Hi Marti, Yes, we have a 'nice group going now', and you're a part of it! I've been wondering if you've been dealing with more health issues as I haven't seen you here for a while. I know very little about thyroid issues, but surely they're going to get to the bottom of this, aren't they? Worrying about being able to breathe seems rather critical to your existence I would think! Best of luck to you, I've missed your input warm blessings, jane ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Access over 1 million songs - Music Unlimited (http://music./unlimited)
Guest guest
i have a friend who had difficulty breathing lke that with a thyroid issie .. It was not asthma but a large tumor on her thyroid . The tumor was successfully treated and removed and now she is doing well . Ask the doctor to do an xray . There may be something other than asthma. did you say your tsh was 9.2?? cathy from ma

Guest guest
Marti!! Your doctor is using outdated ranges. The TSH ranges are .3-3.0, it was updated in November of 2002, labs do not have to change it. Your thyroid regulates so much! I wish you luck in being properly treated. Here is a website with very good info. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ You can also get good info from this website. But I don't like her top docs. http://www.thyroid-info.com Kate At 10:03 PM 11/2/2006, you wrote: >Hi all, > > I haven't posted for quite awhile. Guest guest
She would need an ultra sound not an xray. It was probably a nodule not a tumor. I have 4 nodules. Once they are over 1 cm they can do an FNA, in most cases they are not cancer. However, my sister is a ThyCa survivor. My largest one is 7mm. But I use Armour thyroid replacement and it is helping to suppress the growth and give me thyroid hormones that my body won't produce. However with an autoimmune disease, it's always up to your body! Guest guest
Marti, Yes, I have been having breathing problems. They keep telling me I'm getting all the oxygen I need but I'm still wanting more air. Thanks for the thyroid hint. About 3-6 months ago the doctor raised my thyroid meds. You've got me wondering. I'm seeing him this week I'll have it checked. Sandy swOhio

Guest guest
Hi , yes...92. Both the doc and I double checked the decimal point. thanks for your input. I'll ask for the xray. best, marti > > i have a friend who had difficulty breathing lke that with a thyroid issie > . It was not asthma but a large tumor on her thyroid . Guest guest
Bless you Kate!! please pray(for those of you that believe in it) that I will somehow get an endocrinologist or another doc that believes this. I have struggled with all the symptoms of low thyroid for years and even took literature into my docs about the newer standards. I do not know what to say except I guess we are more than old fashioned in this midwest city. Sorry to say I am even looking at moving to another city to find better docs but in the meantime I have to work with who I have. I'll check out the websites and print them for my doc again...perhaps I have his attention now!! thanks again!!! marti > >Hi all, > > > > I haven't posted for quite awhile. Guest guest
Marti, Stay away from Endos!!!! They are the worst to treat thyroid. They are trained in diabetes. The normal only look at the TSH. Free T3 and Free T4 are very important, that is the unbound thyroid hormone in your blood stream. I pray you get a doctor that will get you proper treatment. An ultrasound is another useful tool for checking nodules. Guest guest
I was having breathing problems too, only it was that my lungs were not releasing the air, enough. It was like I couldn't breath though, then they put me on Advir, singular and an inhaler, and it worked. Then I got pregnant and I went off all the meds. Later I found out that I have PA and RA and my rheumy tells me that the pain and breathing problems I have are from the PA and RA affecting my lungs. I believe him because if I am on the humira I am fine, if I stop, I can't breath. Just for an idea.

Guest guest
hi marti I'll be praying that you get some help with your health issues. Keep fighting the good fight I'm doing rather well. Got really worn out after doing some shopping with the family last weekend - too many hours on my feet. But, I handled it better than I would have a year ago, and without using the electric scooter. My main issue right now is the jaw pain. Eating is painful, so I only do that when necessary. It's getting more difficult to open my mouth and chew as each day passes. I don't know how I'd rest in the evening if I didn't use an ice bag. Oh well.... warm blessings, jane
Guest guest
Jane...anything they can do for the jaw pain? I know that when the jaw starts hurting, we naturally tense it up. I often find myself having to remind myself to relzx my jaw. The nights I have woke up and found myself sleeping with my jaw hanging open have been heaven. My jaw does not trouble me now but I had trouble with it about 15 years ago so I'm familiar with this. Even though it's not technically TMJ when it's PA, I found that a splint gave me great relief because it allowed me to have my jaw open and more relaxed...less stress on it when it's not in use is a great way to baby it. So now when I feel it creeping back in, I try to get myself in this " dumb " mode where I hang my jaw open with a " duh " look on my face and it feels good. I hope you get some relief from this. What good news you are able to get around without the scooter these days! yeah...I think that jaw one can be hard...well...guess they are all actually hard...news flash huh? I used my scooter today. and got my endocrinologist appointment moved up to this Wednesday. Thanks so very much for the prayers. best, Marti
Guest guest
--- Betsy Jack <itsbetsy@...> wrote: > Jane...anything they can do for the jaw pain? Hi again Betsy, According to my doctors, they've done what can be done. Panoramic xrays show arthritis throughout my jaw and cheek bones. I've been using a bite splint for years. I've had cortisone shots, physical therapy, but still have to really on pain meds and ice/heat every evening. My mouth won't open very far any more, can't even eat something like a sandwich or steak, so I eat a lot of chicken, fruits and vegetables cooked and cut into small bites. I also do the exercises daily, trying not to lose the movement I have left. My doctors say that surgery is not an option. Fortunately my jaw has only locked shut once, and that was many years ago when I was at summer camp. But since then, I had whiplash after two rear-end collisions and an incident where my brother dropped a 60 pound bale of hay on my head from about 20 feet above me (actually saw stars like they do in cartoons!). But since we didn't have health insurance, it was years before anyone ever x-rayed my neck. I also had back injuries/problems since I was a child, so maybe there is some connection between damaging a joint only to have PA discover it years later. I've been having some ankle pain and swelling, but I've sprained my left one twice, and the right four times, so again they've had some trauma. Believe it or not, I once sprained both of my ankles in a fall down some icy steps...my family calls me " calamity jane " and rightly so I'm afraid warm blessings, jane ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Sponsored Link Mortgage rates near 39yr lows. $510k for $1,698/mo. Guest guest
Jane....my family was always one to get a chuckle at my expense too. I laughed along with them. Even when my sister brought me a hamburger from s. I was surprised because they all KNEW that I could not eat anything that " tall " at the time due to my jaw. But she calmly opened it up for me and sat it on a plate in front of me and then took her fist and smashed it. All with a straight face. That's my family. I got a laugh out of it. Never thought of putting it in a blender....thinking of you. -Betz

Guest guest
Last night I was singing, and I noticed that my breathing was a lot stronger. This is day 3 of ldn, but, I did not have breathing problems before taking ldn (at least none that I knew of). Is this something I should ascrible to the medication? I've also been following a low carb diet for the past few weeks so I'm not sure which is more likely to be causing this.Jill
Guest guest
Jill, People take LDN for COPD where they need oxygen and it seems to help. So, I am not surprised to hear that you may have had some help with breathing strength. My best, Aletha
Guest guest
Funny that you should bring that up...I played in bands for decades until the MS took all that away. At times, I barely had the energy to move my lips to talk, let alone sing. I gave up my guitar and singing for years and thought that part of my life was over. I started LDN 8 months ago and recently began playing and singing in my husbands band (at age 61). He and I just had the conversation last week that my singing has never been better than it is right now, so we attributed that to LDN. Rock on Jill! > > > > Last night I was singing, and I noticed that my breathing was a lot stronger.
