Guest guest
On page 127 of Andy Cutler's book Amalgam Illness, he mentions a blood histamine test. > > I have been trying to search the archives on histamine levels, but I am still new at this, is there a test or something I should ask for when we go to the doctor next week for the other testing that would help show us whether or not this might be something or not? Or am I just dreaming here? >
Guest guest
> > My son is taking numerous supplements and we are getting ready to re-test him in readiness for beginning chelation in about a month or so. It is turning spring and yesterday morning he was sneezing his head off so I gave him an anthistamine " Ed A-Hist " that was given to us by his doctor. He usually can't take Benedryl, etc because it hypes him up so much, but the doctor recommended this stuff, so I figured I would try it once, only to find ALL of him stimming, etc to disappear! He was soooo calm and all of his speach for the day, and even into today, is very clear and understandable. > > > This is a common reaction to anti-histamines, especially if the child is eating foods not tolerated. > > Dana > Wow, really, he is already gluten/casein free and we have eliminated everything else that showed up as potential problems on his IgG and IgE tests. Wonder what else there may be? Maybe someone is slipping him something I don't know about? But he has been really stimmy all of his life, the only thing we have never been able to get under control. His yeast levels have always been really low, could never figure it out. Thanks for the insight. Betsy

Tests are only about 80% accurate. >>Wonder what else there may be? Have you tried digestive enzymes? >>Maybe someone is slipping him something I don't know about? He has been taking those for about two weeks. I switched because I could never determine any difference in behavior or in his bowel movements, etc from being gluten/casein free or not. Thought I might give him these enzymes and maybe reintroduce some foods and see what happens. His stims are mostly verbal in nature, but there is still the hand flapping when he gets really excited about something no matter where he is. He can communicate some with us, he does have some language, but still doesn't " talk " to us on a full time basis. He mostly just makes lots of noises that must mean something to him or make him feel good somehow. These are the stims that disappeared for the two days on the anti-histamine. It is full blown allergy season here so I have given him a little more of the stuff cautiously, but it does seem to calm him down. It is just so very strange. I guess now I have to determine what he is allergic to?

Flapping here was caused by viruses, yeast overgrowth, and deficiency of B vitamins. >>He can communicate some with us, he does have some language, but still doesn't " talk " to us on a full time basis. He gets allergies from mold. Does OLE helps? My son is on DMSA right now. I noticed when I started taking OLE for myself, that my environmental allergies were gone. A few people on other lists have also noticed this. You can certainly try the OLE, see if it helps your son. Dana
