Guest guest
Ok - exactly WHY does our hair come out? Is it because of the prednisone or the imuran - or the disease itself? If you read about prednisone, it supposedly causes hair GROWTH. Imuran states it has been known to cause alopecia. Randi Re: [ ] Autoimmune Hepatitis> > > Hi Colleen welcome. Guest guest
Oh then I can't wait for my hair to grow back. Good to know it will grow back. But it's turning from blonde to grey, tee hee! Guest guest
Yes I really am a blond, but a graying one at that....I color it now so I can make it look better than it was before it was graying. Sure wish it would stop thinning. Jerry, tell me, my doctor finally agreed to let me take the flu shot. She said she did not want me to take it because she said it would not work now. I am on 2.5 mg prednisone and 50 mg Imuran. What do you think of this? I am going to get it but I really want the hep A vaccine. I have had the hep B about 10 years ago. Thanks! RE: [ ] Re: Autoimmune Hepatitis It doesn't have to be gray, ...my wife told me she was a blond but I suspect she really wasn't. None of us would tell... love jerry
Guest guest
I will get the shots ASAP. Thanks! RE: [ ] Re: Autoimmune Hepatitis ..... I can only go by what I've read and my own experience but 2.5 mgs of pred. and 50 imuran doesn't sound like much and shouldn't affect the shots. Much of my experience is with THE Cleveland Clinic and they have INSISTED since my transplant to get my flu shots yearly and told me a year or two ago to get a booster for pneumonia. My PCP and my local Gastroenterologist both tell me the same thing. I'm told I'm high risk to get the flu.... PRECISELY because I'm immunosupressed. I don't believe the immunos play that significant of part in altering the inoculations. I'm on 5 mgs. pred and have taken various doses of Prograf daily for 7 yrs. In fact the oncologist and hep. Dr. at the Clinic have both said that my cancer is most probably because of my immunosupression In my opinion get the shots. love jerry
Guest guest
I don't understand; can you tell us more? Your pain is a result of AIH; is that correct? What sort of pain is it? What medications are you taking for AIH? How were you diagnosed and when? What does your doctor say about the pain and your treatment? As you probably know, the standard treatment is Prednisone in combination with an immunosuppressant. Best wishes. Guest guest
Hi Judy are you on anything beside steroids like Imuran or any other immunosuppresant? I have taken many things for pain. you need to call your doctor or if you can't wait go to the E.R. and let them check your liver panels and see if they will give you something. I have always found them to be very helpful. If your doctor can be reached by calling the hospital and having him paged that is probably the best thing to do first. We all have experienced pain at one time or another and it depends on how bad and what type of pain it is as to what the doctors do. Good luck and let us know how you make out. the WV hillbilly LOVE IS IN ALL THINGS AND IN ALL THINGS IS LOVE [ ] autoimmune hepatitis Can anyone read this? Guest guest
Congratulations! This is wonderful news! Although I've heard of fibroscans, I haven't heard of Fenofibrate. It certainly seems to be working for you. Oddly, when I looked it up, I saw " do not use if you have hepatitis or cirrhosis " . Thank you for sharing your history with us. We're always happy to hear success stories. Best wishes. Guest guest
I was diagnosed in January 2000 with AIH.I was diagnosed with PBC in September 1999. I took prednisolone 10mgs for AIH for a couple of years, urso for PBC and atorvastatin 10mgs for cholesterol. I have had a couple of years taking Cellcept and came off Prednisolone totally. I am now off Cellcept and also off atorvastatin and have responded miraculously to Fenofibrate 67mg twice daily. At this time -I am one of 17 patients,I believe, to be given fenofibrate by my consultant and all have had good results so far. I had a fibroscan a couple of months ago and have found that my liver is no longer cirrhotic but is only now a little fibrotic.Considering I was staged at Stage 4 in 1999 with jaundice, fatigue, persistant itch and was advised that I may have to be transplanted in the next couple of years -I think that life has improved dramatically. A fibroscan is : - A mechanical pulse at the surface of the skin triggers propagation through the liver of an elastic wave whose velocity is measured by ultrasound. - The wave's velocity is governed by the hardness of the environment it crosses. - The stiffness of the liver directly correlates to the level of fibrosis: the harder the liver, themore severe the fibrosis. Guest guest
...yes there is. it's uncommon. i have no links, but followed the progression for a long time of a woman on a hep list a couple years ago, getting to know her a bit. she lives in utah i believe. devout christian. she went to california when local docs gave up. the big guns of hepatology in so. calif. gave up, frustrated. she was desperate... miserable, getting worse, etc. she somehow heard about " dr. " donsbach and his clinic in mexico. now donsbach has a pretty flaky and shady history, but he's also a smart guy and has had some popular call-in radio shows. his clinic in calif was shut down and re-opened in mexico. she went there, stayed through treatment with some various enzymes and lots of CS. it worked. she said it was really sad getting to know people there and watching them die from the cancers they were being treated for. she went home, stayed on CS for i don't know how long and stayed well... we lost touch when i changed ISP's and got tired of being invited to bible lessons. i hooked her up with an old retired pharmacist that sells CS he makes along with a lot of other old-time health/wellness products of yesteryear. his CS is cheap and good... the shipping isn't but that's not his fault. > RE: [low dose naltrexone] Re: 6 Good weeks on LDN - > then bang hit the wall ?! > > Are you saying there is a disease called autoimmune > hepatitis?
