Guest guest
This is a bit off topic but I wanted to share an incident that happened yesterday. It is kinda funny now when I can look at it a bit better, but at the time....scared me spitless and a few other things. , is my youngest...quite autistic, but better. He can read at a mid year first grade level and the math just a bit lower. He can run and play....he's 10...but mentally...um somewhere around 3-5 depending on the day. I am prefacing my story to give ya an idea why or how it happened. , Chris(prolly asper now and FAS and 11goin on 7-15...lol...ya know how kids can be!!) Beth (asper...15 but mentally much much younger) were playing with my old electric teapot...the bottom doesn't work...so they go a new shiney toy! The top...they play teaparty with some plastic mugs I used to use before I learned a few things. No liquids...just pretend. The older two didn't want to play tea party and got up and left. continued to spin the top and play tea party with his " guests....hey we go imagination goin!! He was playing with a cup talkin into it and havin fun. I looked away for a moment and he had it on his face stuck...he popped it off and went into the house and I heard a screech from one of the older older ones...inside. " Mom!!! Come quick!! Something is wrong with " I highballed it into the house....and there was with a HUGE lip and chin that looked like it had been red and bruised. The lip was soooooooooo fat and so full. First thing I did was that I got him a benedryl and and smeared his lip and inside his mouth with bentonite clay. Then checked his respirations and pulse and they were both fine. No bug bite marks on his lips or tongue or cheeks..inside or out...I started to breathe a bit again...I think I figured out what happened....I checked the cup for anything he could have gotten in his mouth...and found drool...not uncommon for him...he sometimes spits in things....and I think he got a perfect suction on his mouth and chin and it made a mess of him... We continued to put cold compresses on him and by bedtime a couple hours later his mouth was just about back to normal. Has a bad looking bruise on his chin....or maybe more aptly put a huge hickey!!! Needless to say the kids tea parties will have to be sans cups from now on. It just amazes me how trouble can happen with innocent play and from the most bizarre happenings. The fact that I was there watching him and not far away...didn't matter...and that I thought he was safe and free from harm...oops didn't matter....ya know this isn't my first kiddo....I have 9....and 4 are aspers or autistic...the other 5 are on the spectrum...life has never been run of the mill...but this was a new one on me!! Thank God for GABA and nerve tonic on days like this. Ronni
