My several of my daughters have developed a condition call Costco Condritis. I

was told when I was diagnosed quite some time ago that it was a rare

inflammation condition...now my girls are showing up with it...has anyone heard

of this or any ideas why it is showing up in them??

Costochrondritis? That is an inflammation of the cartilage that connects the

ribs to the breastbone. Can be quite painful but isn't rare (unless it is rare

in children).

Unsure of the cause, but I would guess injury or infection are possibilities.

My guess is that your children have some chronic inflammatory process going on

but that is just a guess from 'just a mom'!

Is this what you mean?

It's actually called " costochondritis " and is unrelated to the evil

megastore chain.

It's a frequent symptom in the fibromyalgia complex of syndromes. It's

not that rare.

Since it's not genetic, it would make sense that the same

environmental/toxicologic parameters that affected you to produce the

inflammation response also are affecting your daughters.

Thanks for the input....was told it was rare...but trusting a dr is not a wise

thing...my bad. Yes we do all have fibro....so I guess it makes sense.....

thanks

Hi Ronni,

I have immune issues and get flares of both costochondritis and pericarditis,

so I truly empathize with your daughters! For me, it came on about after a

severe allergic reaction to penicillin after mouth surgery (not entirely sure if

I caught something during the surgery, or if the reaction set off my immune

system somehow). And of course environmental toxins/metals also definitely play

a huge role. I do think there is some kind of genetic link, too, since my

brother has had similar issues/symptoms (it wasn't officially diagnosed,

though), and so did my mom, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother years and

years ago.

I'd suggest trying homeopathy. Since I was having more severe flares than

most people, prednisone was the only thing that would control the flares (and

prednisone is definitely not the best thing to have to take). Then I started

seeing a homeopathic dr who would give me a constitutional remedy (in my case,

it was sulphur), and my flares reduced in both frequency and intensity. I still

do get occasional flares, especially during overly-stressful times, but the

homeopathy has definitely helped. I also recently started taking Enhansa...I

had been giving it to my son, and I figured it might help with my own

inflammation issues.

Best of luck to your daughters,

  • 2 months later...

I heard this last night on the news. They can spend another 50 billion trying to

disprove this but the parents who saw what happened to their kids will never buy

it.

What really angers me about these reports is the attitude that this MMR report

is the ONLY study out there that influenced our decision to reconsider

infant/childhood vaccinations. Wake up.
