Guest guest
We are on our second round using ALA with DMSA, previously we only used DMSA. Has anyone noticed that their child's stool has an unbearable foul odor while using ALA? Often our son has foul smelling gas even prior to the bm. When he goes the smell is hard to take. What is this, the metals coming out in the feces? Hate to ask this indelicate question, but we can't figure out what it is. We never had this with DMSA. Also, does there come a point where you can just chelate with ALA and eliminate DMSA? Or is the DMSA helpful to deal with the redistribution effects of ALA? Did anyone on this group start out with both and eventually go to just ALA? How long do you stay at one dose of ALA, until you don't see any more progress? ALA seems to be hard on my son's stomach. I try to give each dose with at least a little bite of a gfcf cookie (has sugar I know and feeds yeast, but at least he takes it with something). It is hard to get him to eat on round now, whereas with DMSA, it was like he was always starving and could not get enough food, which as a mother was something I loved to see. I try to tell myself, maybe he eats less with ALA, but he is so calm and so clear, it is helping his brain... Any suggestions about what to do about the stomach upset aspect? Is all ALA created equal? I use the Kirkman hypoallergenic stuff, but is there anything better out there, more " pure " if you will, without the silicon dioxide, for example? Thanks. Guest guest
I have found stinky stools related to Gluten foods we are using just ALA, As far as I am aware you are supposed to use the DMSA till all body Mercury is gone, and then its safer to use the ALA on its own to then chelate the brain I am guessing because there is no chance then of redistrubting a large quantity of the body merc into the brain inenvertedly. But that said we are only using ALA and I have been told on here that that is okay, I am a bit worried about it because the day we take him off the round his behaviour seems to get headbanging....but then after this last round he is talking so much more its so exciting, and he is listening and interested when I show him things. My theory on it now is that the ALA is removing the Mercury from his brain, and if as part of the process mercury ends up being redistributed back into the brain when we go off the round, then eventually we will get all the mercury out, and this is a reason to keep the dose lower rather than higher, as to not redistribute a huge amount of it anyplace. I wonder when finishing the round if it would be a good idea to come of it slowly like say give 1/2 then 1/4 of the dose? > > We are on our second round using ALA with DMSA, previously we only used DMSA. > > Has anyone noticed that their child's stool has an unbearable foul odor while using ALA? > Often our son has foul smelling gas even prior to the bm.
