Hi All,

This tip-toe walking has been going on since she turned 15 mos.  She started

walking at 9 mos. and finally let me put shoes on her 2 months ago, and she

still tip toe walks in her shoes.

Currently she has no words and ECI has already intervened.  She has an OT eval

tomorrow and soon will also start PT and Speech.  Any advice would be

appreciated.  She is currently on no special diet. As far as I know, she has no

physical reactions to Gluten or Casein, although I suspect that she may be

stopped up from maybe dairy?  Occasionally she will have hard balls of poop, but

her stool varies usually.

What tests should we run if any at all?

Thanks,

Hi, I have heard this is due to gut inflammation and pain. You can do an

elimination diet to determine what foods she is sensitive to, if any. You take

away the specific food for 2-3 weeks and then add it back into her diet and note

the reaction (behavior, look of the stools, etc.). Some of the members of the

board have had good luck with giving Houston Enzymes before every meal instead

of a restricted diet. My son definitely needs the restricted diet and improved

significantly with it. One of the best pieces of advice I got was to cook all

meals at home like " grandma would " , meaning no processed ingredients, everything

from scratch.

For gut healing, I would give flax seed oil (you can get a bottle where it

squirts out and squirt directly in her mouth a couple times a day) and magnesium

(epsom salt baths or oral). Also important is to give a diet very low in sweets

and try to soften (steam) or puree vegetables so they are easy to digest. I am

a big fan of food being used as vitamins or food-based vitamins (such as Daily

Foods) and liquid minerals (www.kornax.com) you can put in water.

This usually meant constipation at my house. Are you doing anything about yeast

control? Yeast was usually constipating here.
