Guest guest
What are people's opinions about anti-yeast diets? I started my 3 year old on the specific carbohydrate diet about 5 weeks ago (due to chronic diarrhea) and I have been allowing " simple sugars " in the form of fresh fruit only. No other sugar. No refined. No cane sugar. I know some anti-yeast diets are NO FRUIT. Our nutritionist has said that she thinks the body needs glucose for the brain to function properly (especially in children) so she rec. keeping fruit in the diet. Is anyone doing NO fruit as an anti-yeast diet? And if so, what have been the results? How important is it to limit simple sugar (fruit)? My son has VERY high yeast and I now believe this is a key issue contributing to his diarrhea problem (due to chronic ear infections and 11 courses of antibiotics!). What worked and what did not?
Guest guest
My son and daughter are SCD too. We definitely have to control fruit here. It creates problems for each of my kids. They only get berries and pears, but both of these have to be used sparingly and with a strong yeast protocol. if you limit these things too much then ketosis could be an issue, so in our house they eat LOTS of butternut squash (french fries and I put it in their chicken cakes). it is a balancing act for sure. you may need to play around with this to see what works best for your child. Once on SCD my son immediately started having formed stools. Not so for my daughter. The evidence suggests a clostridia problem for her even though this never showed up on her tests but this is what has her finally having formed stools: flagyl (or bactrim) and Sac B - this is why I think clostridia is her issue. Hope some of this information helps you > > From: Alyssa Davi <johnalyssa43@...> > Subject: [ ] treating protozoa > > Date: Saturday, February 28, 2009, 4:33 PM > > > > > > > What would be the treatment for protozoa?
