Or anyone that can please help. But I believe it was who looked at our

son ' blood results last week (posted under temp hair files ~ Nicky J)

and said I should get his thyroid checked. I came back and said the ped said

they were normal and you said to make sure they checked it right.

I've been hearing that a lot...that ped's don't check the thyroid correctly.

Below is the results. Can you tell from this whether or not she checked him

correctly and if there is anything else I need to test him for or what it is I

need to tell the ped? Thanks sooooo much for your help!!!!!

*Iron Binding Capacity ~

Transferrin was low...7 points low (173)

Total iron binding capacity was right at the lowest reference

range...228

*T3, Free ~ within range (3.84)

*T4, Free ~within range (0.97)

*TSH ~ within range (4.22)

Were these the ones she was to test? Thanks again sooo very much!!!

Hi

Kenny here.

I'm not sure if I am capable of interpreting this test, but it might help if you

can include the actual ranges and whether you know if this is a child ref.

range, they are often not.

Andy did tell me the ref. range of freeT3's for kids under 8 regarding my own

son's test but not in these units.

Hi Again ,

T4 seems EXTREMELY low depending on what the reference range is - it's

always a good idea to obtain the reference ranges as well as the actual results

then you can see where abouts in the reference range the results fall. Although

results may be within the reference range and considered 'normal' this

doesn't always mean all is well - the child/person may need to be higher up the

range to enjoy optimal health. Who knows what 'normal' is for any

individual????? 'Normal' is when everything is working ok and the child/person

is

healthy!!!!

Although I realise you may not reside in the UK, take a look at

_www.thyroiduk.org_ (http://www.thyroiduk.org) where you may glean some

helpful

information. Hope it helps. If you feel I may be of any further help, please

feel

free to email me on my private email addy.

Kindest Regards

Hi Barbie! Thanks for your help! Sorry, I did mean to post the reference

ranger earlier, but didn't realize I did not. I did just repost with the

reference ranges.

Thanks for the link! Its been most helpful!

How do I tell the ped who says all is normal that they need to look into it

further?? How do I say, uh, eh, that blood test you took doesn't tell me

squat...please do more testing! " lol!

I need to know what other tests she should preform on him to rule this out. In

that link you posted they mention FT4 & TT4

TPOAb & TgAb, rT3. I don't see any of these on the blood work. Maybe ask her

about those???

Also, when they say high or low...do they mean higher or lower than the

reference range or the number they provide??

Hi

Hopefully Jan or may reply as they are more on the ball with this kind

of thing than I, or with a bit of luck Andy.

If this is an age appropriate ref.range then as far as the free T3's are

concerned which are important in young children this looks good, however looking

at the paediatric ref. range in the files section here I suspect that an adult

ref. range was used, providing that the test used the same units as here i.e.

pg/ml, in which case the freeT3's are actually quite low. The range according to

the files here for free T3 should be 2.4-6.7 and a child of 3 should ideally be

in the upper half of this range.

If possible it might be worth phoning the lab and asking if a child ref. range

was used, I did this regarding my son's test and fortunately got through to the

lady that analysed the test who coyly admitted that the ref. ranged used for my

son applied to anyone from 6 months old onwards, even if you was 90 yars old the

same ref. range was used.

Best wishes Kenny

===>Apologies, but we need the reference ranges from the LabCorp Pediatric

Ahhhhhh!!! Ok, sorry, didn't realize such a thing existed in the files! Ok, I

looked in there and I believe, as Kenny mentioned, he is in the lower range for

T4 free. But the other 2 seem to be in the right range...from what I see.

T3,Free serum ped range male: 1-5 yr 2.4-6.7

* 3.84

T4,Free serum ped range male: 1-5 yr 0.90-1.59

* 0.97

TSH male: 1 mo-5 yr 0.55-7.10

* 4.22

So, here is a general whats going on with him...

*high copper in blood

*low iron

*serious yeast issue (from what I know-not according to OATS)

* you mentioned see low b12 in blood work up-and I agree

*told he has Pyrrole disorder

*told he currently is low histamine

Thanks and everyone else!!!! You guys rock!!!!

From:

===>You want the Free T3 and Free T4 within the top 1/3-1/4 of the range.

Using that, his Free T3 and T4 look low to me. And his TSH is high, what

symptoms is he experiencing.

T3,Free serum ped range male: 1-5 yr 2.4-6.7

* 3.84

T4,Free serum ped range male: 1-5 yr 0.90-1.59

* 0.97

TSH male: 1 mo-5 yr 0.55-7.10

* 4.22

So, here is a general whats going on with him...

*high copper in blood

===>Use zinc (weight +20 mgs) and molybdenum (dosage in HTI) to bring down

high copper

*low iron

===>I wouldn't worry about this, not that low and mercury toxic kids/people

often purposely keep their iron low to reduce oxidative stress. You can cook in

cast iron and give Vitamin C with meals as that will increase iron uptake.

Synthetic iron destroys Vitamin E and can be constipating, so I wouldn't

supplement.

*serious yeast issue (from what I know-not according to OATS)

===>Lots of probiotics, Wild Oil of Oregano, high dose biotin (5-10 mgs per

meal) and/or GSE.

* you mentioned see low b12 in blood work up-and I agree

*told he has Pyrrole disorder

*told he currently is low histamine

Thanks and everyone else!!!! You guys rock!!!!

Hi Again ,

I have a brilliant article which used to be on Thyroid UK site - I'll try

and find it and post on group. May take a little while.

Take care.

I think this is an adult reference range. If he is a 6 or 8 year old, the range

is up to 6.2.
