Guest guest
Thanks for the comments, Jim. It would be interesting to see how many drug abusers end up with Parkinson's later in life. My dad had Parkinson's disease--he may have developed it after taking Valium. He tended to have angina, so maybe the Valium was for that. I once read a BB posting about dopamine, chocolate, and acetaldehyde from candida. There was kind of a chain thing going on there. J. Actually " most " drug abuse -prevents- Parkinson's -- if : 1) you agree that " most " drug abuse is the smoking of tobacco, 2) if you agree not to count alcohol and sugar consumption as drug abuse, and 3) if illegal drug use is in fact not more prevalent than tobacco smoking. Tobacco smokers -- who are addicted to the spurt of dopamine released by inhaling tobacco smoke -- actually have a -lower- rate of Parkinson's, according to recent medical research... Someday we'll see if today's Ritalin users have a lower, or a higher, rate of Parkinson's Disease in later life. Bill ..
Guest guest
Has anyone read the article by a female MD regarding valium? She claims that valium stimulates tumor growth. She stated that doctors would prescribe valium to mellow out women who had been scheduled for biopsies of suspicious lumps in their breast. By the time the biopsy was performed they had indeed developed full blown tumors. I was shocked not by the allegation, but because the author was a practicing MD (and by no means a radical one). jd p.s. I am curious why the following message was addressed to all " druggies " ... are you implying only " druggies " would enjoy the benefits of fava beans? I would think a better title would be: To all those interested in Life Extension.... in fact as i recall, Durk Pearson and Sandy Shaw wrote about " velvet beans " in their Life Extension book in the 80s. Those associated with the health food industry will recognize many of Pearson and Shaw's formulas were promoted by TwinLab. Although I saw Silence of the Lambs... i never picked up on the fava bean connection.... perhaps i was thinking of " velvet beans " . Are you maligning the benefits of this bean? I know that Pearson and Shaw are hardly conventional, but fava beans are considered extremely healthy by those I have corresponded. It seems to me that the person who developed Enada NADH...wasn't his father associated with a Parkinson's treatment? I also believe that L-Dopa is stilled used for Parkinsons... but with another drug to lessen the adversity and increase the duration of benefit. I know that the herb Macuna is a potent source of L-Dopa... and is used by body builders and life extensionists (GH release) and also an ingredient in some sexual performance revitalizers. jd Re: Dopamine To all " druggies " 1. Fava beans contain l-dopa, a precursor to dopamine. This has been used unsucessfully as treatment for Parkinsons. The fame of these beans was elevated in the movie " Silence of the Lambs " - the killer ate fava beans. 2. Selegiline HCL (deprenyl) is a selective inhibitor of MAO-B and acts predominately in the glial cells of the brain. It also protects the dopamine-producing neurons in the brain (substantia Nigra)hence it's use as an anti-aging substance. Discovery Experimental of Florida has isolated this from the ephedra plant, however, the FDA is reportedly trying to steal their formula - Liquid Deprenyl Citrate. It is supposed to be much better than the FDA-approved versions, some of which are laced with methamphetamine due to mfg. contamination. Selegiline also prevents the breakdown of PEA (Phenylethylamine), one of the feel good chemicals in chocolate. PEA deficiency is often related to CNS depression as is low dopamine. PEA can be produced from d-phenylalanine, which is why DLPA & deprenyl is sucessfully used to alleviate this condition. I am curious why the following message was addressed to all " druggies " ... are you implying only " druggies " would enjoy the benefits of fava beans? > No, they can also be enjoyed by serial killers. This was a joke, Dr. JD!!!! I'm not maligning fava beans, I eat them too occaisionally. However, the studies I've read on l-dopa vs parkinsons are that it's effect is only short-lived. There are many studies on life extension's www.lef.org that are pretty good re: this and many other life extension topics. Deprenyl has also been used for this. NADH also raises production of dopamaine and serotonin so it may be useful in " Parkinson's " . I have seen much evidence that mercury and other heavy metal toxicities are implicated in this and other allopathically-labelled conditions such as Alzheimers, ALS, MS, Lupus, ADD, Depression, etc. Obviously hypnoxia is also a major factor. The reason IMHO that " They " can't pinpoint the cause, is that the causes are of multiple origin. Eventually we will define these conditions by the true causes when the allopathic paradigm is replaced in not only the physician's minds but the general public. This will be facilitated by use of diagnostic tools such as EDS, dark field mic, genetic mapping, EMF analysis, etc. I am also on a metals list which discusses primarily mercury tox. @ metals@.... The implications of mercury poisoning are staggering. Do you think " they " will ever acknowledge this. I just had a discussion with my kid's " doctor " yesterday, who couldn't understand why my kids are getting bellies. This was after I explained that High-GI foods are the primary cause. How can you get through med school and practice for 20 years and not understand something so fundamental? Guest guest
Good point. It would appear from this that nicotine stimulates the release of dopamine without burning out the dopamine producing neurons as do some other stimulants. I have seen some docs use it as an anti-aging drug. This remined me of the chocolate issue, in the the delivery system, not the indiginous drugs, are most harmful. I suspect most smokers die rather unpleasantly prior to the onset of " Parkinsons " . Guest guest
Maybe someone can send me in the right direction on this. My sons OATS test just came today. One of the areas I dont quite understand is where it says he has Dopamine turnover stimulation. Does anyone know what this is? It also says he has alot of ammonia and ALA plus Argine can help with this. We are starting this weekend adding ALA to his DMSA every three hours. Thank you Louise
