Guest guest
ah...this one I know cause I have been selling one very successfully for a few years now and call it baby bottom cream It is simply olive oil infused with calendula(antibacterial antifungal as well as softening) and use beeswax to make a soft creamy salve. you can also add a few drops of tea tree and or lavender as both are so beneficial in healing and totally safe in such a small qty. for baby or mommy's belly and actually makes a wonderful cream for skin rashes of any variety. My MIL uses it now onherskin problems(scoriasis) HTH Deb
Guest guest
hi maureen, my daughter had such trouble with diaper rash. this is what finally worked for us----using a wet washcloth to clean her rather then wipes ( except for poo of course). we alternated using balmax and baby powder with corn starch for every diaper change. i hope that this helps, so poor patrick won;t be in such pain. Guest guest
I use desitin occasionally too, you can also try bathing him in warm water and letting him air dry several times a day, air will help his bottom heal better than anything .Just put a clothe diaper under him and let him air out on the floor for awhile. You have gotten lots of suggestions ,,, goodluck nettie619 ,, oh and its good to have a dr check him if its constant , I know you did,, but if it continues you might want to try these things and if it still persists take him in for another opinion.. sometimes it can be a new food, allergy or even yeast infection in babies. Guest guest
I use good old Penaten. It works wonders, coats the bottom to keep it from being stung anymore from waste and usually the redness has abated significantly the next day. I also use it for Tim's boils that he develops frequently. When one starts flaring up, I put some Penaten on a bandaid, put the bandaid on the area, and within a day or so it's nearly gone. Val Re: diaper rash Hi Maureen- I am sorry to hear about s little bottom. Here are some suggestions that we do. A warm bath with baking soda might help. When my sons bottom gets red I put Pinxav (pronounced Pink Salve) on it. This sticks a little better than the Desitin (at least I think). The other thing I do is make my own baby wipes. I think this has really helped with diaper rash. If you would like the recipe for baby wipes email me and I will give it to you. Hope some of this advice helps!! Guest guest
Have you ever tried Bag Balm? It's originally for cow udders, but now you can get it at most grocery stores or drug stores. It also has an antiseptic in it.

My son Liam has gotten bad rashes after taking antibiotics and we've had to resort to prescription anti-fungal creams. Also, a friend recommended using plain Dial soap in his bath water and that seemed to help. By the way, he also gets a rash type reaction to certain drinks. Cranberry juice and lemonade (no matter how much I water them down) irritate him a lot. One of my nieces has such delicate skin, her mom had to use Balmex all the time to prevent the rash from starting. If you figure out what works for , you might have to use it all the time for a while. Kathy, Liam's mom(4)
Guest guest
Maureen, Try looking for " Triple Paste " It's diaper rash cream and it's the only thing that has worked when my kids have rashes that won't respond to Desiten, A & D, Balmex etc.... It always works - never fails! Can sometimes be hard to find though... try SavOn (if you have those near you), or local pharmacies (it is OTC), Longs. Sometimes, pharmacies can order it for you. But I highly recommend it. Sandy mom to Gabby (5, ds-asd) and Adam (2) diaper rash > Hi All > > My son has just had his LAST operation to eliminate > Hirshsprungs disease. Guest guest
Besides what other suggested (using homemade wipes, desitan, etc.) I would also suggest feeding him yogart with live cultures. I know of a drug store in WV that sells this stuff called spermicidin cream...made from a sperm whale. The local pediatricians sent their patients (parents) there to get it. I can give you the name and number if you are interested. ps avoid anything with alcohol in it. diaper rash Hi All My son has just had his LAST operation to eliminate Hirshsprungs disease. Guest guest
Congratulations on that LAST operation. I know what a relief it is to get that operation over with, and on to a more " normal " life. My son, who is now 11, had his last operation to have a illeostomy reversed (also Hirschsprungs) when he was 2 1/2. What I remember is that the stools following the operation seem to be more acidic than typical baby poop, and create a horrible diaper rash, the likes of which I had never seen before, or since. Ordinary methods just did not work. Even the prescription remedies failed. One of our doctors finally did recommend an ointment that did the trick. It is called CRITIC-AID by Sween . I have corporation info on the tube if more info is needed. We had to order it from our pharmacist, who was familiar with it, and in fact started keeping it in stock for us. I still keep a tube around. It's a great protective ointment. a Mom of 3, including Nicky, 11 years old, DS, Hirschsprungs Disease Grandma of Zoe, 4 years, and Christian, 2 years work: http://www.cumberlink.com diaper rash > Hi All > > My son has just had his LAST operation to eliminate > Hirshsprungs disease. Guest guest
My new grand daughter has had diaper rash for over 2 weeks, and its not getting better. Her doctor has prescribed an anti-fungal salve, now a steroid cream. But they haven't helped yet. My daughter doesn't believe in taking supplements such as probiotics, which I think likely may be a factor in the digestive problems my grand daughter is having. What should be done. What would help? Guest guest
We only used one regular diaper. We tried pull-ups because in theory they made sense, but they just didn't work - for us. we tucked the diaper under the cast and only had a couple (2) problems with leakage....these would be when my husband had the genius idea of just putting the diaper over the cast!!! We sware by Buddreux's Butt Paste- it's got a funny name but it's a great diaper rash cream.
Guest guest
At Babies R Us they have BabyGanics cream infused wipes... they are AMAZING for diaper rash. I used them on my 2y/o recently bc regular wipes were stinging. I only used the BabyGanics wipes and his diaper rash cleared up without any cream/ointment. And yes, if it is yeast, ask for some nystatin... good luck! Guest guest
The reason that I have been using 2 diapers (Luvs diapers) is because they told me at Shriners that it is better protection for the cast. But, I am beginning to try pull-ups today. I already had a pack here. And I just changed Abby about 10 minutes ago. I washed her bottom with Aquaphor cleanser and patted her dry. Then I applied Balmex diaper ointment (it seems to work the best on her) and put a pullup on her. I tucked it in the best I could up underneath the diaper. I am going to change her every 1 1/2 hours today and tonight and hopefully that will make this horrible redness go away. Thanks for your suggestions. I will let you all know how she does. Guest guest
Can you try giving her some "bare" time? I've never had a problem with Grace wetting, but that's because of her bladder issue. But letting the area air dry for a while might help. Oh, have you thought that maybe she's aquired an allergy to something in Luvs? I personally have only used Huggies because they're the only ones that didn't make my kids break out. Guest guest
Jane, yes I am going to give her a break from the diaper the next time I change her. I have done this before and it does help. As for her being allergic to Luvs, she has used them since birth and never once had a problem until she was casted. So, I think it was more of an issue of having one extra diaper on that held in heat. - , mom of Abby (16 months) 48* down to 17* in first cast > > > > Hi , > > > > As said, try pull-ups. We found them to be the most effective and > > easiest to get on.  Also they were less bulky. Are you using a cleanser > >such as > > > > Cetaphil on her private parts or regular wipes? I'd try using Cetaphil for > > say every other diaper change and see if things improve. You may want to > > consider that the rashes may be yeast in nature so your ped may need to > > prescribe a yeast infection med. Are you using cloth or disposables? My > >nieces > > > > were always allergic to their own bacteria and so couldn't use cloth diapers. > > > > Just throwing some ideas out there! I know we suffered through more diaper > >rash > > > > stuff when we were in our 4th cast. I alway assumed it was because she > >couldn't > > > > soak in the tub. > > > > Oh, and btw, my favorite diaper ointment is Bordeaux's Butt Paste! If you > > haven't tried that one, I would give it a shot. > >  > > Jane > > > > > > > > > > ________________________________ > > From: juliechafin2005 <juliechafin2005@> > > infantile scoliosis treatment > > Sent: Tue, November 30, 2010 8:42:16 AM > > Subject: Diaper Rash > > > >  > > Just wondering if anyone else is having problems with diaper rash? Guest guest
It very well could be a heat rash. I have never heard of or think its necessary to use two diapers, plus that gets expensive! We use Luvs as well but we do not yuck into the cast. That seems wrong to me. If you tuck in the cast naturally its going to go up the cast. I would use your diaper rash ointment, one diaper and after you appy the tabs in the front tuck the diaper in on itself so it provides a lip so to speak. You can do this in the back too. Once we started doing this we have never had a pee leak, no use of poise pads or kushies. Works like a charm for us! And once in awhile a little butt paste! juliechafin2005 <juliechafin2005@...> wrote: >Just wondering if anyone else is having problems with diaper rash?
