a

mortal wound, so to speak. Our son just completed round 61 of AC chelation, and

chelation is the only intervention if you will that we have done, that is

yielding lasting and startling improvements.

You ask if anyone has had " ultimate success " with AC chelation. I don't know

what you mean, perhaps total recovery? There are those on this board active and

in times past who have had varying degrees of success. (If you need to do so,

there is a file with success stories you can read) However, remember none of us

has a crystal ball - gee, total recovery will come at such and such a time.

There are no guarantees, which many docs want to promise you as they take your

money. Recovery from Hg poisoning is a long process, there are those whose kids

have lost their dx, but are still have metal issues they are cleaning up, there

are those who have lost their dx and have no metal issues any more. There are

those like my son, who have issues and a dx yet, but who are making gains by

leaps and bounds each round- speaking, connecting with his world, noticing and

interacting with others. Andy's is the only safe and rational chelation protocol

out there based on hard science, which he has used on himself.

Our son is still on the spectrum, but in a year and a half has made startling

and lasting improvements - in speech, socialization you name it, his bowels and

gut issues are resolving as well, by almost 60% I would say. He is coming back

to us out of his fog. DMSA initially helped to reduce his body burden, but ALA

is nothing short of miraculous. After a particular round, he will regain this

skill or that skill. For example, this round, out of the blue my 4 year old

starting rhyming and playing word games with us. You never know what skill a

round will bring. I too am a toxic adult using Andy's protocol and can tell you

that it is safe, and rational and that it works. I have only done 25 rounds,

but can tell you that I already feel better and that some health issues are

starting to resolve for me. ALA literally can make me feel clear headed and

remember things that I have forgotten for years. It is a slow tedious process,

but it works.

Chelation is not all clean sailing, there will be ups and downs. However, when

I get depressed if we have a " down " week due to yeast or virus or whatever,

where the gains are not as apparent, I look at the picture of my son after the

shot that tipped his toxic load, where he looks so vacant and lost, then at a

picture from a year ago, when we just started where he is starting to be there,

but still looks lost a bit, and then at this year's school picture where he is

grinning and so " present " - and think of the times where people say lately, gee

he seems speech delayed, but are you sure he is on the spectrum? And I realize

how far we have come. I put these 3 pictures in a frame together, and it gives

me hope and inspiration to continue on. Every day I thank the friend who sent me

here, and I thank Andy for sharing his protocol with us, when he didn't have to.

You must support the body with the necessary supps during chelation, however if

you do so, and use the dosing schedule and dosing Andy recommends based on body

weight, it is infinitely tolerable. My advice to you is, buy AI if you haven't

already, get your kids a hair test, and post the results here. Get the basic

supps on board if they aren't already, buy yourself some DMSA and ALA, and get

going. Time is of the essence. As I said, you like all of us have wasted

valuable time and money, but that is water under the bridge, console yourself

with the fact that you are now in the right place. Do not delay.

Thanks for the inspirational words. We are at a down time now and the reality

check is what I needed. We have chelated for 36 rounds and have seen amazing

results. My son is in 2nd grade, no aid but still has an IEP, and is extremely

social. He still has problems with abstract thinking and expressing himself.

On another note. My son got his hair cut last Thursday. I have the hair in the

Doctor's Data bag but have not sent it. Does anyone know if the results change

if the hair is not sent right away? No since spending the money if the results

are not accurate. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

My son was considered high functioning Autism. But he had many issues. A high

functioning diagnosis is all relative. You could see many different doctors and

they could all give different degrees of diagnosis.

he seems speech delayed, but are you sure he is on the spectrum?

My main concern is the cognitive/speech it seems there are very few success

stories of children with very compromised cognition development

Re: [ ] Re: TRULY TRULY..have any of your kids had their

autism REVERSED thru chelation?

Thanks for the inspirational words. We are at a down time now and the reality

check is what I needed. We have chelated for 36 rounds and have seen amazing

results. My son is in 2nd grade, no aid but still has an IEP, and is extremely

social. He still has problems with abstract thinking and expressing himself.

On another note. My son got his hair cut last Thursday. I have the hair in the

Doctor's Data bag but have not sent it. Does anyone know if the results change

if the hair is not sent right away? No since spending the money if the results

are not accurate. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Rhonda - you are not alone on this board - we all of us (or at least many of us)

have wasted valuable time and money with DANs and other docs and therapies doing

things that help for a while and then don't. Autism is really just heavy metal

poisoning. Do you have Andy's book Amalgam Illness? If you don't buy it and read

it. The time and money you have wasted is water under the bridge. You are in the

right place now. You need to chelate asap, your kids are older, but the heavy

metal poisoning can still be reversed in them. If you don't get the metals out

the problems are never going away for good. You can do it yourself the AC way,

without a doc and with the help of the people here, if your funds are at a low

ebb. You do not need a doctor to recover your kids.

Chelation is the only way you are going to get at the root cause of your

children's problems. All other supplements and interventions, whether it be B12,

HBOT, whatever supp of the moment people think is bringing their child back and

giving them language or whatever other skills -well these are bandaids on a

mortal wound, so to speak.

Andy's is the only safe and rational chelation protocol

out there based on hard

science, which he has used on himself.

I have only done 25 rounds, but

can tell you that I already feel better and that some health issues are starting

to resolve for me. ALA literally can make me feel clear headed and remember

things that I have forgotten for years. It is a slow tedious process, but it

works.

Chelation is not all clean sailing, there will be ups and downs. However, when I

get depressed if we have a " down " week due to yeast or virus or whatever, where

the gains are not as apparent, I look at the picture of my son after the shot

that tipped his toxic load, where he looks so vacant and lost, then at a picture

from a year ago, when we just started where he is starting to be there, but

still looks lost a bit, and then at this year's school picture where he is

grinning and so " present " - and think of the times where people say lately, gee

he seems speech delayed, but are you sure he is on the spectrum? And I realize

how far we have come. I put these 3 pictures in a frame together, and it gives

2. We are so tired of bending over and taking it!

I have four spectrum kids, one severe, one moderate, two mild. I used ALA on a

protocol different than what is recommended on this forum. My kids required

more than just chelation, they also required anti-virals, B12, and several other

things. But they are all recovered now.

When I started biomedical, my #2 was " classic Kanner's autism " , severe, low

functioning. The pedneuro told me he would never talk or even acknowledge my

existence. Today, he talks and reads, plays with other kids, etc. He is a

typical child, altho he is still developmentally delayed because he was so

severely injured by vaccinations. He is 13 but is doing first grade work.

I know it is hard when you are working with a DAN doctor and not seeing

progress. I have tried on many occasions to have the ARI give me information on

when the DAN protocol was last revised, even emailing several people about it.

The problem with DAN is that even though we have new research, new information

and have introduced many new toxins in our environment, the DAN protocol has not

changed very much and doesn't allow many new methods in because it will muddle

their numbers for research. I can respect that for them, but for me,

personally, I don't just want to defeat autism, I want to kick it around and

beat the crap out of it until it screams for mercy. That being said...

We are not to reversal *yet* but 's initial dx was that she was mentally

retarded and would never really be talking or taking care of herself and we

needed to look at institutions.

For us, mercury alone was a huge part in the issues she faced -- removing the

mercury had a huge impact on her communication (both expressive and receptive

language), hypotonia (now non-existant) and all motor coordination and yeast.

You can't treat a lot of the other intestinal, viral, bacterial and fungal

issues without addressing metal toxicity, so if you are holding out, don't.

If you are concerned with the chemical-based chelation, there are natural

chelators you can use and natural supplementation, although sometimes the

natural remedies take more time and research.

There are new things I learn every day -- like recently, I found out anointing

the head with incense can increase oxygen to the brain. It is one of the

oils that releases sesquiterpenes that stimulate the limbic system of the brain

and other glands within the brain, promoting memory and releasing emotions.

Chelation helped my older son with his cognitive deficits. My younger son

responded to DMSA for more spontaneous speech. My younger son has articulation

and expressive speech problems and the older has more receptive problems. The

younger is much more severe and I have definitely felt the way you do. I tried

all kinds of speech supplement protocols and finally found one that worked well

for him, I choose to keep on chelating as well because I believe it will help.

In my opinion, you essentially need: Magnesium, Vit B6, Vit E, and Cod liver oil

for speech. You can also try: folic/folinic acid, vinpocetine, or carnosine.

It was a combination of high dose Vit A, Vit D and vinpocetine that worked for

my boy, though he still has quite a ways to go. Don't give up, just keep trying

things till something works - and chelate!

THANK YOU...ALL who have responded! I am going to purchase a copy of AC's book

On the road to recovery I think it can be hard to know if real improvement

is taking place. I sometimes wonder if what I see as improvement is just me

becoming more attuned to my child and improving my ability to predict and

avoid certain behaviors. In other words, accepting the behaviors that make

my child " autistic " and learning how to cope with them. Because I want my

child to recover, I have to be careful that the " improvements " that I hope

and believe I see for are genuine. It's challenging enough for an objective

observer to identify what makes a child autistic; it's doubly hard for a

parent. For me the acid test is, do I want to remember this period in my

child's life with pictures and videos? As our daughter improves, and our

story is like many others--the AC chelation seems to be key--I find myself

taking our daughter more places and taking pictures to record happy

memories, which are becoming more frequent.

Yes, I have to agree. My first Dx was simply Autism. No one has ever said one

thing or another. That is until we saw the Neurologist and he said flat out

" your son is Severely Autistic " no one had ever said that ever. I have an idea

in my head about what Severely Autistic looks like and it is not my son. Then

again I am not a Neurologist. I think is it kinda all realtive. My son speaks

very little. He his wonderfully quardinated. He is totally potty trained since

a week before he turned 4 and never ever has accidents. That being said he

can't tell you his name or even say his name. He has no problem walking into

the middle of a street with a moving car right there. I guess it would depend

on your personal opinion. We have dropped 25 points on the ATEC score in the

last 2 years. I figure we keep it up some day he might just loose his Dx and

someone will say " Well he was not really Autistic he just had too many insults

with all the surgery " and so that is why he got better.

Yes, not only do I have reports of this but also have seen it in person, before

and after, a few times.

If you chelate properly some children do get completely better.

If you chelate improperly there is little hope.

That's why I'm charitable enough with my time to continue to belabor this issue

infinitely on lists like this - your child deserves to get well, and their only

real hope of that is by getting chelated properly instead of some random way

even if a physician prescribed it.

I have no idea where this particular discussion started (and I've looked, but

can't figure it out). Just thought I would toss in my two cents worth:

Dana is extremely well respected on this list and has a huge website. My

understanding is she didn't use the AC method.

I personally used cilantro for 16 months, which is very, very hard to mention on

this list because the common wisdom is that cilantro is a very bad thing. In

fact, there is no known protocol that I can find and the fact that it worked for

me is almost a " fluke " in that I didn't even know it was a chelator when I began

consuming it and my reasons for joining this list were unrelated to my own

serious health issues but joining is how I learned it was a chelator. People on

this list do tend to misinterpret my remarks regarding cilantro (for example,

telling me " don't use this on your kids! " when I never said I was going to do

anything of the sort) but I believe most do so with the best of intentions, out

of concern for my welfare and/or the welfare of others. Still, no one is trying

to run me off the list.

People on this list will generally feel an obligation of concern to ask some

probing questions and put out some cautions if you start talking about a

different protocol than the ones typically used here. But I haven't found it to

be a show-stopper -- and I have a long history of being very controversial

everywhere I go and have been downright vilified in some places for my

unconventional approach to ..seemingly everything.

Peace.

Michele, who is running on 5 hours sleep and may just be making a huge

mistake.....there's a reason we have the saying " the road to hell is paved with

good intentions "

Yes, I do wonder what's up with the hostility...but as you said...we are all

just so concerned with the welfare of these precious babies. And, the

traditional doctors would argue the same point about following the vaccine

schedule. I just know what's true for me and my family, and this is it.

I have no choice but to share it with others. I do promote a certain chelation

protocol, but its only because I have seen it work miracles in my own family and

others. Will it work in all? No. But that doesn't erase the reality that IV

and suppository chelation worked in ours.

My heart won't allow me to be silent. Like you, I may regret opening my big

mouth.

I'm a person of very few regrets, big mouth and all. I find that having

compassion for others, even when they seem hostile, and being genuinely

respectful eventually promotes an atmosphere of mutual respect and more

tolerance for genuinely agreeing to disagree.

I need to crawl off to bed.

Have a very good night.

" People on this list will generally feel an obligation of concern to ask some

probing questions and put out some cautions if you start talking about a

different protocol than the ones typically used here. "

And rightly so, my child was harmed by a challenge test using infrequent DMSA

suppositories. Not only him, but a lot of adults on the frequent dose chelation

board have also complained of side effects with improper chelators/ protocols.

I am thankful for the people here, who are so adamant at putting forth good

information based on science and logic.

" But I haven't found it to be a show-stopper "

No, I have actually not been annoyed by this group at all. I have been annoyed

with other groups where people spout all kinds of information like a fountain,

with nothing to back it up, and they have a bunch of people listening because of

the way they say it - with confidence, as if it were undisputed truth. Many

times what they say is debatable, it gets on my nerves.

" I have a long history of being very controversial

everywhere I go and have been downright vilified in some places for my

unconventional approach to ..seemingly everything. "

LOL, me too. Maybe that's why I really value your posts, . I think you

have given me a lot of really good information...or your information inspired me

to research a topic that brought about something I needed to know.

===>This is really not the question " Will it work in all? " The question is

" What are the risks? " And they are HIGH with this protocol, real parents with

real kids have lost the ability to speak. Not just one or two but enough that it

would make me want to never, ever do this with any kid.

Please don't mistake my gratitude for this child not tanking as approval for

this kind of protocol. They are two different things.

My heart won't allow me to be silent. Like you, I may regret opening my big

Thank you Rhonda for sharing your story. We have arguing about whether or not

there is one way to recover a child on the valtrexB12 list. I think that giving

a disclaimer with your story is the perfect way to let people know of your

success while warning that it is not a sure formula and there are risks.

done EVERYTHING else...$600/ hr. DAN doctors, $22k hyperbaric o2 chamber, $12k

ova med (worm) therapy, SCD diet for 5 years, nicotine therapy (what a joke),

$7k/month ABA therapy, vitamins/supplement s, etc., etc........

I think if any of us had gotten any of that from our medical professionals, none

of us would be here.

My ND has on her website:

Warning - Nothing on this website is FDA approved. Proceed at your own risk and

for your good health. If you have a `medical' problem consult your `medical'

doctor. However, if you suspect that your problem is nutritional, stress or

lifestyle-based, consider natural therapies, herbs and dietary supplements.

(They won't kill you.)

Makes me laugh every time I see it. ;)

WAY BEYOND telling someone their child may or may not be recovered. You really

should be mentioning the potential side effects and the risks involved,

including the risk of death. I'm really glad I'm not in your shoes on this one.

Congratulations for recovering your child.

> Afterall, she *is* just the mom, not the MD (right?). Dana doesn't do what we

do here and she isn't given anything but admiration and kudos (sorry to pick on

you, my dear).

Well, not everyone here gives me " admiration and kudos " . People have attacked

me before, because I recovered four kids and I have also chelated myself, on a

protocol that is not the same as the protocol recommended here.

But, I don't mind if you " pick on me " . I know what worked at my house. And I

don't feel compelled to respond to every message that attacks what worked here,

because all that does is perpetuate the negativity.

I'm chelating myself and two boys. We started off with IV (unwise jump into the

deep end!) and it was not a good thing - though it wasn't apparent immediately.

My doc used glutathione+C+EDTA and the second and third time around glut+C+DMPS.

A DAN! doc did glut+C+NAC+DMPS followed by a Diflucan IV for one of my sons.

The reactions were:

me:

Initially thought nothing of it. It seemed my fears were unfounded. But after

3 IVs I started to have a lot of anxiety. My veins were bulging out. I started

to have problems tolerating carotene-containing foods and supplements, as well

as phenols. My adrenals were a mess.

son #1:

Had body aches probably caused by the vitamin C, and developed very obvious

facial tinea (fungus). Lost weight and became very agitated.

son #2:

Developed many food sensitivities, probably due to redistribution of metals to

key organs. Yeast was a huge issue even with r/x meds. He dumped high amount

of metals on his UTM which would not have all made it out when the chelators

wore off.

A DAN! doc had us on DMPS suppositories for two months after that, on weekends

two days in a row. I didn't see obvious changes. Then I read Amalgam Illness

and so many of the reactions and mercury symptoms Cutler described were our

reality. The half-life principle and redistribution explained a lot of side

effects we were seeing. We switched to Cutler protocol in October 2008.

Things have definitely been improving since then, for example:

son #1:

+socially much more aware, happier

+does homework independently now and without any drama

+started competitive sports (was terrified of being in front of people before)

We are finding that chronic infections/biofilm is an issue for him, and are

working on this layer now along with chelation.

son #2:

+wasn't very expressive before but now very talkative

+pays more attention to people

+lost his sensory problems and learned to ride a bike, ski, swim

+no longer overreacts to gluten; we just use enzymes and even if we miss that

it's fine

+eats all kinds of foods (used to be a pasta and formula milk addict) but we are

dairy-free

+bowel movements are regular now (used to be every 5 days)

+no need for r/x yeast meds anymore but yeast is still there as he was very

toxic

For him, parasite protocol along with chelation is the focus now.

I can't handle chelation every weekend so we are a bit slow, doing a 2.5-3 day

round every 2-3 weeks with DMSA/ALA or ALA only. We needed to start very low

with ALA (5mg/dose) because I think we had a lot of metals built up in the

brain/organs after the DMPS IVs. Initial rounds required lots of adrenal

support. Now we're up to 15mg ALA/dose. I am committed to continuing the

process because it really works. But you need to be committed and really

observant along the way.

This group has been so helpful. Thanks everyone!

PJ
