Guest guest
Hi Dana! if you don't mind asking... Why you used a Protein Powder and then added individual aminos? aminos needs proteins to work better? what about a high protein and balanced diet? Thanks! > > > > Anyone use aminos? My son ate a balanced diet also, but he needed extra aminos, and would be physically unable to eat that much protein, and I was unsure that he was properly breaking down the protein into aminos in the first place. Guest guest
Hi Dana! Well my son is really allergic to soy & dairy, so whey is not much of a choice for us. can I introduce those amino acids you mentioned but low doses without whey powder? Thanks! > > > > What brand and doses would you recommend for a 3 1/2 yrs old [38 lbs - gfcfsf diet- ASD] > > > I used Jay Robb Whey Protein powder, which is cf, but if you are avoiding all milk and not just casein, might not be good for you. Guest guest
Hello, Are kids who are mercury toxic need amino acid supplements? Is there a broad spectrum Amino acid product that you can give safely to help our kids? Thanks, Maya

Guest guest
We've been using kirkman's aminos in powder form. Guest guest
Until you know more, you're better off only supplementing lysine. If you have a viral kid (HHV1-6 issues), arginine would not be recommended as the herpes virus thrives in arginine and do very poorly in a lysine rich environment so that ratio must always be kept in control - low arginine/high lysine. Just the fact that you are low in lysine would make me wonder if you have viral issue. Presumably supplementing both would be helpful since he is deficient and also to bring his body to a more neutral pH. > > I'm considering supplementing by giving 1 scoop of protein powder plus adding both Arginine and Lysine 2x/day. > > Anyone else tried this or similar? > Best with foods or alone? > Did it help with acid reflux or body acidity? > Deb > >
Guest guest
He tested low in Arginine and low in Lysine. I have tried them both seperately and it did not go well. Giving both together is working much better for him. I think this addresses both bacteria and virus' and I'm hoping it also makes the body more base. While he is a herpes child (zoster) he also seems to have oxalate issues. Therefore we need the Arginine as well. Making the body less acidic is one of my main goals right now. Diet tonic water is also working well when I dose 4oz. 2oz is not enough. I've also added cucumber and watermelon, little tiny bites so far. Maybe he will learn to like them. Guest guest
Dear Deb, Can you please share where I can read about lysine/arginine and acidity? My son gets reflux occasionally and is low in lysine. Also, his growth slowed down, and I think I read that taking lysine can make it even slower. Guest guest
Hi San, I googled it. Wikipedia had the part about being base vs acid I believe. I started my boy on Lysine and Arginine due to his lab tests being low. I believe his acid reflux is better today and I have given very healthy amounts of both amino acids and not given any acid reflux meds today because I have not needed to. I put extra amounts into a rice protein drink 2x today. He is extremely happy instead of agitated today. Guest guest
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lysine That is where it says that Lysine and Arginine are base. It seems that a complete protein would contain both. So if the body is deficient in one or both, we would be able to give a complete protein + extra of the amino acids that are deficient in order to help the body. I know some compounding pharmacies will make up custom amino acids but I think it is less expensive to do it myself, and I'm running out of money So I bought rice protein powder plus arginine plus lysine and I'm just mixing them in water.
