Guest guest
Jeanne, I think they would be fine as long as you are planning to cook them ( I assume they are raw)! I know people used to leave meat to thaw all day on the counter while they were at work and they never had a problem (even though it's no longer recommended). Nothing would grow even at room temperature unless it had been contaminated somehow along the way (but you don't know one way or another). I would use them... Guest guest
Hi, I have a food safety question and I'm sure some of you can help me. I ordered a packet of preservative free frozen cooked sausages. The delivery guy took 2 hours to deliver (on a hot day) to my house from the supplier. The packet of sausages was completely thawed when I received it. I wonder if it's safe to re-freeze it? If not, would it be safe to keep in fridge and cook them the next day for breakfast? Thanks Priscilla
Guest guest
Cook it the next day for breakfast, don't re-freeze it. I know it's it's not convenient but ideally giving it back to the supplier and telling them to stick it where the sun does'nt shine would be better. This is a total disregard of food safety standards and having been involved with the food industry and particularly my wife who worked in the legal side of a major food manufacturer this is a common practise. Often the food you buy in the freezer compartment of a supermarket has already been thawed out(food should'nt be frozen twice) before it was loaded on to the shelf, although admittedly it has got a bit better in the last year or 2 with better shelf filling methods, at least in Australia anyway.
