Guest guest
I have been using BioKult since forever, but no-one seems to mention it anymore. Is anyone else still using it, and how do you think it rates compared to these other ones? I just get stuck in my ways with the supplement regime I'm used to..... I think I'll try CP1, but can someone tell me if you can empty out the capsules, and whether they dissolve completely in juice without a funny taste etc. Neither of my boys can swallow capsules yet. TIA Vicky Vicky, You can give as much probios until you see negative effects, really. I believe that no LD50 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LD50 has been established (is this right, anyone who may know?). Meaning that the levels for toxicity have to be pretty darn high (like giving a child cups full of probiotics!) before any toxicity occurs. They are pretty harmless as far as toxicity is concerned but obviously can cause loose stools in some, delayed gastric emptying and/or constipation. If his breath is bad and you don't see any detrimental effects then you can give as many as you like to see if it shifts the problem. I'd give more than one a day if could tolerate it but he just can't at this time it just causes too much constipation. Hope that helps! Guest guest
Just caught this, . Where do you get CP1? My daughter has a dreadful smell coming through her mouth and definately from the bowels so I know we have to work on this.... Rotating Probiotics Hi I have been using CP1 for sometime now and I want to rotate the pro-biotics. I have found CP1 to be very good as for the first time Luke is now clear of dysbiotic flora - so I want a simalar pro-biotic - can someone recommend a similar and effective pro-biotic please. Guest guest
Hi Luke won't take his supplements in a drink - so I wrap his probiotics in a sweet and he munches it down no problem. Always wondered if it mattered that I wrap it in a sweet - but I had tried so many other ways that hadn't worked! The taste is not that strong - Luke certainly doesn't seem to mind. Guest guest
Thats interesting Mandi - I might just stay with CP1 (I mean it certainly seemed to work for Luke) - I am also using sacc B at moment - but might add in some culturelle too. (Trying to rid of yeast problem at mo - though also giving diflucan - which should do the trick!!) Guest guest
Yes, it’s definitely true but as Mandi says you can keep CP1 going and rotate something alongside it. The way does it is to have, for example, CP1 in the morning and then one of about 3 different ones (use each one until the bottle is all used up) in the evening. Guest guest
I always use CP1 as i find it the most deadly ! I use Biocare Bifido Bifidum in the morning CP1 at night. Others you can try are L caseii and L salivarius from www.metabolics.co.uk Good strains for fighting indican bacteria levels if they dare to raise their ugly heads Joanne > > Hi > > I have been using CP1 for sometime now and I want to rotate the pro-biotics. Guest guest
Hi Thanks for the idea about putting CP1 in a sweet, but I'd rather do it in juice if it dissolves. Does anyone know if it does dissolve, as BioKult just melts into the juice without a trace, and I don't want to buy (yet another) supplement that I end up not being able to use. Thanks,
Guest guest
If the " bad breath " comes from mouth bacteria, the probios should mainly contain L. salivarius, that can colonize mouth, and xylitol and mannitol also have som antibacterial effect...if the smell comes from gut - via lungs, any other strain could be tried... Guest guest
Thanks everyone, I would say not exactly constipated but very large hard to pass stools usually once a day, I always thought because he was regular then he wasn't constipated but probably wrong there. He is very fussy about teeth cleaning taking an inordinate amount of time in the bathroom partly due to being told he smells and partly Aspie kind of obsession, the smell is really poohey though rather than oral. I'll start giving him extra CP1 had been giving in the morning and order some other stuff from Mandimart see how we get on. Vicky xx

Guest guest
We just use primal defense. Our dr said it is stronger than the others so don't need to take so many. Also he doesn't think we need to rotate. Guest guest
Have you asked your GP? No idea what breath like poo means (well, I know what YOU mean but not what IT means) but breath like wee can mean kidney problems even failure and all sorts of nasties. Breath is not meant to smell like poo. Is it all the time? > > So how many are you all giving? Guest guest
Irene, we were rotating klaire's detoxification along with Saccharomyces Boulardi and Therbiotic Complete. Given results on dd's latest GI Panel with Diagnos Techs, it was easy to argue that they weren't having the desired effect (yeast, inflammation, etc). So, upon the recommendation of our hormone specialist, we have switched to Natren Life Start 1. Check out their products. The philosophy behind their products I believe is somewhat diff from the probiotic lines that seem to be popular in the autism community - cultivate one or two strains well rather than a bunch that end up competing with each other. Jury's still out on dd's gut, but I also started our 2 yo on it - she was suffering from chronic diarrhea and exzema, and after about a week, she started getting better. She's almost cured now after a month. olivia > > Is there any benefit to rotating probiotics? Our DAN! was against this. However, we have been using Klaire's Detoxification probiotic along with Kirkman's L. Acidophilus probiotic exclusively for over a year. So our son is only getting a few strains of good gut bugs. I wondered if it is still effective or is getting the job done. His gut issues are better, but still present, and yeast flares up here and there. Hard to know with this kind of thing. > A friend of mine has used the Living Streams Liquid probiotic with some success. I was wondering if it might be worth it to switch to this or rotate in this probiotic. Or if it ain't broke, don't fix it? > Irene > > > > >
Guest guest
Our local health food store has run out of the brand we have been using for some time now. It is time for me to reorder or change brands. I was wondering if it is ok to rotate change the strain we have been using? So far we have had good success. . Reading the achieves on rotating probiotics I have noticed that some think it's a good idea some think it is not at it may build up a tolerance to all the strains. Both reasoning make some sense. What do you think is ok and what is everyone doing as far as changing brands and strains? TIA Marry s mum to and
