It's not the same as K1. http://www.mothering.com/discussions/showthread.php?t=399989 My son has lots of cavities, and I really think this is related to his hair test showing all-low essential minerals. He's now taking Catalyn and Bio-Dent by Standard Process, as well as K2, D3, and a multi-mineral supplement (plus extra cal and mag). Magnesium is very important, not just calcium. Some of the chalky white areas are going away. The chalky white is an indication that the teeth are demineralizing. I'm not sure if his cavities are going away yet. I do use topical fluoride though. It seems like when I switched him to bottled water to avoid fluoride is when all the problems started. Guest guest
I wonder if all new mom's should have their breast milk tested? I know breast milk is superior to cow's milk . However, there may be many mom's who are not nutritionally healthy themselves whose breast milk does not contain all that is needed for the fast growing infant brain.. Guest guest
Hi, My daughter had to undergo surgery when she was around 4 or 5 to remove her back teeth because of severe decay due to the bottle and sugary juice. Her front teeth were so perfect and aligned that I didn't realize what was going on in the back of her mouth. I would definitely get this looked at by a dentist. In my situation, I listened to everyone who told me " Oh, just let those teeth fall out on their own " and my daughter's teeth actually got worse. Due to mineral deficiency, my daughter's new set of teeth are streaky and crooked. Our current supplement routine helps keep my daughter's teeth healthy and we do cleaning about every 4 to 5 months. The streaks are going away. I figure I will do braces after chelation (mainly recovery). Good luck, S. From: lucy4gets <lucy2max@...> Subject: [ ] does anyone know the cause of tooth rot in toddler? Guest guest
I really don't believe the breast milk is the problem. Chilren with ASD have huge gut and absorption issues they are not getting the nutrients into their bodies and therefor it doesn't matter how nutrient dense the food going in is. The gut needs to be healed first. Many mothers on the GAPShelp group report their children gaining weight and reversing their tooth decay once the gut issues are addressed and THEN the right nutrients are introduced. Cod Liver Oil is a big one. http://www.westonaprice.org/envtoxins/fluoridationfraud.html http://gapsdiet.com/Home_Page.html just a thought, > > I wonder if all new mom's should have their breast milk tested? Guest guest
Regardless of her own diet, a mother's breastmilk is usually adequately nutritious for her baby. Even severely malbourished mothers will make milk that contains the right nutrients for her infant. The body will ensure that the baby is properly nourished even when the mother is not. It's also important if you're considering NOT breastfeeding an infant, to think about what you will give instead. Cow milk formula is equally contaminated, as well as not being nutritionally appropriate for human babies. Soy is also not biologically right for human babies. The elemental formulas are based on corn syrup or rice, and aren't a great option unless a baby is very sick. Everything that's an alternative to mother's milk is far inferior to it, even if the mother's milk is contaminated. Guest guest
My sons teeth did the exact same thing at the same age. It was explained to me that this was because he was on 2 very powerful antibiotics, along with 2 blood pressure meds just after birth because of a raging infection (probably caused by my Rhogam shot while he was en-utero). For this we spent 3 weeks at the Children's Mercy Hospital in KC, MO. I was told by my dentist that broken teeth are quite normal in that instance. The dentist said it was the antibiotics that did it. Guest guest
Debbie- I have read/seen Dr. Green out of Oregon talk a lot about a mom's milk and the toxins in it. I think studies show it is still better to breast feed for as long as possible- even if the mom is on mediocre diet and is toxic. There are still many benefits to doing it. I almost did a test on myself- I think DDI has a test for about $100. I didn't though, but it would be interesting to see results, no doubt. Tons of pcbs and pesticides come through. I think this area should be studied even MORE because my kid didn't has any assault but my toxins and a wee bit from the environment (no vaxes or any true insults-yet he is not doing so great). I also know a mom we ho I always assumed was very mercury toxic and has a child on the spectrum and she breastfeed for a long time. She also has amalgams in. so this is an interesting subject to be explored. I always wonder about those " breast milk banks " - they filter the milk- but what actually ends up in it in the end? are toxins removed? I can't see them doing that because of expense- maybe they just filter it for bacteria and pasterize or something? Toxins still probably in their as well! Guest guest
fluoride and decalcification cause this. Most children do not get enough vitamin K, D and calcium to build and maintain teeth. Infant teeth are formed in utero. If a mom were sick or deficient herself in any of those things...the infant would not make good tooth enamel. Add to that the fluoride in infancy....and you have a recipe for bad teeth. The rhogam is another issue entirely..that may or may not have had mercury, depending on which one you had and when you had it. Not a direct cause of the tooth problem, but I am sure toxins factor into poor dietary absorption in children, thus leading to weak enamel. Most water in this country is flouridated to a level that is toxic to infants. The current recommendations are not to use tap water to mix formula. Dr. Weston Price did some phenomenal work on tooth decay and enamel and his determination was that the diet of the mother and infant contribute to poor dental enamel and subsequent tooth decay. Tooth decay is the break down of bone....this is osteoporosis, though dentists deny it. He found that his was generational and got worse in each passing generation. If the grand mother was deficient in nutrients in pregnancy, then the child was. The child grows up with " so so " teeth and her children are more deficient that she was, so their teeth are worse...and on it keeps going. He said the results of a poor nutrient diet can be seen in subsequent generations. And that if a mother corrects her nutrition during pregnancy and continues this with that infant...the infants children will begin to have better teeth. But fluoride makes weak brittle enamel and replaces calcium in teeth... > > my little guy had all his baby teeth rotted and broken away when he was 1.5-2.5yrs old. Guest guest
Eating meats and dairy from pastured animals provides many many essentials fat-soluble vitamins and minerals that are vital to good oral health. You might want to read the work by Dr. Weston A Price here: www.westonaprice.org the GAPS diet also recommends meat and cultured dairy. www.gapsdiet.org Dr. Natasha -McBride recovered her son from severe autism and developed this diet based on her experience. Raw food is important for nutrients and enzymes however meat and meat products are important also. > > > > my little guy had all his baby teeth rotted and broken away when he was 1.5-2.5yrs old. Guest guest
There's definitely a genetic component. My father has good teeth, my mother horrible teeth. My sister and I have bad teeth, but my brother's is fine. We all ate the same thing growing up. Actually, my brother was the most sick one and hardly ate anything. My mom probably had nutrient deficiencies with all 3 of us. My husband and his sister's teeth are fine. They were told they have alkaline saliva. My husband barely brushes his teeth and never flosses, yet hygienists and dentists tell him they wish everyone's teeth and gums were like his. So keeping saliva alkaline is also important (or I read pH of 5.5 or below corrodes enamel). Saliva turns acidic after eating, and it can last for an hour depending on what you ate. If we can't brush our teeth after eating, we use xylitol mints and gums. If baby teeth are tight together, they need to be flossed daily like adult teeth. Healthier baby teeth have gaps in between, and these don't need to be flossed as the toothbrush gets in between them. With genetic things aside, I am seeing an improvement in my son's teeth. We do a " 21st century " Weston Price protocol. We use supplements instead of a lot of things because my son is too picky to drink bone broth daily. We do drink raw milk from grassfed cows, use raw butter when we can, eat free-range chickens and eggs, take K2 instead of butter oil, CLO, D, C,etc. We don't eat organ meats, especially liver - if I think about what a liver does, I don't want to be eating those toxins. BTW, a guy who created Standard Process (maker of Bio-Dent) was friends with Weston Price. It's a supplement for building strong bones and teeth. He also takes Catalyn and a multi-mineral supplement. Guest guest
For my son it was a very high bacterial count in his saliva. Pear juice at night didn't help either. Once we changed both of these things the surface cavities stopped. HTH, Jen > > my little guy had all his baby teeth rotted and broken away when he was 1.5-2.5yrs old. Guest guest
This may have occurred because the gluten intolerance was contributing to malabsorption, and depriving the body of the things it needs to build bone. Calcium,D and K. > > > > > > > > > > > > my little guy had all his baby teeth rotted and broken away when he > > > was 1.5-2.5yrs old. Guest guest
Based on my kids, lots of hindsite, and info slamming, I tend to suspect fluoride & lead as the main underlying causes. Lead being the bigger one, with fluoride " adding insult to injury " for them. elizabeth > > my little guy had all his baby teeth rotted and broken away when he was 1.5-2.5yrs old. Guest guest
yes- I agree. chelating, being fluoride free, giving plenty of vits (esp D) hopefully, will be a GOOD thing for my younger one! don't want to have to go through all that tooth reconstruction again as we did with our other one!!
