Guest guest
Hi sue, I think there are several different forms of diaper rash, but alot of times you can change the PH of the diaper area and that will clear it up. Mix a very dilute concentration of vineger and water and pat it on the diaper area. If it is really raw, then test an area before you put it all over. Also, when I say very dilute I mean you should hardly be able to smell the vinegar. Let me know how this works for him if you use it. It always worked for us. Diaper rash From: Sue D Fragiacomo <fragiacomo@...> Hi all does anyone have a good recipe of something for diaper rash?? My little nephew gets it constantly and I feel so badly for him........I told my sis I would ask for help and make the recipe or what ever I was sent for him to use!! thanks and hope you all had a merry christmas sue Sue Fragiacomo Indep. Guest guest
a mixture containing chamomile or calendula or both is sposed to be very good for diaper rash if you made a tea from the two and let it cool, put a clean cloth on it and then put it on the baby that might work, its sposed to work for rashes on the neck anyway hmm, i'll have to try that myself
Guest guest
My daughter, who is now 22, NEVER had diaper rash (well, except for maybe a trace for a few hours). I never used baby wipes because they irritated my skin, I used tissue and water to wipe her, often put warm water in a spray bottle and rinsed her area then patted dry. I only used corn starch. Her doctor wanted to know what I did and when I told him said the corn starch was not good because it could ball up. Hmmm.... I just made sure it was well sifted and continued to use it. Hope this helps. Suzanne Kirkpatrick wrote: > From: " Suzanne Kirkpatrick " <skirkpat@...> > > Does anyone have any recipes for a cream or recipe for wipes that will help > my baby's diaper rash? Guest guest
hi, i'm new to the group, thought i'd quit lurking and finally introduce myself! i'm jennifer, in dallas, texas. I'm a full time mom to two boys. I'm very much an alternative type AP kind of momma. We do family bed, baby led breastfeeding, cloth diapers, etc. I don't believe in using cribs, high chairs, strollers, play pens, etc. Somehow I missed the beat when it came to vaccinations. I thought by law i HAD to. My 6 year old had all his vaccinations until he was 4, my 18 month old had all his vaccinations until he was 9 months. Call me a BIG BLIND DUMBY but i never questioned the vaccine issue until I took my 9 month old son to get what would be his last round of vaccinations, only to have a HORRIBLE experience. First... when I asked to see the expiration date on the vaccine, which I always did. I check exp dates on EVERYTHING. lol Anyway, the nurse would not allow me to, saying it was against some sort of law or something to have anyone but " trained professionals " to handle the vaccines. I was upset, and asked to speak with the doctor. The doctor came in and instead of showing me the exp. date on the vaccines, he took them completely away and brought ina new tray and then showed me. That was really weird... THEN what happened next was worse... when the nurse began to inject the vaccine into my baby sons leg, and when she pulled back - you know how there's usually clear fluid that fills up the syringe? - this time there was BLOOD! I've worked with my mother at her vet clinic many many times and i know that when this happens that means you've hit a blood vessel, and if you inject the vaccine into the blood vessel you can send the animal into shock or it can even die. i wasn't sure if this was that case or not for humans - or 9 month old babies - but i freaked out and asked the nurse to stop. I screamed at her to take it out, i had to scream over my son's screaming... she didn't. She pretended she didn't hear me, and went ahead and injected the vaccine. Fortunately, neither of my children have been hurt (as far as I can tell so far..) from having vaccines. After that ordeal, my 9 month old son just slept it off as I held him and cried. And in a way, it's good those awful things happened because now my mind is more open and i'm learning more about the risks, the why's, the what if's, and really contemplating the issue. I feel really guilty, I wish I would have asked all these questions before the bad things could happen, but it's too late now! What i'm currently trying to figure out, is how to legally go about not vaccinating my children when they start going to a private or public school? We currently homeschool, so it's not an issue right now. But we were planning on homeschooling only through the fourth grade. It's not that I plan on NEVER vaccinating my children, if I feel the need should arise I might choose to vaccinate (selective vaccination) but I do not agree with pumping my children's bodies full of vaccinations that I feel do more harm than good, and are mostly unnecessary. I'm also seeking a new doctor for my family. For obvious reasons we no longer go to our old doctor! I'm looking for someone open to a more natural approach to family medicine... would this be a homeopath? A naturopath? A holistic doctor? Our old doctor wanted to prescribe an antibiotic for everything, and I would never even get the prescription filled. My children have always been very healthy. In 6 years we've only had one ear infection and one case of impetigo (both my oldest son) both of which i treated through alternative methods (impetigo with tea tree oil and the ear infection with ear drops and supplementing with Echinacea and goldenseal for a few days). OH and one case of pink eye (also my oldest son) which i also treated myself with liquid chlorophyll... Anyway... I guess my doctor and i weren't really a good match. I'm looking for a good match this time! Odd, isn't it, that my oldest son, who i guess is " current " on his vaccinations, would be the one who has the ear infection, impetigo, pink eye, and my youngest son who i stopped vaccinating at 9 months old, has never been sick. hmmm. So that's me. Sorry didn't know this was going to be such a LONG email! In response to the diaper rash post: we've always used cloth diapers and we've never had any problems with diaper rash. I wash my diapers with dr. bronner's soap and hang them on the clothes line to dry in the sun. All my friends who use disposable always have to goop their babies bums up with diaper rash cream and icky Vaseline (petroleum jelly - EEEWWW - think about it...) Cloth diapers have really come a long way. They are just as convenient as disposables now with all the different styles - fitted, flat, snaps, velcro, all in ones, etc... I personally use chinese prefolds and pins because they were the most cost effective. Guest guest
, Hello. I am Dina. I lived in the Dallas area fro 4 years. I had a 2 docs there that I loved. Both were very open to what I had to say. They both knew that I did not want the vaccinations and all the antibiotics for every little thing that came up. One doc was at Childrens in Dallas. He is still there, but he is in the ER. The other doc had an office in Irving, Since it has been over 2 years I think he is still in Irving, not sure. Both docs knew that I did not call a doc for every little thing. I let them know that they may know " medical stuff " better than me, but I knew my children better than them. Both AGREED!! If you want more info, let me know and I'll give you the names. Re: Diaper Rash hi, i'm new to the group, thought i'd quit lurking and finally introduce myself! i'm jennifer, in dallas, texas. Guest guest
Hi , try the Weleda Calendula Cream, it does have all natural ingredients and no irritants. Also it could be the diaper, are you using cloth diapers? If they are all cotton (organic is best) they usually cause much less of a rash (everyone I know who is using them, their kids don't get a rash). To get cloth diapers there are some good websites. If you need some referalls, let me know. They also carry the natural rash cream. Guest guest
yep. the thing about disposables, is that not only do they have all those chemicals in them, but also it's hard to know when your babu is wet because whenever they pee it's turned into gel or crystals and it's just really hard to tell. by the time the diaper does look like it's time to change it, they've already been sitting in a wet diaper for a few hours...with cloth you pretty much know right away! also, in day care, maybe they aren't changing the diaper often enough or cleaning her bottom thouroughly? maybe have a talk with the day care people? love & rockets... ..:jennifer:. dallas, texas Re: Diaper Rash In a message dated 6/26/01 11:54:25 AM Alaskan Daylight Time, jeminer@... writes: > response to the diaper rash post: we've always used cloth diapers and we've > Hi ! Guest guest
yep, i tried that! but it didn't work?!! maybe i didn't do enough of it or something, i dunno... Washing his eyes out with the liquid chlorophyll worked almost immediately. took the itching away and cleared it up within a day. gave him gross looking green eye boogers, but worked like a charm. This may be more info than you need to know, but the eye boogers were really sticky and hard to remove from his skin, so i had to dampen a soft washcloth with a little bit of olive oil and clean around his eyes that way. if i just tried warm water it seemed to irritate the skin and it was difficult to clean the eye goop away. yes, breastmilk is magical wonderful stuff!! i also used it to clean my babies umbilical cord/belly buttons when they were newborns. love & rockets! Guest guest
The doc at Childrens is Dr. Micheal Lee. I think he works in the ER, or a clinic associated with the ER, so he doesn't see private patients, but I would keep my eye on him for when/if he does go into private practice. I met Dr. Lee when I preg with our daughter and our son had pneumonia. We had taken our son to the ER about 3 times and we saw Dr. Lee every time. Our son is developmentally delayed as well as having other things going on that tend to make me a bit more " mainstream " with him. One of which is a shunt (tube) from the head to the abdomen to drain off excess fluid. Infections with the shunt can mimic all kinds of things and we were not seeing anything on the lungs during those trips. By our 3rd trip to the ER, it was time to do a shunt series. X-rays that show the shunt. The shunt was fine, and those x-rays finally showed pneumonia on the lungs. Due to complications while being sedated when my son was younger I was completely a basket case over son having to be sedated for the shunt series. Dr. Lee was SO WONDERFUL. He thought ahead " in case " and totally put me at ease. We decided then that we wanted him for out daughters ped. , who I was about 6 weeks preg with. Our daughter was seen in the Continuity Clinic at Childrens. She has not received one vax, and from what I understand there were others in that clinic that refused vaxes, and got their medical waivers signed there. I got a few looks from nurses who came at us with needle in hand and I told them, no. But other than no one said anything. The office in Irving was Centrepointe Medical Center 6750 MacArthur, Suite 100 Irving Tx. 75039 Their office is in a wing at a hosp on the first floor. The person I saw was Dennis Heald. He is a Certified Physician Asst. I didn't kow that til just now when I looked at his card. I explained how I felt about vaxes. He said he didn't quite agree, but I had done my research and made an informed opinion. I do not know if Dennis Heald still feels the same or not. But it may be worth looking into. If that doesn't help I have one other source you might try, In Downtown Dallas there is an OB-Gyn office that had a Certified Nurse Midwife. (It's where I went with my daughter). The name is Renaissance Women's Health Associates. 3310 Live Oak Suite 400 Dallas Tx. 75204. The midwifes name is Akins. We delivered our daughter at Baylor with . No routine stuff in her eyes, no Vit K, and no Hep B vax. Did rooming in and left 16 hours after delivering. She knew how we felt about all this, she may now have a few doctors names she knows are open to no vax. knew alot about alternative methods on medicine. She might be worth contacting. If any of that fails, let me know. I do have a a couple other things to try as a last ditch. Hope this helps, Dina Re: Diaper Rash hi Dina! thanks for the response, i'd love the names/info to check them out. Guest guest
, give her some probiotics daily. whole foods sells a good brand called Jarrow-dophilus for infants. a rash can often be indicative of a intestinal flora that are out of kilter, with lots of good ones being wiped out. we should all take probiotics at least once per week. kim
Guest guest
I don't know if zinc oxide is suppressive or not, hopefully someone else can answer that. They make zinc oxide paste, you have to get it from the pharmacist, but it's OTC. I used that religiuosly when my guys were babies. Put it on THICK and only wipe off the top yucky part with the diaper change, this protects the bottom. I also put a think layer of A & D underneath the zinc oxide. It usually only took a couple of days to clear it up. Again, I wouldn't think that there is anything in either to suppress the rash, but more to protect the bottom from further irritation. Guest guest
, The best thing I can think of is to keep the daiper off as much as possible. I hope the rash gets better real soon! Guest guest
> Hi all, > My wee one has an awful diaper rash... Poor baby. Has she been teething? My dd always gets a diaper rash with explosive poopies when she teethes. I just keep her as dry as possible...and when the tooth finally breaks through (and the drool stops) the rash goes away. Guest guest
Hi , My friend was just going thru that with her little boy. They would soak in the tub because that is the only thing that felt good. I gave her some of my Tender Tush - safe, non-toxic and natural. She e-mailed me the next morning and said her little boy couldn't than me enough. I'd say thats pretty good evidence that it worked. You can read more about Tender Tush on my website. Good luck with your little one.Sincerely,Nature's Amazing Healing Oilshttp://my.youngliving.com/EZorder Family <memechose@...> wrote: Hi all, My wee one has an awful diaper rash.... ---------- ---------------------------------
Guest guest
No Walgreens here. Is that a store brand? If not I could just call around and check to see if anyone has it. We had finally gotten the better of it with some Lotrimin and just letting her run around without pants (yes, I was chasing her with a pooper scooper in my hand for 3 days.) Then my husband and I went to a marriage retreat to celebrate our 10th anniversary. It was the first time away from the baby, even though we were just 30 miles away, it was hard on me (and really great at the same time). Unfortunately, my folks were not quite as attentive to her freshly healed bottom and the rash had started back up again when they delivered the kids to us the second night (we didn't know it was a 2 day 2 night thing, and since the kids had pretty much wore out my parents, we had them bring them to us the second night so they could get to bed earlier than if they had to wait for us to pack up and drive home.) found some A & D with zinc in it at Wal Mart and the rash was much better by morning, so I think we caught it in time so that it won't get bad again. What kind of babypowder? Cornstarch? How's the pregnancy going? God bless, Wenoka At 11:54 AM 03/16/2002 EST, you wrote: >Wenoka: > >Do you have a Walgreen's near you? Guest guest
I said the cream that worked so good was Lotrimin. It is actually called Lotrisone and I found out today that they only produce the lotion now as the cream went to a generic about 6 months ago. The name of the generic is Clotrimazole and Betamethasone Dipropionate Cream, USP Wenoka (AMY - 7, - 5 - Hyper IgM, Christi - 15 months) At 10:37 PM 03/17/2002 -0600, you wrote: >No Walgreens here.
