Guest guest
Toril, I have read somewhere that it can cause low blood pressure and have found this out for myself. My blood pressure has always been on the low side but my last reading 5 weeks ago when I was in hospital was something like 99/64. I received good advice from this forum and if you do suffer from low blood pressure I believe the two nutrients that would be expected to increase blood pressure naturally are zinc, which stimulates adrenal function, and phenylalanine, which contributes to the production of noradrenaline, which increases blood pressure. Noradrenaline is also produced by the adrenal gland so these two will expectedly work together to increase blood pressure and vitality. However, I may be wrong and perhaps Art / Zahiva / Cris can help with this. Guest guest
Hi there. I am so glsd to hear you are trying LDN for RA. have just thgis week jpoined this group as I am in process of finding a supplier for LDN so I too may start. I also suffer RA, and remain sure that Methotrexate or otherr high chemical drugs which suppress my immune system cannot make sense for me. I know what its like to fel alone in the process too, so wish you well in your search. I keyed in Bihari LDN Rheumatoid to google and got good source info up about doaseage and early side effects etc. Wish you well in staying with your trial too. and encourage y9ou to keep writing here. I am in Northern ireland and trying to locate a supply as I doubt my docs will prescribe. Are you anywhere near? I alos nopte your suggestion of Fybromyalgia. I tyoo have queried this, as much of my pain and debi;ity is in muscle systems not joints. I conclude though that what is happening is a shortening of muscles and tendons especially after any rest. I use Technique to help me keep lengthening and have now started a book of exercises for relief of chronic pain called 'PAin Free; and by Egoscue. Its readily available on nternet and so far it make ssense and helps relieve some pain and I onloy started a few days ago. Good luck. If you find any research on LDN for RA I would really like to know Cheers Nuala(Gimley) > > Hello, everyone! > > I've just started using LDN (1,5 mg) and need some advice. > > I've got rheumatoid arthrisis (but not on any medications for it), Grave's disease (treated and under control), very dry eyes and something that I suspect to be fibrolyalgia (haven't got the diagnose, but surely got many of the symptoms). Guest guest
I too, have Rheumatoid and Fibromyalgia, with stressed adrenals. I started LDN at 4.5 mg, but only experienced disturbed sleep the first few nights. I am taking Cytozyme-AD, 6 a day for the adrenals. I agree with Zahavi, that you need to get the adrenals straightened out. I believe taking LDN at night before bed is best because of what it does for the endorphins. I have chosen to stick with it even though I am still flared up. LDN needs time to work. Best to you, Jo [low dose naltrexone] Low dose naltrexone and low blood pressure / heavy feeling in the body Hello, everyone!I've just started using LDN (1,5 mg) and need some advice. I've got rheumatoid arthrisis (but not on any medications for it), Grave's disease (treated and under control), very dry eyes and something that I suspect to be fibrolyalgia (haven't got the diagnose, but surely got many of the symptoms). I decided to try LDN to see if it could reduce some of my fatigue and pain, and maybe also help on my dry eyes.Right now I'm a bit comfused on the way I'bve been reacting on the 1,5 mg dose. I've been experimenting a bit, and will explain it here: Some months ago I took 1,5 mg just to see my reaction on it (took it at night), but felt it kept me awake and I was not able to sleep. I was also quite anxious, as it was the first time I took it, so it could be a reaction of that too. Anyway...I decided to postpone the whole LDN-thing for a while, and 3 days ago I started again. This time I took 1,5 mg at noon the first 2 days, but didn't feel anything special at all. Not more energy, not more tired than usual,..nothing. Guest guest
Hello, Nuala! Thanks for your long mail. I'm not living close no...I live in Norway. I'm using a low dose of doxycycline (anibiotic) to keep control over my RA, believe it or not! I think, without it, I've had to go back to metothrexate or whatever that made me really sick. At least I would have to take cortisone injections in my knees many times a year (as my knees tend to swell up as balloons). I started using doxycycline for treating inflammation in my dry eyes (prescribed by my dry eye doctor in France), and supprisingly it seemed to work on my RA as well. I've been asking my family doctor if it can actually be the case that it's working, but he seems to think it's all in my head. I've done some research on the net though, and I've found many people experiencing the same as me. Anyway..about the LDN, as I seem to have the inflammation in the joints under control now, I wanted to try LDN, hoping to get less fatigue and muscle pain,...and also, like I mentioned, to help on my dry eyes. I really hope I can tolarate LDN,...I have the tendency to react weird on all kind of medications. I'm the kind of person that seems to get all the less common side effects. Thanks for your info. Stay in touch and let me know how it goes with your LDN trial! I'll keep in touch as well. PS: How old are you? Guest guest
Is it possible that you have Lyme Disease? Many Lyme Literate Medical Doctors (LLMD) believe that many people do not truly have arthritis, that it is Lyme Disease. The fact that Doxycycline helps you makes me wonder. Doxy is usually the first drug given to a Lyme patient. Kenda > Hello, Nuala! > > Thanks for your long mail. I'm not living close no...I live in Norway. Guest guest
Hello, Kenda! That is a very good question indeed. I have been thinking about it, and also read some about it on the net, but I'm not quite sure where to start. I've had RA since I was around 5 years old, and at that time they tought it was psoriatic juvenile arthrisis (but I've had very litte psoriasis, thank god). Both my parents have muscle pain and rare episodes of psoriasis (but not RA), and I've got a grandmother with Crohn's disease, so I guess my genetic profile shows that it's a chance I have " real " RA. I don't have antibodies in the blood (common with this type of RA, but also in reactive arthrisis, that can be a result of Lyme disease). I've heard that Lyme disease can be difficult to diagnose due to inaccurate bloodtests? I've heard many people getting negative blood tests, but having Lyme's after all. But yes...I am very surprised doxycycline is helping my joints this much!! Guest guest
Hi Nuala there is a prescribing Doctor in kilmagoney Kilkenny.Dr Crowley.I get mine from him. Clare Cork City Ireland. [low dose naltrexone] Re: Low dose naltrexone and low blood pressure / heavy feeling in the body Hi there.I am so glsd to hear you are trying LDN for RA. have just thgis week jpoined this group as I am in process of finding a supplier for LDN so I too may start. Wish you well in staying with your trial too. and encourage y9ou to keep writing here.I am in Northern ireland and trying to locate a supply as I doubt my docs will prescribe. Are you anywhere near?I alos nopte your suggestion of Fybromyalgia. I tyoo have queried this, as much of my pain and debi;ity is in muscle systems not joints. I conclude though that what is happening is a shortening of muscles and tendons especially after any rest.I use Technique to help me keep lengthening and have now started a book of exercises for relief of chronic pain called 'PAin Free; and by Egoscue. Its readily available on nternet and so far it make ssense and helps relieve some pain and I onloy started a few days ago.Good luck. If you find any research on LDN for RA I would really like to knowCheersNuala(Gimley) >> Hello, everyone!> > I've just started using LDN (1,5 mg) and need some advice. > > I've got rheumatoid arthrisis (but not on any medications for it), Grave's disease (treated and under control), very dry eyes and something that I suspect to be fibrolyalgia (haven't got the diagnose, but surely got many of the symptoms). When I began taking this med more than a year ago I could not sleep at all & stopped it three times for this reason. Went down to half mg. as I am using the liquid method & used various sleep aids to help. Slowly worked dose up a little each week & I am still @ 3mg. because of low weight. Chamomile tea @ dinner, almost no caffeine at all, one or more of xanax, melatonin, something called kali-phos, 5htp or valerian before bed. I play with these & when one stops working, I switch. Glad I stuck with it because I am fortunate to have had some symptom improvements with energy, bladder & now can walk with a cane again & I enjoy this with a passion. Took at least a month for symptom improvements. Never had heavy feelings. Keep at it if you can
Guest guest
>>my last reading 5 weeks ago when I was in hospital was something like 99/64.<< This can be a red herring either way. A lot of patients have their BP rise in the doctor's office just out of nervousness. But in the hospital, while lying around snoozing and relaxing, your BP frequently goes down slightly if it is not too high in the first place. Consider the situation, how much caffeine one had had that day, or other variables. From being on this list a long time, I have heard very little about LDN and BP issues. Guest guest
My blood pressure after 5 years on LDN is higher than it used to be but Dudley's sentence below leads me to surmise that as with many issues people mistakenly try to attribute to LDN, it is due to other factors altogether eg ageing and lifestyle. Guest guest
Hi there, I have experienced the exact same thing - a heavy, lead feeling. I think for some, it reduces adrenal reserves that might already be low. Are you on thyroid meds? > > Hello, everyone! Guest guest
If you google blood pressure and infection you will find that infection can cause low blood pressure. We just had a friend in the hospital with infection in his intestine. His bp was extremely low. a >>my last reading 5 weeks ago when I was in hospital was something like 99/64.<< This can be a red herring either way. Guest guest
A lot of us with a Lyme diagnosis that looks like chronic fatigue syndrome have what is called neurally mediated hypotension. This means the brain does not regulate the blood pressure well because the nerve links to heart and legs is not well connected - thus when we stand for a length of time the bp drops sometimes to the point of passing out. If you find you get a headache, nausea or exhaustion standing in line at a grocery store you probably have this problem. a My blood pressure after 5 years on LDN is higher than it used to be but Dudley's sentence below leads me to surmise that as with many issues people mistakenly try to attribute to LDN, it is due to other factors altogether eg ageing and lifestyle. Guest guest
it is not the infection that cause the blood pressure.it is the adrenal fatigue because of the infection that cause the low blood pressure.one of the ways to solve it is celtic salt, etc, etc, etc > > > From: Art Hansen <rtee54@...> > Subject: [low dose naltrexone] Re: Low dose naltrexone and low blood > pressure / heavy feeling in the body > low dose naltrexone > Date: Tuesday, March 10, 2009, 6:07 PM > > > This month makes it four years I am using LDN and my blood pressure > stays the same within the normal range. > > Art > --- >
