Guest guest
Hi Elaine,I have Hashi's, I take 4.5mg LDN, but I do NOT take Armour - which is combination of T4 & T3 thyroid hormone replacement (THR) derived from pigs. I take the synthetic (THR) Levothroid (T4) and Cytomel (T3). I prefer the synthetic version because it allows me to 'tweak' either my T4 or T3 dose based on lab results -- much harder to do with Armour. ANYWAY...to answer your question about 'flushing'...I have NOT experienced anything like that...so not sure if perhaps it's the Armour you take or just too much THR or....~who knows ?? Do you know if your Armour prescription was from a new "batch" ?? ...I've NOT used Armour but have read that different batches can sometimes have different amounts of T3. Dunno...just a thought ?? Also, did you benchmark your levels before starting LDN...???...and are you re-testing ? I'm wondering if your thyroid levels increased. I've been re-testing every 6-8wks and keeping a log of my results. Not sure I've helped...??...but let me know if you have questions.Best wishes,Jann
Guest guest
I have experienced a niacin like flushing, yes. Sometimes tingling, sometimes flushing. Unless it's severe, I wouldn't worry about it. You may also want to check if you estrogen levels are low. I read also that most people with thyroid issues do best on 3mg of ldn, not 4.5mg. > > Yes, I do think the LDN 4.5mgs has raised my thyroid. What I was hoping for was someone on this site has the hypo issues, taking 4.5mgs of LDN and also Armour thyroid. Was there any side effects such as the extreme flushing. My dr. prescribed the LDN but he is not a pro on the issues that we can have while on the dose, especailly with the thyroid being involved. I have looked into 2 sites that deal with Thyroid that was sent to me, but one was just using iodine to treat the problem, not LDN. I am not so sure that he understands using the Iodine either, as a response said I was taking way too much of that! As I said, I am doing wonderful on the LDN for my FMS. I did stop my Armour for 2 days and the flushing did not happen, so I am sure this has to do with the thyriod becoming more normal. I just don't want it to " go south " again as that was miserable. Thanks to all who have answered me. I feel even though this site is basically MS, > this is the best LDN support group out there! > > Elaine > > It was a bit hard to understand the #s ... did LDN raise your thyroid? i am currently on ldn and having weird issues (check my recent post).
